@@midw3st845 oh yeah especially because B-Flo is emphasizing more man defense so far this off-season with the CB's. I think it could make Evans better as well. I'm still having questions about Booth Jr though. 3rd rounder with huge upside but he hasn't made his way up the depth chart so maybe that's about work ethic or lack of football study on the side getting into the defensive playbook.

Sadly Hockenson is out for the first month of the regular season, maybe more but the Vikings have a lot of great, underrated pass catchers

Love JJM as a prospect QBoF, but right now we should be pulling for slingin' Sam Darnold to have an epic redemption year. At 26, Darnold is a veteran of two crappy teams and one great team, where he backed up Brock Purdy. When Purdy went down last year, Darnold stepped up and looked better than a backup for the 9ers. That's why the Vikings signed him to a $10 million contract for one year. I don't expect Darnold to have a Baker Mayfield recovery season, I expect him to play BETTER than that. Vikings have more talent on their offense than the Bucks do. Darnold's arm talent is better than Mayfield's. With all these fun toys, I expect Sam Darnold to cook like a master chef.

Claiming that McCarthy is already a bust because he can't beat out Sam Darnold. Ha that wasn't even on the table JJ was always supposed to be a development project QBoF. I hope the defense additions help Flores improve our pass rush. Offense should be good no matter who starts. I look for improvement week to week and being in contention at the end of season, if injuries don't cripple us.

The Vikings are the most underated team. I'm expecting Darnold to start the whole season and let McCarthy get brought in the right way.

@flyingfishsurf Hard to miss the playoffs when you win the division. Should be shooting for 3rd straight division crown. I mean just think not only did the Vikings have injuries to every superstar on the team, they used 4 different QBs and still would have won the division, had the officials not thrown 4 games for them last year. Think about that all the injuries and one of the toughest schedules in the leauge using 4 different QBs and that still wasn't enough to stop them from winning the division so the officials had to hand away the Vikings wins against KC, Den, and both games against Det.
Sammy D will be the guy all season. And he's going to be sensational.

Picking up Sam and with drafting a qb in the first round is pure genius being Sam can mentor jj with him being a 1st rounder and learning the same system at the same time.

Sit JJ for a year if they can, Darnold is a good QB who will be looking to improve his game, so he can move on as a starter with another team. Looking to see this team gel as the year moves ahead, become a true contender next year with quality draft/ free agency picks and JJ with a year to prepare.

JJ definitely has things to work on but he has so much time. He’s so young and probably won’t even be starting the season maybe not even get a start this year which means he may start next year at age 22 with a good year of training/learning under his belt

Excellent analysis of the Vikings. The Vikings hauled massively in the free agents they signed and the draft. In addition, I'm hearing that the Vikings picked up some exceptional talent in their (as yet) unsigned free agents. Expect 1 or 2 of those young guys to make the final 53-man roster.

I retired as a fan when Bud Grant retired but might be back this year. With regards to who to start week one I would start Darnold but would keep pressure on both in training camp to earn that spot.

Regardless of how this season goes, the Vikings need to let JJ sit for the season and learn the system. No one is expecting the Vikings to make a superbowl run this year and it makes no sense putting JJ into a situation that could break his confidence.

I expect JJ to sit. And learn. And sit. And learn. I think JJ will be the 3rd string all year unless Darnold sucks a big one AND Mullens can't get the job done. They know they will not rush him along, he's not even taking reps with the first stringers right now from what I've read.
Please note -- I am super stoked we have him -- but the Vikings know not to rush him along. That said, I don't see them being a playoff team next year -- as much as we may want to talk trash about other teams, the Bears will be scary good if Caleb Williams is the real deal and lives up to the first overall pick hype, he has a stud team now and a very weak schedule; Green Bay and Detroit are still very solid teams, and then Minnesota -- I feel sorry for teams who have to play this division this year, and this division will beat itself up over the course of the season. My prediction is somewhere between 7-10 and 10-7 for Minnesota -- and if they do go 10-7, they will take a wildcard spot, and lord help the teams if they make the playoffs.
