Wow! My friend had the exact same Fjodling 17 in the 70s. A nice boat with a good bottom. The guy still made it jump off a wave in the Archipelago Sea so that it fell into the water with the transom ahead. He moved on to sailboats...
you need a pad on the bottom. over the hub semi cleaver 4 blade hydromotive prop to control that boat! the boat just flops back into the water. drag. you have to stay on top and in control. and fly the boat! you might see 80+ mph. you will need a bullet with lower water pick up. surface pierce a little too! hot shit bro! clean it up on the cheap! find a used prop! don't cheap out! and make a generous pad! let the boat fly! it will still run good in the choppy waters at slower speeds. the hull is buried . good luck my friend. cool boat!
Cmon, he's doing his thing. Any time a v bottom gets out of the water like that WO a center steer things will be a little sketchy. The hull was obviously never meant to fly but he will learn to respect it or get wet. Looks like he's doing fine. He picked the right power so that tells me something.
This is a Legendary boat in Norway.. Its designer Jan Herman Linge design this hull in the 60's... And are doing more than well in high speeds... Btw, he passes 80mph many times in this video.. The speed designation/reference we use for boats in Norway is knots btw.. and not mph or km/H.. He passes 70knots many times, and 70knots is 80.55xxx mph..These boats are design by a Norwegian LEGEND, for the Norwegian Coast. The video shows how good this hull handles, when its rigged right.. and this jusst with 1person in the boat.. Idk if a pad would do such a big difference in this 17' boat.. 🤔 If a pad was the best way to go for this hull, i would think more people would have done it.. But most people jusst enforce the original hull. Some ppl in the F17 community made a 3step version of the F17.. It didnt get people to start building steps either.. Ofc each ting got its pro's and con's.. But this boat with its 17feet is handling well, and doesnt need help getting air to the mix to get more lift by adding steps. And OFC i dont wanna bad mouth the speedpad.. But i think people would have added a pad, or hull-step if that was needed...
You are my inspiration 😊 maybe we can meet some day and fly together. I have 15ft HT boat with 115hp mercury and this fly too but max 45kt max. Swedish water like flyboats
Hello Sander and other viewers. Can you tell me which driving license rules apply to boats in Norway. Can you drive in the beautiful fjords with a German inland driving license or do you need a coastal or sea license? Thank you for the timely information. Very cool video!
If you are born before 1980 you dont need license. If the boat is shorter then 15m/49fot. Special bring Your own boat rules If you bring Your own boat no rules at all. And if the boat is shorter then 8m/26fot and have engine not bigger then 25hp you dont need license This can be a norwegian rent boat.
none of those will save your life if you crash at that speed. a lifejacket would be nothing other than a corpse retrieval devica at that point. if there's even much left.
Gyro and mobilgyro controll needed. Then this is the best smal boat. You also need beter prop the best is ducted 30% les fuel an more power. Lock it up. Then build it. The is the only thing that says Norway. Vinje company made this 80years ago remember. Restistans org. This Boat is heart of Norway. And need Evenrud motors back to Norway. Usa steels evry nice thing from Norway. 😅😮😢
Superb restomod package! Nice video and driving!

Only i Arendal are they crazy enough 👍🏻
What horsepower is that boat rated for?
Could not find "maximum engine size" anywhere but they usually have 90 to 150 hp.
Already with 150hp you get 45+ knots.
All the people here in Tvedestrand and arendal norway put over 200hp on those, one guy here has 500 on his
