Unfortunately on the 650 the ABS cannot be turned off. On your 1000, are you able to turn it off? I will try to find a demo bike to try the 1000. I love the sound of your's on the video.
Neither mine does't have a switch for ABS-off. You can install it yourself, but there is a way to turn-off the ABS without using the switch...on the 650 or 1000 V-Strom: Set the bike on a central stand so the rear wheel is in the air...hold the front brake...put it in gear and add throttle to rotate the rear wheel...after a few seconds, the light comes on and the ABS is disabled. To restart the sistem just turn-off the engine with key. At next start the ABS will work normally.
Love my V-strom. I bought it 1 year before the 1000 was put on market. I have only 1 critic about the 650, its the rear break, too soft, cant block the rear tire. I am thinking to change it for the V-strom 1000, or the versys 1000. Looking at you my heart goes to the v-strom....
Even at 650 the rear brake should block the tire...if ABS is turned off . Check your brakes and ABS. If you are going to change the bike I suggest to listen your heart ;). The V twin engine in V-Strom is much more fun then four piston versys.
Good clean fun
Majstore koja kontrola,bravo

Thats a great advice. Thanks !! Will try it as soon as the rain stops.
nice!! I have the 650. how the 1000 is handling?
Thanks.
There is no big difference in handling between 650 and 1000.
