01:45 Lay down a stripe of pyrethrin concentrate on both sides of the foam and watch them want nothing to do with getting through it. It's just better to get them out of there and save them instead.
I would have liked to see the comb getting framed up, and the bees being put into their box. Other than that it was a good video. 👍 Seeing you get the swarm was interesting. Do you ever wonder what the bees are thinking when you capture them? Like, they are just hanging out on a tree, wondering where to go to find a new home, then all of a sudden they get bumped into a bucket. They probably think they are being attacked, but then they get dumped into a perfect home, and their queen gets caged... LoL
Great job as always Mr. Ed! I just installed my two packages last weekend. I’m also hoping to catch some swarms with some of the traps I set. God bless Owen
Your hair looks like mine mr. Ed. LOL. I need a haircut because the curls get out of control. This was a nice cut out and a lot of gentle bees with a beautiful queen. I'm always amazed by the bees ability to adapt their hive to the space they live in. Sending warm wishes from the Netherlands!

Boy, that is one beautiful hive! Hey Jeff, when you vacuum a hive of that size, does the vacuum kill any percentage of the bees? If so how how much? Thank you!
There are usually some dead bees in the bottom of the vac, but the number is very low compared to what was saved. Thanks for watching. God's peace Steve. Mr. Ed
I love the music you choose Mr Ed, I know it's probably royalty free music, but who is it? It sounds like the same guy or couple of guys every video, the guy playing the guitar has a beautiful style of playing, I also like the way you have the music way down in the mix makes it really relaxing to listen to.
Glad to hear you enjoy the music as well as the videos. All the music I use comes from RUclips's video library and it is royalty free. I'm a fan of acoustic guitar which is why I use so much of it. Thanks for watching and listening. God's peace. Mr. Ed

It’s always interesting to me that so many bees run, rather than fly, away. I guess the nursemaid instinct to protect comb is stronger than FLEE THE NOISY SUCKY THING. Hope you’re doing well; I know the first Mother’s Day after losing your mom can be hard. 😪
I'm amazed at the same thing. I just accept the fact that bees would rather walk than fly...especially the hive bees. We went to mom's grave on Mother's Day, it was a beautiful day. Hope your kitties are well, God's peace Kelly. Mr. Ed

Yes it is. The bee vac is designed with a gate to bleed off excess pressure so as to reduce the vacuum in the box. The link below is for a video I made showing how I built my bee vac. Thanks for watching. God's peace Cindy. Mr. Ed ruclips.net/video/tV3mR39v6RA/видео.html
Can you please explain why you don't keep the broodcomb right way up in the ice chests. I would expect that keeping them in their already established orientation would reduce loss.
The comb is placed upside down because I don't want honey to run over the brood before it is framed up. The short time it is upside down matters not, and when it is place correctly in the frame, and honey that runs over the brood will be cleaned up by the bee. Because the bees are so disoriented by the removal, the placement of the brood brood comb is not important, just the fact that it is there is all that matters. Thanks for watching and asking. God's peace. Mr. Ed
What would you say your success rate in getting the queen is? I do a lot of removals and I charge a good amount so I don't waste time looking for a queen. I vacuum the bees and clean out the comb without spending customer $ for the time it takes to find the queen. Id say that I sometimes get the queen and sometimes I don't. Queens have a unique ability to hide from the vacuum. I would also like to ask what you use as a specialty tool for scraping off those first few braces of comb in tight spaces? A right angle scraper is something I've had trouble finding. Thanks
Hi Mr Ed. I enjoy your channel. I have a question? I caught a swarm three weeks ago. I just a hive inspection , found the queen and capted brood. While trying to mark then queen she flew off. Will she return or do I need a.replacement queen? While I saw called brood I did not see any lavra,.and my eyes.are not good enough to see eggs. If you suggest a new queen who would have a mated queen?
Now that's rotten luck! If it's been a few days since she flew the coupe, you will need to get another queen, and a mated one is the best deal. Thanks for watching. God's peace Tim. Mr. Ed
@@JeffHorchoff You guys get hurricanes and floods. Here we are threatened by electrical black outs and water shortages. Too bad we cannot life the edges of a state and let the water run to the dry as tinder Southwest states. God is with us no matter what.
Jeff, where can I get a motor like you have on your bee vac? Ive looked everywhere and cant find one like yours. Enjoy all your video's, keep making more.
Unfortunately, they discontinued the model vacuum head I use. The good news is you can use any motor that produces a vacuum, you just have to configure it to your bee vac. Thanks for watching. God's peace Kenny. Mr. Ed

