  • Yi said “Mama” around 4-5 times total, off and on, before losing his speech and regressing at 14 months old.
    Please understand this Video is not literally “Before Autism”, as Autism was always there. But the Portrayal of Autism that Yi Shows Today, came later. #Autismfamily #Parenting #Speech

    Adorable. My Jimi doesn't say a word. When he was around 5, he began saying hi and bye for a couple of months. Those were the last and only words he spoke. He is now 14. My eldest Michael is 17 and he mimics. My youngest Wyatt is 13, was nonverbal until he was 9. One day he realized that he could use Google search to find his favourite toys and ask me for them. He hasn't stopped since. 😊. You never know when or what may spark progress and achievements.

    I really love the attitude you have about your son and his autism. I’ve never had the feeling I was mourning a future that my son could have had because I’ve known his future wasn’t mine to plan since before he was born.
    It was a relief when our suspicions were confirmed and we could finally understand how to help him thrive.
    My son’s speech didn’t pick back up until he was 3.5. At 7 he very much sounds like someone who’s speaking English as a second language, but he’s smart enough to improvise when he’s trying to make himself understood.

    Let me unpack this first and foremost guys; Yi Was Autistic From Conception. “Before Autism” means Before He Regressed into his Severe Delays And Symptoms that he now Portrays today. I DO believe that more Parents & People should become aware of this common phenomenon, for many reasons, but definitely to Not go into this Blindly. This is real. We see families that adopt babies or young toddlers that are on track developmentally, have no signs, and then everything changes. They realize that they were not ready for that life and unfortunately the child is Displaced.
    We can help prevent things like this by educating parents that Autism and Disabilities are not as cut and dry as either having a disability or not having one at Birth.
    Also, the rude comments toward parents about it “being impossible for a child to just up and become autistic, y’all must have done something to them” or shoving conspiracy theories into Parents face has got to stop guys.
    This is a known phenomenon. It is being studied and has been studied for years. Professionals know about it well. Please do your research.
    But do not shame parents, accuse them of abuse and neglect, because of something that you yourself don’t understand. Be a decent Human Being People. I know that most people strive for that.

    So hard when they start off developmentally Norma and they diverge to this new normal. My son did something very similar. He had a few words which stopped suddenly. Then at the age of 3 he began babble again and then repeated words at four till five he did a huge catch up. But if you look into his type of autism this is characteristic of it. My son is a beautiful PDA boy. Yi is perfect the way God made him. He also gave him a special, kind and unique mummy. Autistic kids thrive when they are allowed to be who they are and he will surprise you every day 💕🌈

    He will probably spontaneously start talking again when more mature. I did. Consider how the brain changes from birth to 21 years of years, it changes, evolves, & becomes formed at that age. Yes, it is common & it is hardwork for you. I still struggle & I had long periods when life was better, then problems begin. The brain is us, but alien too. Stay safe.

    Did he get a vaccine around this time? And had an allergic reaction?

    • @louderthanwordsInclusivity
      @louderthanwordsInclusivity  3 года назад +3

      no allergic reaction. he did get the vaccine at normal age, but you have to remember that children with Autism regress between 1 and 2.5; the time where vaccines are also being given. So it can give that appearance.
      However, we have a genetic abnormality causing our Autism

      That what I was thinking. Because my son use to try talking all the time at maybe few months old. 6-10 months old. But after the second round of shots he started speaking less and less. Now he just hums and doesn’t say a word…. He’s 2 now.:(

    I am new to your channel thanks for this video. Sweet boy you have. My son also went through a regression around 25 months. To be honest I think my son went through a few regressions. My son is 2.5 now and there’s a lot he did at 24 months he can’t do now. He does aba part time now. How is your son doing now? How old is he?

    • @louderthanwordsInclusivity
      @louderthanwordsInclusivity  4 года назад

      Yi is 3 years old now! and he is doing very well! he is still non verbal, but is definitely starting to interact with the world around him in ways he never did before, and is starting to get the basics of non verbal communication!
      He always had delays, but ever since his regression he seemed stuck in time with little to no progress for over a year, and literally right at 3 years old with 2+ years of therapy he began making improvements!
      I am glad to hear y’all are getting support with therapy, it is so nerve wracking waiting and not knowing, but just keep pushing forward and he will get those skills back over time❤️
      I hope to hear updates in the future!
