Day 49: Considering that the last player who played in the miracle of Bern died about 7 months ago, I would really like to see a video about the whole story between Germany and Hungary, especially because it meant so much to at least the German population
Henderson got sent off in the 3-2 game vs Man City in 2013/14 season and I remember saying “this could be an issue in the next few games” and I am 100% certain that if he had of played in that 2-0 loss to Chelsea, Gerrard would not have slipped
Fun fact #5:No English manager has won the Premier League. The last to do so was Howard Wilkinson who won the Football First League Division with Leeds United the prior year of the league being renamed to Premier League(1991-92). P.S.I have to also thank you for the effort you put on these videos especially this one I enjoy them very much.
Just think the 70s and 80s were dominated by English managers, then Kenny Dalglish, George Graham and Sir Alex Ferguson dominated for Scottish Managers before Mr Wenger started the international contingent of managers. Here is a question does anyone think a well known current English manager will win a PL in the next ten years? Potter has just taken over at Chelsea but he has to overcome Man City and Pep who are in the driving seat for money, experience and management of all the PL clubs right now.
@gm2407 and before Dalglish took over from fagen and paisley before him it was another scot, shankley who set Liverpool on their their way to dominating England and Europe until the late 80s .

Request: with the news that the 2022 world cup will employ new technology to make automated offside calls, I'd be interested in a video highlighting other innovations that have debuted at world cups. Like how the 1970 world cup introduced yellow and red cards for the first time.
13:20 Petr Cech and Robben’s transfers were agreed whilst Claudio Ranieri was Chelsea manager so they weren’t Mourinho signings as suggested in the video 👍
Cantona won 5 titles out of 6 seasons the one being the season he was suspended and both Wright and Henry became Arsenal's all-time top scorers partnering Bergkamp.
i dont personally agree with the central defender and attacking midfields 1st place cause i think terry and lampard deserved it better but most people will find your selection really accurate and i'm one of them great video and nicely done. thinks for the efforts
Lamps is the highest goalscoring and top 3 assisting midfielders so how he's not number one baffles me. Terry being 2nd is just ridiculous. The guy was the captain with most titles won and has the most cleansheets as well as the most goals from a CB. Rio is great but Terry as an individual achieved so much more. Im convinced this channel hates Chelsea.
Personally I think Terry was lucky to get the number 2 slot. He was excellent but seems to be overrated by people who love the 'all action' style as the pinnacle of defending. I tend to think a CB should be rated on how often they can snuff out danger early with great positioning, organisation and calmness. Charging across the box for a last ditch slide tackle looks impressive on a YT reel, but it usually means your CB has left themselves exposed. Players like Rio, Stam, Campbell, Carvalho and VVD (during his short peak) were the epitome of good CBs for me, exuding calmness, rarely looking flustered. I may be biased because I'm a United fan and Terry is a dickhead, but he doesn't make my top 5.
@@enciam3680 pfft the qualities u listed for a good CB are all in terry's playstyle. yeah u really are biased cause if u really watched him u should know that chelsea in contrast to liverpool arsenal man united weren't a team that focused on keeping the ball and playing possession football but a counter attack team. they were 1 of the team that would take more opposition attack out of the top 6 and still were the best defense and there's a reason to that. VVD have no place in this argument about best CB's. ferdinand is a very good CB and a great captain but there's a reason why terry was england captain chelsea captain and achieved so many thing despite being in a team where before him it was just an average team.
@thegamehelperz2746 Hard disagree. It's much easier being a defender for a Mourinho team who plays counter attacking football, has 2 defensive fullbacks and Makelele in front of you. Terry's job was to be organised, head the ball and lead a low block. This is what I mean about him being limited: even in this system, he would frequently get caught out of position and have to go sliding in to stop an opponent. He was a good leader and was excellent in the air, but in terms of actual defending I don't even think he was the best CB in his own side. Carvalho was a more accomplished defender imo.
