Saw him live in San Francisco at a short lived club called Milestones in the early eighties with Peter Washington on bass. Can’t remember the others. Teddy was great!!
Because he stayed in Los Angeles. The critical establishment is based in New York and doesn't consider too much outside of that area. Legends like Dexter Gordon, Eric Dolphy and Charles Mingus wouldn't be as well known if they stayed in LA.
@@EllingtonReflections He had the wrong Skin Color to be recognized as important West Coast Cool Jazz Musician. The big majority of Jazz Scribes are and were white, and he did not fit their narrative.

I confess....this is my 1rst time I hear Teddy Edwards and I am amazed by that. So many years hearing jazz and having losing this great player.
