Just watched it. thank you. Your positive energy is uplifting! Reconciling is off by the amount of interest or fees paid. But balance in the ledger is correct. I'll work it out. A request: A quick vid on how to start and transfer to a new checking or CC file to clean up past learning curve errors. Write a check from the old (pre Jan 1) to the new (post Jan1) file? Your husband seems to be a contractor. Will you be doing any vids on Estimating? Job costing/items? Assemblies? Change orders? T+M billing? HomeTech integration? Or do you think QB is not really up to the task and I should put the learning curve energy elsewhere? Thanks so much, Spencer
Hi Spencer, I'm glad you enjoy my training style. I will add your requests to my list :) Yes, I think QB is up for it. My perspective is to keep QB as simple as possible while getting the detail you need. Candus

We have never reconciled or tracked credit card payments in QB desktop. My manager says since we pay the credit card and enter it in the register, I need not do it again separately. Please advice.

Please help! Your video was very helpful for credit cards. My question is regarding the accounts payable account. I didn't know that I could skip the 2 step bill process!! Thanks for the insight. I have a number of transactions still showing in accounts payable. Will those be cleared out once I get caught up on reconciling my checking account? How do I check to make sure I did not duplicate those transactions? I am learning a lot from your videos, and still have questions to get everything caught up and cleaned up. Is this the best way to ask questions? Are there other options, too? Thanks so much!!

@@CandusKampfer Thank you. I thought that is what one would want to do, so when you do the check run (write checks), it will come up in bill payment. I have another question. If you have an invoice and you enter it in bills to pay (say it is 90 terms, then cc). How can you pay it (via cc) and show the invoice is paid?
@@CandusKampfer Actually, one more question with respect to this video. If you use the "bill" method, wouldn't you enter the "new charges" as the bill? That way, the full amount of the bill would be there even if you paid partial? If the new charges on the bill is $700 (say JAN 2020) and you enter the bill for $700, but then during bill payment, you still have $500 balance on the bill (JAN), yes?
If you are talking about a cc balance and you want to reconcile only enter the amount you paid. If you mean a normal bill you’d enter the full amount and pay the part you paid.

Thank you Candus, this has been very helpful since I use to enter CC charges on a bill. However, I entered all the charges like you said (I am starting from scractch so had to enter 3 months of charges) then I paid each statement. But when I went to reconcile and marked all transactions, it shows all three payments made as well but if I select them, then it shows a balance. If I don't select them, it shows zero so I did that and left the "credits" unmarked and from there it expected me to go pay the CC again! So now what? I am confused. HELP!

Hi Spencer,
I'm glad you enjoy my training style.
I will add your requests to my list :)
Yes, I think QB is up for it. My perspective is to keep QB as simple as possible while getting the detail you need.

Thank you for helping so very much!

Hi Candus,

Do you have to reconcile your credit card before I can pay my credit card? I pay my CC twice a month to keep the balance down and I seem to be missing how to just be able to apply multiply payments to the CC account without screwing it up! Can you please help me with doing this properly? THank you.

After entering all the cc charges, you say if you choose “enter bill” it changes to an A/P. Are you saying all the expense info disappears?
It moves the credit card balance from credit card liability to Account Payable. It doesn’t change the expenses.
Use the pay bills feature and pick payment type as credit card @TheRedPlll
If you are talking about a cc balance and you want to reconcile only enter the amount you paid. If you mean a normal bill you’d enter the full amount and pay the part you paid.
Hello, for a long time I've been entering credit card transactions incorrectly. I've now paid off the card but not sure how to "clean up" the entries. What is the best way to do that.

HELP!
