This might be the best piece of content that this channel has ever produced. I recently drove a 1978 BMW 530i up from Florida into Minnesota while you guys were doing this & Chris Klewell of Jalopnik and the Overcrest podcast was driving his C43 AMG back from California. All three of us had very different cars but I felt a similar sort of bond, some sort of comradeship with people that I had never met. My heater was on max & was quickly becoming less effective with each mile, I was stopping for fuel every couple hundred miles because I didn't trust the fuel gauge, but more so that I could check in on the Lemons rally. Driving old cars during the polar vortex sure isn't the smartest but it was one of the funnest.

Here in Poland, every year we have a very similar rally called Złombol. The most important rule of this rally is that you can only enter it in a communist made or a communist design vehicle. It doesn't get any more unsuited for a long journey than this. The goal is to reach a set location, about 2000-3000km away and go back somehow. You get no accommodation, any help from outside the rally you are disqualified, other teams are allowed to help you. People fill most of their luggage with tools and spares, because these things constantly brake down.
Oh, and it is a BIG event. Last year 836 teams have registered (including bikes, trucks and buses). It's not an easy task to register because apart from having such a car and crazy friends you also are required to find a sponsor who will donate money for the rally's charity foundation.