@@enciam3680 u definitely never watched him play and in that case whatever i say wont go through u. i wonder if u are hearing yourself? IF TERRY ISN'T THE BEST CB then i guess the rest aren't even good to play football
As a Canadian looking at these choices, I am thinking of the best hockey players to grace the NHL since I started watching the game as a kid. One player that really stands out is Bobby Orr. Part of a matched pair of defencemen (like centre backs in football) he actually finished as top scorer twice in his career, and forever changed the idea of "a rushing defenceman". He won everything that was going except best goalie: top scorer, most valuable player, top defenceman, best player in the playoffs -- you name it. There was a glow in the sky over his home town while he was still in elementary school, and if he hadn't been born with glass knees, who knows what he would have done? Still a much beloved fellow in Canada.
I grew up in Canada. Big hockey fan, always a shame Gretzky is the only player about ten percent of Brits could name. Orr or Lemieux would have been mine but both were blighted by injury and illness. Jagr deserves a mention for sheer longevity. Although as a goalie Hasek was probably my all time favourite NHLer.

Would love to see this. Three domestic cup finals between 1997-1998, Winning league cup in 2004, qualifying for UEFA cup through premier league in 2005 and reaching UEFA Cup final in 2006 👌
Love this video so much. Watched all of the initial videos leading up to this in a binge. I think the chosen 11 to play together is so interesting not just because it’s about who is best but what style of football is preferred, which based on what era you prefer will differ heavily. Love HITC Sevens, thanks for all the great work you do!
A video about the success story of Port Vale since Carol Shanahan took over, considering we just won the playoff final. Her charity work, bringing in Darrell Clark, then the things he went through this season. Plus we were on a winning streak and 1 point off the playoffs and she voted to end the first covid season early.....The fact our ground was nearly bought and demolished for a car park or shopping centre or something before that as well Carol saved the club.
You said "signed for a sum of *just* £7.1m" about Cech, but that was a huge fee for a goalkeeper at that time, but todays standards it might not seem much, but at the time it absolutely was.
Your Henderson Stat at 1:01:46 is wrong mate. Henderson has obviously not made the most passes in the PL era. Just the most of any player since 06/07 (when player pass quantity started to be recorded) Didn’t you find it weird that he had more passes than people like Gareth Barry? 😂Great video though, love the long-form vids.
Gareth Barry has played more passes than every single footballer of all time, combined Diego Maradona once said ‘If I had a left-foot like [Gareth Barry], I’d have won at least 10 World Cups. But I didn’t so I only won one’ before bursting into tears and snacking a massive brick of chalk
I am pleased to here you talk about Rob Jones I rated him as one of the best right backs I have seen had he been injury free we would talking about him as one of the best in the world in that position
I feel so old cos I remember the whole De Gea arch lol. From how shaky he was to start from how amazing he was, to how maligned he became. What a crazy arch
Although I don't agree with some of your picks and/or rankings (especially with Vidic as just the 5th CB), this is a quality video and the amount of work behind it must not be underestimated.
I know that this might be controversial but Mousa Dembele deserves to be here, he's just something else completely and one of the most talented players in the PL era without many considering him
Moyes getting the 6 spot in managers above league winners surprises me. But I will have to concede that some of the title winning managers not on the list have been considerd to have bought the title, or just taken over already established Chelsea and City sides.
Im grateful that you put Yaya Toure on this list 🙌, He deserves it. The fact that Man City does not have a Statue of him outside the Emirates is truly heartbreaking, He deserves more.
