- Due to an overwhelming amount of requests for a playthrough with me, I decided to just go for it. Welcome to my first ever Let's play!
I'm starting a brand new farm with my Wickedy avatar at the reigns. I have a few minor goals in mind, but we'll mostly be winging it for a while. Feel free to listen to me ramble and drop a few tips and my general strategy for a profitable farm.
Episode one is an introduction to a new farm on day 1 and 2 from the eyes of a seasoned player. Over PC, Mobile and console I'm now in it for about 1000 hours so I know just a few things and is still learning every day, especially with all these new features added.

I barely did anything my first year...once I figured out gay marriage was allowed all I cared about was marrying Leah immediately and now it's my second year and I got my wish :D
I understand it's too late for your Let's Play series, but I wanted to share that training rod isn't just for noobies, it's actually overpowered. It costs basically nothing at all, and helps you perfect catch everything, which is a massive x2.4 to your xp gain.
If you abuse this xp rate properly and combine this with strong day 1 strategy for making gold, then by 5pm on Day 3 you can sell your fish to Willy, buy a fiberglass rod + bait + trout soups, and start catching CATFISH on day 3. It's crazy good, definitely give it a try on your next run!
*(BEGIN WALL OF TEXT, DON'T READ IF NOT ACTUALLY INTERESTED)* Some tips to help those who are curious:
- Don't save stuff for the community center until day 4 or even later. Keeping those things cuts into your money and inventory space when both are at an extremely high premium. Sell everything you don't need for energy except a cheap artifact if you find one (first donation = 250g).
- Don't mine any more than you have to, to navigate your farm and plant your starter crop. Waste of time and energy.
- You won't get any crows with 15 or fewer crops, and you can reach lv2 farming with just 13 parsnips, so I like to sell 2 starter seeds and replace them with mixed seeds I find. Trash the rest of the mixed seeds for inventory space unless you have a chest handy.
- Day 1 chop enough tree crowns for a chest, then circle through the mountain, town, and forest for foragables, artifact spots, and weeds. Skip the beach due to time and inventory space, you can sell beach foragables to Willy on day 2 anyway. Your scythe requires no energy to use. Might take some practice to get an efficient route down. It helps to have an xp mod to see when you hit level 2 foraging so you can start shaking trees for seeds too, which you can turn into field snacks in the morning.
- Day 2 start fishing on the river in the town by Jodi's house, it's on the way back home for the night and river has highest average xp rate. Throw away trash, eat the algae and joja cola for energy and inventory space.
- Day 3 fish in the ocean with your regular rod (to get halibut and flounder, plus your level should be high enough), sell to Willy by 5pm closing time and you should have the necessary funds and level 4 fishing. You can tell when you hit level 4 because your casting range goes up by 1. Now you can hit the river for catfish! If you executed well or got lucky, you should be able to go catfishing (haha) earlier. Don't neglect to buy a few trout soup, the extra level helps when you're only level 4!
Strong opener like this is something you can consistently perform with practice and it gets you lots of money so you can have an upgraded backpack before you step into the mines. If you want to risk the crows, you can even buy green bean/cauli/potato seed from Pierre day 1 and complete the spring bundle for 20 speed-gro on day 12, so you can use it with strawberries on day 13. For bonus points, power up your foraging to level 3 on day 4 by chopping more tree crowns, day 5 get the copper needed to make furnace + copper bars for tappers and slap em on pine trees, then you can craft your own speed gro (also requires lv 3 farming and clams). Speed gro on strawberries is great so you can get 3 harvests instead of 2.

Actually a nice series. I'd like to watch this through to a satisfying conclusion. Personally I love that you're very goal orientated and are looking to play efficiently. This is exactly the way I like to play the game also, and you're giving me fresh ideas of how to do better on my next playthrough.

It's a very small difference, but after ten trees you notice it for sure.
Another advantage is foraging goes up with trees, but not stumps, so you can level foraging faster just doing the trees. The disadvantage with trees out in the wild is they'll never grow back, so when you don't have to worry about foraging so much, it's best to remove the stumps.
@@savedbygrace1582 I think they do. I chopped down the trees in the Mountains, but after a few days they grew back, in the exact same spot, and I never replanted them.

As someone whose favourite flower actually IS a daffodil, listening to you pronounce them the same way you would "crocodile" is cracking me up in the best way possible. Thank you for this lets play, I'll definitely continue watching!

Watching someone start over from the very beginning feels so nostalgic. I've put two hundred hours into one farm, I'm nearly in Year 7, and I'm nowhere near done. Early game SDV feels like an age ago.

Thanks! When I play I do record my thoughts and talk along, but I have a loud mechanical keyboard that clacks like crazy, so I listen to what I said during editing and rerecord it with a few added embellishments here and there. I'll pick up a quieter keyboard at some point so that I don't have to be so redundant. 🥰

I've just started this series! I recently bought the game, and I've been watching some playthroughs. Yours and WonkyPuppy's are the best that I've seen. I just absolutely love your commentary. Really nice video, I like your style of playing efficiently! Here are a couple of tips I have to add:
-you can check whether you’ve gotten enough xp to level up in the skills tab, it shows your progress before the night. Also I believe that once you do reach foraging level 1 trees do start to drop seeds during day 1.
-cracking open the first geode is well worth it if you don’t find an artifact right away because your first museum donation has a quest reward of 250g

You can only catch a couple different fish as your first fish. If the fish isn't naturally one of them, it will be a sunfish.

I love that you voice-over the gameplay rather than stream-of-consciousness. It's more work for sure, but worth it! Especially for Stardew Valley, which has lots of time that could be skipped or fast forwarded.
