This is a very thorough tutorial. I love it! I learned far more watching this half an hour video than paying for classes that I've had to hours of my day coming and going to. For my future reference, I'd like to have a more thorough understanding of how to process bank interest that is automatically downloaded into quickbooks online. Also I'd like to know how I process these during my bank reconciliation.

Hi Hector! I have worked in QB's DT for 15 years and am now learning QBO. Your tutorials are great. I just have one qualm with bank downloads...WHY?? As a bookkeeping professional, it is my job to enter all transactions in a timely manner so the books are always up to date, which includes checking online banking. With the exception of merchant fees and maybe some bank fees. ALL of these banking transactions (checks written/deposits made, etc.) should already be in the register (bank account). So it this feature for folks who are not recording daily activities? In my opinion, this feature creates the burden of an extra layer of time consuming work: checking/matching, etc. However, I do feel this is GREAT for credit cards charges! It is very time consuming to enter individual charges from a statement each month.

How to avoid duplicated entries in this context, especially so that it doesn't mess up payroll expenses: wages balance in P&L or Balance Sheet Reports.

Bruce Dickerson journal entries generally are best to fix this.
Hector Garcia CPA while reconciling, is there a way to just mark a check clearing without it counting again as a payroll wages?
Bruce Dickerson yes.. but I can’t answer that without seeing HOW your payroll company imports data... all payroll companies import data differently..
