    Hey Bud, a cutting disc is not a grinding disc. Just saying. Might blow up in your face (seen it happen)

      Look how thick it is, clearly a grinding disk not a cutting wheel

      Watch the second of the 2 parts and you will see why he commented about using a cutting disk for a grinder. In such a hurry to prove someone wrong you made yourself look smooth brained.

      Different material requires other drill point angles to drill effectively , just like Different drill bit sizes require slower or faster 😂speeds. And a center punch keeps your bit where you want it. A old timer will sharpen a dozen bits while you build these jigs.

    • @wjpreslar
      @wjpreslar 5 месяцев назад +4

      They don't think they're perfect. They're saying that people who trained for years under highly skilled craftsmen learned how to do this quickly without guides. Back when I learned, guides were available, but I was told by my teachers (craftsmen in their 70s) that guides were a crutch and that I'd never be able to run on crutches. The crutches are fine for weekend warriors who don't have time to learn the proper way to do the job. If you want to learn how to do the job quickly without complicated jigs, find someone like the person you've been castigating and ask. They are usually are gruff old men who'd be delighted by the question. Learning to do it right would take less time than making this jig.

      What is boring, the conversation of, wait for it …….. “ my daddy is bigger then your daddy “ “ blah blah “ 😮😢😂
      I am sure when “he” discovered the light bulb, some “ole timer, or daddy lover” said, “ why are you bothering with that for? We can use whale 🐳 oil, or candles, to light up our life!” These kind of replies are entertainment and amusing, at best.
      Finally, I am a master painter, with tips and tricks that would blow your mind on any finish, or faux painting, on any surface. Yet, I would “never” disdain or dispare anyone that said, this works for me. 🤔😉

    • @wjpreslar
      @wjpreslar 5 месяцев назад

      @SherylinRM Nice try on the high road, there. You claim to be "complimentary and encouraging" while disparaging an earlier commenter. When I clearly state that jigs are fine if you don't have the time, but learning how to do the job without them is faster and easier in the long run. You ignore that in my comment and continue your trollish gaslighting behavior. You can get around on crutches, but you'll never be fast.

      It is probably to hide the fact that the box section was centre punched the second time and the reason it was able to cut.
      No mention that if the point is not perfectly central the drill will not cut the correct size. It’s not that difficult to grind a drill by hand on a bench grinder and certainly not worth all that effort!

    Sure, this will help you to get your dull drill bits sharper, but you won't achieve true sharpness this way. You need to be able to roll the drill bit while maintaining the angle.
    Therefore it is beneficial to just grab a box full of dull or broken drill bits and start practicing sharpening by hand.

    As a very young apprentice i learn't drill sharpening by practice practice practice, drilling chassis rails needed a very sharp drill.
    At trade school we were shown the basics, angles even simitry and rake relief. I failed infact i got a big fat 0.0 because teacher accused me of presenting a brand new drill from the box.
    I admit i was taken back how was i to prove i actually ground the drill.
    Then it dawned on me that the drill was shorter than the new drills by an inch so asking teach to reevaluate my work showing his error.
    95 % pass mark was the best i could get from him Lol
    P.S. having a sharp drill is only half of the equation, the incorrect speed is the number one killer of a sharp drill.
    Just one more thing, they are drills not bits .Bits go into braces thats a old school tool used by hand for drilling.
