The spirits were great and I like how they are finding their own identity with local sourced ingredients, herbs, spices from the island. I toured the whole island, went snowmobiling and hit all the major tourist sites. Hiked a lot. I can’t wait to go back. -Jeff
@@drinkdestinations yes we used to do a spirit from the Angelica plant both roots and seed pods it has a very distinct flavour that i love :-) we have allso a thriving craft beer scene where some are using local ingredience such as whale products you have to come try it out :-) Bergthor
@@drinkdestinations it was only beer that was under prohibition untill 99 but strong liquer could be bought the whole time :-) and we did drink a boat load of it hehe wen i was a lot younger in 87-88 during the high season in cod fishing we got people from all over the world working here for ca 10-12 weeks we had partys every weekend friday and saturday on friday i drank 1 700ml bottle of stoli vodka and half a bottle of chivas whiskey we started 10pm stopped around 3:30-4 am the sat morning in to work at 8am untill 9:30-10pm and same amount of booze again those foreigners were asleep by 2:30-3 as they could not keep up :-) crazy but fun times :-) now just turned 50 i can only do half that hehehe

Yeah it was awesome learning about all this. I just finished up a story about prohibition in Iceland ending in 1999. Couldn’t believe that.
