I highly recommend EVERYBODY who travels to Tokyo to take one morning and trek out to the area right as the sun rises. The shrine area when empty is so tranquil and the sun rise in that specific area hits the rest of Tokyo so beautifully.
Brandania yay! So jealous you are there now! Sorry I missed this live stream! UFO Bob told me about it! Asakusa, we really enjoy this place and will be staying there again this summer! I didnʻt know about that Starbuck there! Thatʻs the Don Quijote we always buy our luggage at! That place with the largest onigiri we always pass by there and look but never get anything lol! We always pass that pancake place but never go there. Austin always feels bad for the fugu in that tank. Thanks for taking us around the exact areas we go too, we will be there in June! Mahalo! 🤙☺
Hi! John san! I was there in Asakusa around 11am or so today 🥰 I've just started to work as a tour guide recently, I learn a lot from your content because you always express so detail and make things lively, I'm a big fan of yours. がんばって下さいね!
Just got back from Japan and had a great time! I stayed by Chiba Station, which away from the hordes of tourists. I've often stay there in the past because all my friends live in that area. I stayed in Asakusa for the past 2 years, starting right when Japan re-opened for tourism after you-know-what. I love Asakusa, but also enjoy staying where most tourists aren't.
Thanx for showing this gain. I have only been twice to Asakusa. Both times stayed at Ueno. so not far away .So back when i was there you could exchange Japanese yen for local Asakusa currency. I saved them as a souvenir. eating at Asakusa was a bit more expensive compared to most places in Tokyo.SkyTree was there yet. so quite a long time ago.
We just missed you, John!😢 We were the stunningly beautiful Asakusa for three days! We just left this morning. We’re on the Shinkansen as I type this!!
The time of day that I went to Asakusa in March 2019, it was so packed lol. I think it was in the afternoon when I went and it was like a sea of people lol. I didn't mind it as I live in a place where it's much more quiet so it was fun. Just a little CC John, but it would be nice if you streamed more outside of Tokyo as you stay in the city a lot. I know you have a wife and son but it would be awesome to have some more variety, maybe show us more nature without many buildings in sight? That would be cool.
Went there to get some agemanju last year. I'm not a manjuu fan, but that stuff was good enough to get me to actually like it. Not a fan of red bean paste, but the variety of flavors definitely made it easy to enjoy. Matcha flavored one was superb.
The longer you are in Japan, the more you like anko (red beans) 🫘 love the subtle sweetness now, but it took like 15 years before I appreciated it hahaha! Def an aquired taste.
Hi John. Glad I was able to catch some of this livestream before it ended. How is Brandi holding up? She's been on the go-go-go ever since she arrived. Lol. Wish I could have been there to hang out with you two. I had a few of those strawberry filled mochi and it was sooo delicious. Maybe Brandi could bring some home for me. Haha.
@onlyinjapanGO She showed me her itinerary and it was mind blowing that she had so many interesting places she wanted to see and do. Totally true explorer mode!
Kind of off topic, but I’m amazed that the Starbucks actually had opened seats 😂. But yea, Asakusa was quite crowded last year. I went there super early in the morning because of jet lag and I thought I was missing out on something because it was super empty and all the shops were closed. But after visiting again at a normal hour, I think it was better with less people, especially for photography.
OH! I am so sad, I could have seen you while I was walking my dog. I've seen you in Ginza before. Asakusa has been crazy lately. Have you shot from the tourist information building. It has great views day or night!
Can’t say - it’s not something I look for since I don’t have to eat halal but usually places will clearly mark it as tourism expands here which is a good advancement.
AM walks are really nice before (after) breakfast at the hotel or searching for breakie out there. It’s a completely different vibe as the day changes from hour to hour! At 5pm, it really shifts as stores close, tours leave.
We were there in Dec. 2022. We arrived late night and walked the area then it was pretty nice. We went back the next day and experienced with the crowds. Enjoyed both times.
Very sad there is a giganto Starbucks sign in the midst of the Asakusa historic district. I don't remember that last year when I was there. Bought a lot of stuff there last year, but only from local shops on the main Nakamise Dori and the little alleys off it. I needed sunglasses badly, my wife said no shops will have them since Japanese don't use them in April. But the last shop on the south end had 3 pairs in stock! ...I bought one for like 500 yen. They turned out to be the best sunglasses I ever bought. Stayed at Asakusa View Hotel for a night, and was in the Don Quiote at midnight to pick up some supplies. Great memories. Great to see Brandania again.
Just wondering... Is that kosher to be filming people inside a Starbucks?... Its not really a public space... It's a private business. I would have assumed they didn't allow streamers in. Is that normal, Japan now?
@@ejbalshan I think that's a general truism for private people.... tbh, I don't know that's true for professional you-tubers who make money off of streaming live... in this case, it's more a passing through. However, Japan's acceptance of foreign streamers has changed a lot, and for me personally, I think it's a bit weird to go to a private space and stream where other people are just doing their own 'private' thing. Just me...perhaps.
I like walking around in the evening when the shops are closed. It gives me a chance to admire the artwork on the metal doors.
Good walk around. Nice to see it before it opens. Not crowded. Thanks.

