- Did you just pee or is it your water breaking? Let’s TACO ‘bout it! 🌮
For the vast majority of women (85-90%) the amniotic race sac does not rupture until they are well into active labor.
But what should you do if your water does break before labor has begun?
Remember T.A.C.O. 🌮😄
🕰️ TIME: Record the time your water broke or started leaking.
💧 AMOUNT: No need to break out the measuring cups! Just note if it’s a trickle or a full-on gush!
👉If you’re unsure, try this trick: pee, place a sanitary pad, lie down for a bit, then stand up. If it gushes or fills up the pad quickly, it’s a strong hint that your water broke.
🤍COLOR: Your water should be as clear as day! 🌟 Take note and contact your provider if this is not the case.
👃 ODOR: Amniotic fluid should be odorless or clean smelling.
⭐️BONUS clue: amniotic fluid has a high pH when compared to the vagina. If you happen to have pH paper laying around, if you test the fluid and it’s north of 6.5, it could definitely be that your waters broke. Talk to your midwife or doctor ASAP.
Remember, your body’s doing amazing things, and it knows what to do! 🤰🌟 So keep T.A.C.O. in mind, and if your water breaks, give your healthcare team the heads up. They’ll take care of you and keep you comfy throughout the beautiful journey of bringing new life into this world. You’ve got this, mama! 🌹💪