Im city through and through, born and bred. Trust me if yaya deserves a statue for two seasons so should Zabaleta, Joe Hart, Clichy, fernandinho dzeko etc.... can you see the problems. Plus he called pep racist because he didn't get a cake for his birthday. A grown man multi millionaire needed a cake from city.... he was great but he was rude arrogant and a bit of a prick. He once told city players he was the second best at Barca after Messi. Yup he put himself above Xavi Iniesta villa etc... he played CB for them haha
I remember Joe Cole being described as the best young prospect at West Ham when they had Carrick, Lampard and Defoe. I believe Ferdinand had gone to Leeds when I heard that. Golden generation had coaches that wanted 4 4 2 but all the players that needed 4 3 3 to make the most out of them.
imagine England playing with a diamond with carrick at the bottom, gerrard and becks in the middle and lampard at the top. I blame the media desperately wanting becks at right wing and insisting on 442 with wingers limiting the team
Stella work. You mentioned it, but have you done: 7 greatest individual performances over a single premiership season? Eg ronaldo 2007/8, cantona 1996/7, haaland 2022/3.???
Forget the Ronaldinho lob, I saw the bloke from Kasabian lob Seaman at soccer aid. I was right behind the net. Its one of the best goals I've ever seen at Old Trafford
The reason De Gea is controversial is more because he happened to be there during United's unsuccessful period. If not for him, they'd have been actually tragic. They hardly deserved him at that stage.
Another quality video. If you didnt have people disagreeing with you or threatening you etc you wouldnt be doing your job right. Eg Phil Babb should be in or a mention for comedy performances alone. Ashley Cole perhaps his diving skills not mentioned. Roy Keanes tarmacking skills etc. Overall as any other videos I've seen of yours very good. Thats not to say if I find out william prunier not mentioned it could change everything. Over looking that will give you most of them and may have already said very good channel. I'll leave it there as its on david silva and i pressume suadi and uae bribery and other high jinks that those scamps at city were getting up to. Also stephen Gerrard for ruining Liverpools chances of winning the league twice I think. Like badd classic comic moments
I'd have had Brad Friedel in those goalies. I remember one match when he played for Villa where it seemed to be Manchester United v Friedel. He also very rarely made gaffs.
Seeing Trent in this 3rd place made me laugh sooo hard, that’s absolutely ridiculous for you to put him even in the list and above such legends. Absolute disgrace.
Day 22 - The Fall and Rise of FK Velež Mostar From a Club that has beaten Borussia Dortmund, Twente, Derby County and many others to a club that was forced from their own stadium, reduced to nothing during the Bosnian War, becoming a mediocre top-level team in the 00s to nearly being forced into folding in 2016 to its amazing comeback to European competitions in 2021 seeing the early exit of Greek giants AEK Athens in a sensational win in Athens!
Best German players in the premier league of all time. (Day 345) I will not give up until the video is made or Alfie himself tells me to stop. Everyone else telling me that will be ignored. If you don't believe my number, just go back to the previous videos. I'm at the bottom most of the time, but I'm there.
If you were hoping for Klinsmann to be 1st he only had 56 appearances in the prem. Other than Klinsmann only really Ballack and Hamman have made an impact. We don't get many Germans in the league that make an impact on the league. You could easily name 5 that were terrible/ under par

@@lewissthompson2005 Of course not 😄
Wow Alfie- these vids aren’t for the faint hearted are they?
I’ve had a couple of breaks while watching the fist hour, over the course of a full day!
Can you do "the most left and right leaning club in every European Country?" I love these kind of videos and I think it would be really interesting.
Alfie should do a story on St Pauli alone.
Both great suggestions
St Pauli and Lazio?
@@archstanton6102 In Italy it would be Livorno and Lazio maybe yes
He's already done a two parter on most political clubs
Alfie can you do a video of the 7 best players in each position of the UEFA Champions League era and an all time Greatest XI
Peter Schmeichel as GK is like Haaland is to being a striker. You're pretty bob on, good list. Took me down memory lane, ta
Nice work, also do the current best 7 in each position, going by last season or last 3 seasons
god i love this channel
Joe Hart has to be up there with goalkeepers.... Top 5 for me
Honorable mention on the left 7 is Damien Duff
This channel is so good and informative. Especially compared to the inane gibberish from the sister channel
How would City have a statue outside the Emirates ? 😅🤣
They didn't even bake him a birthday cake!
