For a money boost, when I start a new game I go to Construction Junction and sell off the roof, chimney, and side sign from my house, then I expand my property right away. I also buy as many storage chests as I can that first week while they're half off. Having extra room, extra storage and a few gols in my pocket makes getting started a lot smoother.
