As a Michigan Fan. His arm, legs and QB talent was always there. What makes this kid special is whats between the ears. He will be a TEAM guy and his teammates will battle for him. And the work he will do in the community will inspire others. Great family. Being a Vikings fan since Anthony Carter I was begging for this. Kid is a born winner. I was born and raised in Ohio as a Buckeye, but my Dad was always a vikings fan. I was born in 1998, so naturally one of my first shirts I ever had was a Randy Moss jersey. As a Buckeye it hurts my soul to root for a Michigan player now, but man every interview and off the field thing I see from him makes it really hard not to get behind him. Never thought I would root side by side with a Mich fan lol
At 10 or 11 hell yes. Had he come back to Michigan for his 4th year he would have been the #1 pick in 25. Kid is 27-1 as Michigan starter and just turned 21
Love this dude. As a UoM fan, he never had to display his high, natural QB talent with Blake and Donovan running all crazy. But when he did pass he managed the games well and rarely turned it over. Only 11 INTs over 3 years (2, 5 and 4). Kids pretty good. 😎
and 3 was in one game. He's going to be good. I'm a little mad an NFC north team picked him because I didn't want to have to root against him as a Lions fan, but I'll still cheer for him either way. Minnesota is a good franchise and sitatuation for him.

Earlier in the season, JJ was completing close to 80% of his passes and there was talks of him in the Heisman picture. Michigan didn't have the talent in their receiving corp as Ohio State, LSU, Washington, or USC. He will surprise a lot of people, given the talent he inherits on the offense side of the ball. He’s not even working with the first or second team. He hasn’t even thrown a pass in a preseason game. Slow down on anointing him The Next Great Thing.
suckeye fan has a new team to troll, because the one who made their team look soooo bad is the new Viking qb, see they dont have lives like the rest of us.
Except for that 6.82, 3 cone puts JJ in the rare athlete category for a QB. I don't think Cousins has JJ's arm strength either. Both are very good at play action +work the middle of the field at a high rate. Cousins is clearly already an accomplished pro I'm just comparing traits.
Such a wrong take. This kid has an incredibly strong arm, his ability and athletic ability allows him to make improv plays happen. His moxie and leadership is top notch. He has hockey background and is fearless. He is a Michigan Man. Not a Cousins lil bro Sparty.
@@florida1289 He is more athletic than Cousins but not especially athletic for an NFL QB. His play extension is limited to rolling right. His arm is good but not great. Since his tools are solid but not special, I don’t think he’ll be a great play extender in the NFL. He also needs to work on his accuracy and processing. He missed far too many defenders in college and threw interceptable balls. I see his floor being early career Alex Smith, who had a similar draft profile. None of Smith’s tools looked special early on, while flaws in his decision making were apparent. His ceiling is probably Dak Prescott. A guy with good physical and mental abilities but no special trait. He’ll consistently be a top 8-15 QB who can’t break that ceiling.
The Ponder pick was a reach, he never looked like first round pick at FSU. His arm strength was average, decision making was inconsistent, and he played against what was a very poor ACC at the time. JJ has shown flashes of elite arm talent at times, even in the run heavy offense that Harbaugh ran, he also made some head scratching throws and had a couple of Bowling Green type games.
