I come from future. The track now has three in 2020 because of a Global Pandemic. Lots of paranoid people here outside the sports world. That’s where we are.
crazy watching this race, knowing how it ends, yet with about 20 to go Craven and Busch are barely even in the picture we all remember the drag race at the end, but it's so easy to forget just how crazy the lead-up was -- Sadler and Gordon battling for the win, then suddenly Busch gets by them, then out of nowhere Craven, Junior, even Blaney have a legitimate chance to win . . . absolute madness all the way to the legendary finish
It's cool to see Kurt smiling after this race. He finished second, hates to lose like his brother Kyle. Yet he knows that was one of the greatest finishes ever, and he was a part of it
Darrell : here he comes, here he comes, here he comes, here he comes, he's got him this time Larry : it's gonna be a drag race wow they touch they touch All : Craven GOT HIM! Larry and Darrell : CRAVEN GOT HIM CRAVEN GOT HIM CRAVEN GOT HIM Mike : and / Darrell : Craven alright what a finish Mike: Have you ever? Darrell : No, I've never Mike: Wow Darrell : What a finish!
I respect Kurt for not whining after the finish, yeah he was disappointed but he didn't lash out at Craven but appreciated the race that they had just ran
2:215:06 Look at the leader board off put road. Jeff Gordon was so fast in his prime that he was able to beat not only Jeff Gordon but JEFF GORDON off pit road too 💀
@@mitchcolburn1216 It would have been super cool to see Blanket get that win, since he had not ended up winning a race in his career, but then that means Craven would not have won and Pontiac would not have gotten their last win in such a glorious way.
Pontiac's last victory is one of the greatest ever, good job.
Michael Adams the greatest*
its a damn crime that Darlington doesnt have 2 races a year

Competition Yellows are a far bigger crime.
I Come From 2024, And She’s Got Two Races A Year (Darlington Is Back To Two Races)

Still a good finish
One of the best finishes of all time
Oh, yeah. The race with the legendary finish.
It's not legendary.............. It's Ultimate.
Damn I love the old pre-race shows
What Brian France did to NASCAR is criminal
Crazy seeing how many fans used to come to these races
57:33 such a class act, not letting his emotions get the best of him. Sterling is the man.
This finish, along with the 1995 Goody's 500 and the 2012 Watkins Glen race, prove you don't need a late race caution to have a great finish.
I would also put the Bristol race in 1999 with Dale pushing Labonte out of the way. That was a great finish as well.
Oh man that 12 glen race was amazing, haha I forgot about it

Most notable race of the 2003 season due to the exciting finish
This 400 mile race has come back after 15 years.
They touch, they touch, AAH! CRAVENS GOT HIM IT'S CRAVEN!!! CRAVEN!!! Have you ever.. No I've never!
I respect Kurt for not whining after the finish, yeah he was disappointed but he didn't lash out at Craven but appreciated the race that they had just ran
This was when racing was racing.
Nascar should bring back the spring race, great action always in Darlington.
agreed!
Kansas has the Spring Date since 2011
It's BAAAAAAAACK!!!
I remember this, Pontiac has a commercial with this finish in 2003.
One of the best races in NASCAR history
I miss this hard racing
HAVE YOU EVER????? NO I'VE NEVER!!!!!
+jamespic WOW!!!!!
WHAT A FINISH
The EA Sports trailer for NASCAR Thunder 2004 (which appeared in Madden 04) has a reference to this race.
Thanks for sharing this, man!
1:19:20 Buddy Baker spotting for Ryan Newman

The NOSSCAR drivers love racing on this track :) Long live Darlington Raceway !
BEST.....NASCAR.....RACE.....EVER!!!!!!

3:06:24 If only they knew of the shit show to come years later..
This race saved Darlington
Damn 17 to go Ricky craven was down 2 seconds. I miss old nascar
Nearly 3!
When Nascar was still Nascar and not handing out penalties left and right.
Martin and Junior both led the most laps until they were both penalized within 100 to go for lug nut violations.
You're an idiot
3:01:50 This is the moment you're looking for
2:59:00 onwards is amazing
Am I the only one that thinks it’s weird that Michelin was such a huge sponsor of this race?
32:10-Starting Grid
37:29 *GREEN, GREEN, GREEN!*
*Have you ever!*
DracoAce no I’ve never!
Wow, what a finish!
Tell me again why nascar hasn't used this chassis with the strengthened cockpit design of the 2020 car and got back to quality racing again?
31:46-Starting grid
2:215:06 Look at the leader board off put road. Jeff Gordon was so fast in his prime that he was able to beat not only Jeff Gordon but JEFF GORDON off pit road too 💀
Speedy Ricky craven won the race
Fast Forward 21 Years and The Record for The Closest Finish in NASCAR History would get broken at Kansas at the hands of Kyle Larson & Chris Buescher
2:20:01
1:06:59
If only Busch and Craven had wrecked :(
Before the finish or after the finish?
@@kl5_racing251 Right at the finish. then Blaney would have won
@@mitchcolburn1216 It would have been super cool to see Blanket get that win, since he had not ended up winning a race in his career, but then that means Craven would not have won and Pontiac would not have gotten their last win in such a glorious way.
3:04:11 what a pathetic excuse you know he's lying when he looks at the interviewer and the camera to look to see who he's lying to how foolish
jameskobe Gonzalez dude, that’s been corroborated several times, you can see kurt getting tighter and tighter in the last 20 laps or so
