I think you're confusing contract length and amortization length, contact length in basically unlimited but amortization length was shortened because of Chelsea to I think 5 years, so I player can have a 9 year contract but you're still only allowed to amortize it over 5 years, meaning pay a portion each year over 5 years which reduces your yearly cost for PSRs rolling 3 year cycle
20:32 Last I checked, the rules changed to stipulate no matter how long the contract, the amortisation limit for a player fee is only 5yrs so Palmer getting 9yrs has nothing to do with PSR...definitely agree they're stockpiling 😂😂
Great pod boys as always! Just one thing: Amortisation of contracts is only allowed for a maximum of up to 5 years now, so the example you gave of Cole Palmer's deal to City could only be extended to a maximum of 5 years, ie 8mill a year to City. Also, him extending his contract wouldn't reduce the amount they would pay to City each year, which is what it sounded like there 😂 Toon for top 4, you know what you're talking about Goldbridge!
As a Chelsea fan, I’m more than happy to accept criticism on how the club is run in certain aspects. For example, the Gallagher situation has been handled terribly. However, the lack of research on contracts is pretty annoying. They’re signed on long deals for amortisation purposes. Also, bonuses are implemented in the contracts based on performances. Palmer was already on a long contract but received a pay increase and signed an additional 2 years. They’ve introduced this format to remove the previous regime of paying players on incredibly high wages. I.e., Lukaku on 325k a week

What I don’t understand about the length of the Chelsea contracts is why no other club is doing it? Like you say, Newcastle have the richest owners and they aren’t doing the same. I don’t believe that Chelsea are the only club to find this loophole. The whole ownership at Stamford Bridge seems chaotic
Mark has spent years telling us he doesn't watch the Bundesliga/Serie A/Ligue 1 ect but when they sign someone like De Ligt or Yoro he knows all about their game and pundits don't have a clue... 😂
22:18 This is why you people just need to stop talking about Chelsea. You have absolutely no clue what you’re talking about. The players Chelsea are signing are on very low wages. The average salary at Chelsea is currently £60k/week. So no Mark, we won’t be like United because we don’t dish out £250k/week to Harry Maguire
I mean it's easy to bring the average down when you make a squad of like 45 players - the average wage is close to 80/90k and the overall wage which is more important is 3.5m second highest in the league when the team is by no means the second best in the league - I don't think the wage bill is Chelsea's biggest concern but you can skew things a bit depending on your bias. Man Utd are a joke when it comes to wages though, agree with you on that.
I don' think there is any doubt the players you're signing are talented and not on huge wages, yes the fees are quite high for what are essentially development projects but that's the philosophy the club is going for. My only worry is how the players are developed and managed - hard to develop young players when the first team is a bit all over the place and management changes quite frequently. If they get put out on good loan moves or get given decent game time then they could definitely develop them into top players, you have to think of say 10 wonderkid signings, 2 or 3 should turn out as first teamers and the others can make a bit of money perhaps. It's risky when you don't have the basics in place though is my only concern but Chelsea have always had a similar policy just maybe a bit more low key and focused around the under19s/21s.
do you live under a rock? lukaku is over 300k a week..sterling the same ..reece james 250k.......fofana 200k injured all season...200k chillwell who is garbage...nkunku 195k you have 13 players 120 each above LOL

Seems to be splitting opinion
22:18 This is why you people just need to stop talking about Chelsea. You have absolutely no clue what you’re talking about. The players Chelsea are signing are on very low wages. The average salary at Chelsea is currently £60k/week. So no Mark, we won’t be like United because we don’t dish out £250k/week to Harry Maguire
Seriously.
@@robevans5507 And Nkunku and Fofana are the only two of those with 5 years on their deals. They were talking about having trouble getting rid of guys on 9 year deals. So no, I'm not living under a rock, I just have a brain.
Charlie Taylor. Young English player. Geezer's about 45.
Dude, Chelsea offered Gallagher a extension for like 2 years and he turned it down proposals with best clubs salary and he is on the last year of his contract as well so getting money out of it is sensible
"find the loopholes later"😂 we already found them lol
What was the fpl code? Can't rewatch it all 😂😂 somebody help me out

With me being a Liverpool fan I think we will finish 3rd again but I will take that consider the new era that is about to begin
Where are united’s goals coming from to be above Liverpool Tottenham Chelsea or even Newcastle and Villa?
Don't think Ashworth was good at nufc, was at Brighton, so who knows what will happen