You just can't leave a house with no one in it very long. To many things happens. Termites, Carpenter Bees, Ants, Squirrels, and animal fine there ways in. Tree limbs and things. I have birds, and flying squirrels, that hits the sides of the house, and windows, all the time. Cracked one. I love to travel and tour the country side. I could live traveling. but i can't stay away very long. being a home owner. The house ties me down, i don't like to be tie down ! It give me some thing to do all the time. Since we can't be sociable, with this CVD - 19 - The weather want let me work my bees. 😒 i only get a day or 2, that is pretty and i use them, mowing picking up limbs
Home ownership certainly has a lot of responsibilities, but I've always believed it is better to live in a house than not have one to live in. Plus, I have a place to keep bees as well, and I know you love your bees. God's peace brother. Mr. Ed

I'd move them into a bigger box as soon as possible and let the box remain where it is. That's what I do when the swarm won't all fit in the trap. God's peace Bruce. Mr. Ed
@@JeffHorchoff the weird thing is, not a one went into the swarm trap. They were all hanging on the outside like they were in their bivouac area. Two days later, after they'd experienced 52 degrees and rain, I brushed all of them into a deep and moved them to a friend's house for a few days. I'll pick them up tomorrow and put them in their permanent location on my property.

Never leave home without it. Thanks for watching. God's peace.
Mr. Ed
Have you ever thought of using some of those "hot hands" hot packs to help keep the comb warm until you can get the bees back on it?
I never considered it because the ice chest does a great job. Thanks for watching. God's peace John.
Mr. Ed
I would have liked to see the comb getting framed up, and the bees being put into their box. Other than that it was a good video. 👍
Seeing you get the swarm was interesting. LoL
I have often thought about what the bees are thinking, but I am certain they are very happy when I put them in their new home. God's peace MD.
Mr. Ed
Great job as always Mr. Ed! I just installed my two packages last weekend. I’m also hoping to catch some swarms with some of the traps I set.
God bless

Thank you for your blessings and for watching. Also, best wishes on capturing some free bees as well. Until the next one, God's peace Owen.

I got my hair cut right after this video was made, now I'm ready for the Louisiana heat. Thanks for your kind greetings and for watching. God's peace.

@@JeffHorchoff Same here with your video, my Acorn Package will be here Monday.
You are a wooly youngun there but if you get to looking like a 'Q' tip we'll let you know. Maybe that is MORE like a 'Q' tip. Good job but you better not growl about Ralph not being there because you know full well he'd have spotted that queen right off. Good for Hollis and you and Charlie have a Jesus weekend! GBWYall
Thank goodness the Kenny Rogers look is gone, I never was the gambling type. I got Ralph's critique on my performance and he gave me a B+, he said there's still room for improvement. Have a great weekend yourself brother, God's peace Lewie.
Mr. Ed
@@JeffHorchoff I've been VERY disillusioned with 'performers' in the last while. Nothing for me there. Glad Ralph is keeping up with everything. He has the 'EYE' no doubt! Have a WONDERFUL week and BEE happy as you always are! Charlie too! GBWYou, Buddy!

Jeff were do you buy your bee hives from and what kind
I buy my bee boxes and frames from Premier Bee Products, and if you use the code "MRED10" when ordering, you will get a 10% discount. Thanks for watching. God's peace David.
Mr. Ed
Jeff can you give a talk about the FLIR cameras? My wife and I have started doing cutouts and need to buy one. We really love your channel. Thanks
I do not know much about thermal cameras or what's out there, but I do know the camera I use is all the camera I need to locate bees in a house. It's a Flir model # 15-TG165. I'm happy to have you guys following along, thanks for doing that. God's peace Ken.
Mr. Ed
@@JeffHorchoff thank you Mr Ed. Been wanting to know what gun you're using. I've been watching you for about 4 years now. Love you and your videos.

Jeff, is the suction on the bee vac less than a regular vacuum cleaner?
Yes it is. The bee vac is designed with a gate to bleed off excess pressure so as to reduce the vacuum in the box. The link below is for a video I made showing how I built my bee vac. Thanks for watching. God's peace Cindy.

Mr. Ed
Mr. Ed
@@JeffHorchoff Thanks for your excellent reply. Keep up the great wrangling...

When you use the honey bandit to chase the bees out of a tight spot, do you use it diluted or full strength
Full strength, I do love that stuff. Thanks for watching. God's peace Neil.

I've got a swarm that has been hanging on a swarm trap for 2 days. It's raining today and overnight it got to 52 degrees. Any suggestions?
I'd move them into a bigger box as soon as possible and let the box remain where it is. That's what I do when the swarm won't all fit in the trap. God's peace Bruce.
Mr. Ed
@@JeffHorchoff the weird thing is, not a one went into the swarm trap. They were all hanging on the outside like they were in their bivouac area. Two days later, after they'd experienced 52 degrees and rain, I brushed all of them into a deep and moved them to a friend's house for a few days. I'll pick them up tomorrow and put them in their permanent location on my property.