@@philwill0123blaming “the media” instead of… you know… the coach that literally picked the team…. Is quite a choice
Stella work.
You mentioned it, but have you done: 7 greatest individual performances over a single premiership season? Eg ronaldo 2007/8, cantona 1996/7, haaland 2022/3.???
Actually this is probably just listing the best pfa played of the year. Didn’t think that through
An immensely ambitious undertaking, done very well. Brilliant work sir. You got me with Crouchy, though!
This is a masterclass of a video thank you so much for this gem 💎
Forget the Ronaldinho lob, I saw the bloke from Kasabian lob Seaman at soccer aid. I was right behind the net. Its one of the best goals I've ever seen at Old Trafford
Glad to see Dixon, Adams and Winterburn all make the 7 in their respective positions
This is masterclass 👌🏻
Great to see Rob Jones get a mention. Tremendous full back.
The reason De Gea is controversial is more because he happened to be there during United's unsuccessful period. If not for him, they'd have been actually tragic. They hardly deserved him at that stage.
De Bruyne for me when he leaves the prem will be in both teams and also will be the best attacking midfielder of all time in the premier league
You could argue he’s already the greatest
This one deserves way more love
Never a mufc or becks fan but he always turned up for the big games when really needed
Shay Given is the only gk that could concede 5 goals v LFC (or anyone else) and still be the player of the match. GOAT.
Says something about the defenders on front of him.
@@gm2407 Definitely, the entire team in front of him was utterly dreadful that match.
Love how the vid is 3 hours and 6 mins but the longest part so far has been the introduction 🤣
I'd have had Brad Friedel in those goalies. I remember one match when he played for Villa where it seemed to be Manchester United v Friedel. He also very rarely made gaffs.
The algorithm always puts me into this video when I go afk for a while
Seeing Trent in this 3rd place made me laugh sooo hard, that’s absolutely ridiculous for you to put him even in the list and above such legends. Absolute disgrace.
The comment I was looking for. Great video but common Trent!!???
If Trent is top 3 defenders in prem ever then prem has to be a joke.
Will watch this over the 4th July weekend
Day 22 - The Fall and Rise of FK Velež Mostar
From a Club that has beaten Borussia Dortmund, Twente, Derby County and many others to a club that was forced from their own stadium, reduced to nothing during the Bosnian War, becoming a mediocre top-level team in the 00s to nearly being forced into folding in 2016 to its amazing comeback to European competitions in 2021 seeing the early exit of Greek giants AEK Athens in a sensational win in Athens!
Glad to see Shay Given get a mention 👏🏼
This. Was. Amazing
Best German players in the premier league of all time. (Day 345)
I will not give up until the video is made or Alfie himself tells me to stop. Everyone else telling me that will be ignored.
If you don't believe my number, just go back to the previous videos. I'm at the bottom most of the time, but I'm there.
Perhaps he is tired of the spam.
Im rooting for you. Maybe hell do it after 365 days
Keep going mate
If you were hoping for Klinsmann to be 1st he only had 56 appearances in the prem. Other than Klinsmann only really Ballack and Hamman have made an impact. We don't get many Germans in the league that make an impact on the league. You could easily name 5 that were terrible/ under par
Ignore my last reply, I looked it up myself and there were some belters in there!!!! I'm sorry I'm on your team now
I DID IT!!!!!...😤... 😂😂😂.. I actually watched it in one sitting..
I work nights on my own, this was perfect. I usually watch 4-8 episodes of a boxset a night. So this was a breath of fresh air.
Class video that
Damn, why you do Mexico like that? 😅. No era penal!.. great vid as always
Has Alfie done a “best for the value” vid? Seamus Coleman being mentioned made me think of it
I still fail to understand why Vidic is so underrated and underappreciated , i will always put him over RIO
This will never be broken!
