    I've been an aviation enthusiast my entire life... and while I would agree there is an aesthetic beauty to be appreciated in MOST air frame designs, the 747 has always been the most pleasing to my eyes.... The "Queen" of the skies for a reason. And the -8 is the best looking of them all.

    Landing in MEX is awesome!!! Every time I fly into Mexico City, I try and request a window seat by the left side of the airplane so I can see the city on approach!! Nice video!

    Very impressed with how quiet the Boeing 747 - 8i is, didn't even hear the reverse thrust after touch down.

    I just LOVE those huge wings! And especially seeing the tips flexing so effortlessly like rubber. My fav aircraft since I was a kid and still now, 40 years later. Will be sad to see this Queen no longer take to the skies. I hope I can get one more flight soon. Last one was in 2011, also on Lufthansa. Best flight ever.

    747 forever! She's a beauty and the queen. Flew with her twice: with PIA to JFK and with BA to San Francisco. So much more charisma than the A380!!

    You really need to 'hammer it down' in MEX in those conditions, its an un-grooved limiting runway, plus hot and high. Its one of the more challenging destinations on the 744 I fly.

    I study physics and aeronautics yet no matter how well i understand the forces and how these structures are build't it's always amazing to think about the forces these machines need to absorb just from one trip alone, much respect to the engineers and the builders, who make these things happen.

    There are frequently storms around Mexico City and it is a tricky approach. In bad weather the aircraft takes some stopping due to the amount of diversion fuel onboard. Some Captains will take enough fuel to go back to Houston or Dallas.

    If I had a choice on an aircraft to fly through pretty rough weather, it would have to be the 747-400, 747-8, built solid and heavy freight strong. And yes I’m big on those flexing wings on the -8 and 787

  • @VampireParrot
    @VampireParrot 7 лет назад +1

    It's a large aircraft... and yet, the wing is so responsive to roll inputs - the combination of outboard, inboard ailerons and spoilers reacting so quickly, it's a real pilot's aircraft

    At 7,200 feet elevation, warm weather that increases the density altitude, possible rain, high indicated ground speed and an ungrooved runway, you need to pay attention.

    I experienced this same approach (dodging clouds) and landing in a B.747 during 2001. My trip was to visit the Mexican Navy chaps. Several weeks after my trip, which was well received, the americans instigated their attacks in New York and the Pentagon. Then they donated 27 aircraft to the Mexicans. My business offer was cancelled. [Aussie in BC]