Missed the live stream but I could tell by the smile on Brandania’s face looked like it was a fun day. Hope you had a blast maybe see you soon too.
She went to Shibamata, now the rain is starting to fall so the end of the day is near. Fun morning!

Great video 🎉 I’m thinking of going there sometime this week

Thanks John for the Asakusa walk. Love your Barbie hair color Brandi. The tower was called Ryounkaku.
Ryounkaku!! ✅ ^_^ we had a wonderful AM, no rain yet.

As a dutch guy i have to say, tulips bloom from march till mid-may. they are not out a little late. they are in mid-season right now :)
Yes I agree, Hotels outside Shinjuku and Shibuya are cheaper and good , Nice tip thanks 👍😊
We just missed you, John!😢 We were the stunningly beautiful Asakusa for three days! We just left this morning. We’re on the Shinkansen as I type this!!
Yes I have been there and yes lots of people!!
Maybe I’ll stay up really late one of these days just to catch you live. We have caffeine!

We were there in September and saw Kevin Mccarthy visit. Lovely place

I lived in Kurumae, just a short walk away. I used to hit up that Denny's all the time.
Welcome Brandania. I hope you enjoyed the pancakes and meetup with John. Thanks for taking us along. ❤

She’s exhibiting no jet lag, pure energy - only took the wrong train a couple of time 😂 but finding places I never knew about, pure explorer mode.
@onlyinjapanGO She showed me her itinerary and it was mind blowing that she had so many interesting places she wanted to see and do. Totally true explorer mode!

9:15? LOL. When I was in Tokyo I stayed about a couple blocks from Sensoji and I was usually up and around the city by 5:30am.
I’d almost prefer to go there at night. When it’s all closed but it’s all light up. Really nice looking.
OH! I am so sad, I could have seen you while I was walking my dog. I've seen you in Ginza before. Asakusa has been crazy lately. Have you shot from the tourist information building. It has great views day or night!
I was here right before the tourist swarm. I also might be moving to iwakuni japan
Melon Pan with whipped cream is one of my favorite food in Japan😋
John do you actually read people’s comments???
Yup
he lets AI do the job!
I was there day before yesterday. Very busy
Thank you for this interesting videos. Could you also film some of Ameyoko cho for us thank you.
Nice place to stay couple of nights. Night time is quiet & totally different.
hey nice view in japan.. thanks for sharing. 1 question: did u know is the Melonpan Halal ?
Can’t say - it’s not something I look for since I don’t have to eat halal but usually places will clearly mark it as tourism expands here which is a good advancement.
Damn. 7 times to Japan and missed you every time. Lol😅
What!? That’s like batting 0.00. Have to get a hit in the 8th inning!
Staying in Asakusa soon....maaaybe we'll get up at like 7am and come see sensoji....and at night instead.
AM walks are really nice before (after) breakfast at the hotel or searching for breakie out there. It’s a completely different vibe as the day changes from hour to hour! At 5pm, it really shifts as stores close, tours leave.
@@onlyinjapanGO yep! The hotel we grabbed has a nice buffet. No need for swimming through the crowd lol
The hotel at 18:30 is the Richmond Hotel. Why it sports the APA Hotel colors is a mystery.
I caught that when we walked back after the stream 😆 strange colors, very APA like.
amazing video wow it's beautiful
9:35 Skytree is 634m tall. Mu-Sa-Shi. That's why the restaurant is named Musashi. Not after me. :(
We were there in Dec. 2022. We arrived late night and walked the area then it was pretty nice. We went back the next day and experienced with the crowds. Enjoyed both times.
I want to live in Kyoto for at least 6 months. Hopefully I won't have to deal with the tourists that much when I get my stuff together and go there.
Why Kyoto? 🤔 very curious - It’s the last place I’d want to live in this amazing country so maybe there’s something I’m missing?
Oh sh.., I'm in Asakusa right now and I've seen it too late, that you're streaming from here. I would have liked to met you... 🤦🏻♂️
😖 darn

Great to see Brandania again.
That Starbucks has been there for at least 4 years now.
Hi John I missed your live stream it’s hard too tell when you’re live streaming I did watch the video have a great time there
It’s fun when you can catch it, today was earlier than usual.
Just wondering... Is that kosher to be filming people inside a Starbucks?... Its not really a public space... It's a private business. I would have assumed they didn't allow streamers in. Is that normal, Japan now?
Generally speaking if you're not videoing specific people I think you'd be fine. Just panning around the interior wouldn't be an issue imo
