My dad was a blue collar man but I married a academic with a PhD. I love him dearly but kinda miss my very handy father, my he rest in peace 🙏 😊
It is nice to have my husband on the same page as me. My sister loves DIY, but her partner isn't very handy (has other strengths), so she always steals our dad or brother or my husband in her schemes. We grew up in fixer uppers so we have it in our blood!

I just love your closet. I have been looking at closet setups. Of course I will have to have my handymen put it together. I use to do all this stuff myself but at 76 it's harder for me to handle the heavy cupboards & I don't do trim...lol

You don't have to buy from ikea to use the ikea pax planner on their website. Type in your room measurements and then play around with the cabinets to get measurements to DIY! It helped me a lot to see it in 3D

I'll be honest. Was beginning to think this day would never come. You have done a beyond amazing job. Such a quirky space and you fit in so many units and provided so much storage. Beautiful! That would have been at least $5000 if you’d had it built and installed by a closet company!
I had bids 7-10k I said no way! Even modular or easy closets were 5k but build ourselves. I'm too cheap for that!

I have been decluttering a lot this past year as far as clothes and it shows! We are going to go through our dressers and hang up whatever we can. We have so much room now!!

You found 13 in depth units! They have been out of stock in my area for YEARS!! lol
That's what took so long!! Sourcing all the correct unit sizes. I would stalk my 3 stores (all 2 hours away) put in a online pick up order and they canceled 3 times 😬 Finally when they were back in stock we just drove like mad and got them as we could. It was a whole deal!
@@JessieLifestyleAtHome sounds about right! I recommend getting any extra drawers or shelves you think you might beed in the future. More than one sales rep told me the pax system is being discontinued in July 2024. At least the 13in depth I wanted.
Ahhh so maybe that's why I couldn't get some of the inserts I wanted with the 13" like the pull out shoe racks and the glass shelves! They weren't available in that size.

Turned out great Jessie as for your jewellery place tinfoil in a bowl shiny side up I use a
tablespoon of vinegar and tablespoon of baking powder plus hot water and leave for about 40 minutes all my silver and gold jewellery it comes up so clean,have a lovely weekend 😊

I didn't share my budget but the overall closet was around 4k for everything.

That's so awesome. I hope it turns out amazing. My closet a smaller L shaped closet, but we packed a lot of storage in here. It is about 8ft x 4 ft in the longest run . The pax planner helped me with space planning a lot even if you don't use their products it helped me visualize in 3D.

It was around 2k for the ikea materials and around 1k for other materials and supplies. So, it is not inexpensive but still more affordable than a closet company doing it for us.

Hi Jessie! I absolutely love your closet. One word of advice is yo7 may want to put wood floors in your closet instead of rugs. Rugs can be so nasty and get so worn especially in a closet. We put really nice luxury vinyl plank flooring in our from Lowe’s. It’s so nice and feels real. No bacteria harboring rugs.😊

Himself was a welder/QC for nearly 50 years and he is just like your husband. Can't see the idea I have, but after all my blathering and arm waving he makes it happen just as I saw it in my head. I am his assistant and his chief fetcher. We can disagree (and often do!) but it gets done and I am thankful for him
It's the best! He is always amazed at how good it turned out and I just know it will the whole time.

It looks beautiful I wish I had a closet like that I have a very small closet with no door I can’t put clothes in it because it’s so small. I need to have a contractor come and redo sheet rock in my bedroom because our house was built in the 60’s very small Jim Wilder home you remember those. My father-in-law had some man with arthritis put sheet rock up and it’s horrible. I would fix it myself if I didn’t have this heart issue my husband is bedridden. My stepdad was going to do it but he had a stroke. Now I’m stuck I want new flooring down I’m going to do both bedrooms if I had the money I would hire someone now but I’m waiting until I get my inheritance then I’m going to have both bedrooms done
I am very thankful for the space. My first house was built in 1910 so the closets were so tiny in that house as well. It is a struggle in older homes.
It is a struggle we thought about moving into a new home but this house is paid for and way times are we decided to remodel instead when I get my inheritance so we don’t get in debt we want to add on to our house hopefully we can. It’s going to be hard with my husband health and my own I am dreaming of a walk in closet
Yours is beautiful we don’t have ikea around here I live in East Tennessee the nearest one is Atlanta or Charlotte. I would love to drive there and look but I’m on driving restriction’s I can only go around my area. It’s because my heart is so bad. I pass out a lot

Hi Jessie. I totally get what you mean by "we" did a project. You were right there doing work also. You two are a team and work so well together. My husband was a blue-collar worker, and when we did projects around the house, I dreamed it. He did the main manual labor, and I was the helper. And, of course, there would be a little bickering. Lol. The most important thing is that in the end, you both did an amazing job on the closet, and you're both happy with it. One would never know the flooring is peel and stick. Looks so good. Congratulations on it being completed!!!
