I still have a question about bank feeds. When I'm using bank feeds to enter in credit card payments or transfer funds between bank accounts, how do I know to use Categorize or Transfer or Credit Card Payment etc. I keep ending up with duplicate transactions that I then have to void to clear them up.... such a mess and on and on. It seems like it would be so easy and then I end up spending my whole day cleaning up the tangled trail. Thank you for these great and helpful videos!! Perhaps there is already a video for this??

Categorize - use when you assign expense to the account (let's say printing paper to the "office supplies" account), transfer - use when u record a money transfer between your banks, CC payment - use when pay off a credit card balance (usually once a month)

Hi! Very informative video! I need to listen to it again as I didn't catch everything the 1st time but that's ok!! I have had quickbooks online for 6 months or so....I have been doing the credit cards like bank transactions and It has been a mess. I have one credit card payment that has never come back thru the banking match. Not sure what to do about that. In the meantime, I'm going to try to switch all my credit card transactions to paid by cc instead of my checking account. Do you have any suggestions for me?

This really helped wrap my mind around the credit card features in QB. How would I handle a Google invoice that is paid by credit card, the activity on the Google statement is billable to the client, and is usually a little different from the total charges on the statement, and then the credit card company auto withdraws $100k from our bank account, whenever that threshold is met? Thanks in advance!

Hi Candus, thank you so much for the video, it is very helpful! I had set up autopay for one of my credit cards with a statement balance, however, for some months, the autopay amount was different from the statement balance. after I saw your video, you said we can cancel the check after you hit the reconcile button on QB desktop (as you said you have to make sure the "difference is 0") and just enter the check amount of auto payment on the next statement later on, correct?

Great video less. Thank you! Currently, I use the monthly credit card statement to consolidate all monthly transactions into one bill and match/record the payment according to the monthly statement. Is there a way to maintain this process when uploading the statement, or must each transaction be treated individually? Using this method I balance each CC monthly to the statement and only reconcile the cash accounts.

Your list of menus on the left is different than mine - for example, the way you get to Expense is in the Accounting menu, but I don’t have that option…it’s within the Expenses menu - which technically I can access adding transactions to a credit card, checking, etc. Multiple ways - IF as long as the Expense fill in is the same destination. So am I ending up at the same destination as you to enter these? Thanks! PS - FINALLY…someone teaches in a way that is conducive to my learning style!!!

I noticed while categorizing the expenses you categorize it to office supplies . But why do some people choose the credit card account under the category like in this case card 1234 . Is this what you do when yo transfer payment ?
You can do it as an expense by the categorizing it in this case categorize it as ”office supplies”
But can you also select the credit card account such as “visa 1234 “ and then when categorizing the checking count amd we see the payment to the credit card we select “credit card payment “
Can you talk about the difference between the two?

I used this feature a few times and it has had me so confused and I've been searching all over RUclips to better understand this feature. I heard you say you recommend we don't use this feature, which for now I stopped using it, but I still would like to have a better understanding of how it is suppose to work. It seems like QB enters the Bill as a payment (so confusing). Also if I don't have a Bill for my credit card in QBO I don't know of another way to track a payment for the card is coming due (It won't show on my unpaid bills report). Finally, Is there a way to see the Open available Credit I have on a Credit card in QBO? Thanks for your time.

Hi Candus, I'm used to doing CC entries your way; however, I've worked for companies who enter it as a bill and enter each expense into that bill. It's created double entries as sometimes the cc is attached to a paypal refund for example, and that refund has already been entered and reconciled with paypal. Anyway, at these companies, bills were paid off monthly. Do you still recommend making that payment entry straight from bank account? What is the difference from using that "pay down cc" feature under new and other? I saw a video that said you can't make a mistake there. If you've already been entering cc as a bill with each expense as individual lines on that bill and you want to switch over to this way, is that possible?

      Hi Diana,
We typically don't recommend entering bills because it causes issues. This video might help you understand how to correct bills: canduskampfer.com/how-to-enter-and-pay-a-bill-in-quickbooks-online/

Love your videos! I have no issues reconciling the credit card, however, I just undid a reconciliation. When I clicked “undo last reconciliation” the pop up shows the current balance and previous balance as negative balances. Is that normal or did I do something wrong along the way? The number are correct and match the statements but they reflect a negative amount when clicking “undo last reconciliation” Thanks for your help in advance!

Thank u. Great video. Quick question so u reconcile bank statment and visa statement separately? For an exaple i pay visa payment online $850.00 that payment showes every month on my bussines bank statement , so once i reconcile monthly statement then i have reconcile
Visa credit card statement for each month? Am i understanding u correctly?
Do i have to enter visa transactions right after monthly reconciliation is completed or can i enter them at any time because those two are different transactions and one would not interfere with the other one as long as they are entered in monthly order.
I am an apartment owner 125 units i was wondering if there is anything else that i should be doing to keep strong detail record thank u so much

What if you orginally had linked your credit card to quickbooks and in the middle of the year you deleted it and then added it back and it only let me go back a few months. what do I do. Help

      Hi,
To be able to add prior months, you can either download them from your credit card company and import them or you'll have to go back and manually add them.

My Credit Card transactions gets transferred to QB automatically, but the charges of the Credit Card are showing up on QB as "Received" instead of "Spent". How do I change those transactions/purchases done with the Credit Card to show up as "Spent" instead of "Received" to be able to add them properly?

@@CandusKampfer Thank you for responding. I watched the video, but I need to change the beginning balance of a credit card. I'm missing something, because all the videos I've watched show how to change a bank beginning balance, but not a credit card. Even the steps I found given in google search don't work. That's why I thought you may have a video showing how. btw: I love your videos. Very easy to follow and understand. I can't reconcile because the beginning balance is wrong.

When I categorize a transaction as a credit card payment if duplicates the transaction as an expense and a credit card payment when I reconcile. I’m have to go back and clean up the duplicates. Not sure what I’m doing wrong and I’m sure I’ve messed up my books some how. I’d like to clean them up so I can start from scratch all over again. 😭

      Hi,
      Thanks for reaching out.
I'm sorry we're just now responding to your comment!
Based on your question, what I think you're asking is why we use the expense feature it's because it wasn't paid with a check in this example, it was paid online.

Don't understand where the $1,000 beginning balance came from on the credit card. This is a new company and the credit card was used for the first time.

    • @CandusKampfer
      @CandusKampfer  Год назад

In this example, it came from the beginning balance on the statement.
If you don't have a beginning balance you wouldn't add anything. You'd start by entering your charges.
