No chance the average bike shop cares to use a sonic cleaner, or even bothers to strip components for a proper wash. Dare I mention an entire array of lubricants and anti seize applied meticulously with needle point syringe? No chance!
Every bike with a little bit of love can look amazing! Thank you for another video! Changing houses, that’s the only reason I am so late with the comment 😅!
Since I started watching your videos around a month ago I've decided bike restoration is my new hobby! I'm now on my second full rebuild. Completed a Cannondale Quick, now about to start a Claud Butler Roubaix...loving the learning.
Good idea for the new owner to get a proper Bikespeeds service before heading out on the road. This bike will ride as new for many miles. Thanks for another wonderful video guys.
Wow, one word sums up your bike Services and that is integrity! I have watched every video you have made over the last while and even bought an ultra sonic cleaner. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. Now I'm quing up 11 bikes 9 of which cost less than the cleaner.
Go go go! 🎵🎶 I'm glad I'm not the only one who got persuaded by the idea of owning an ultrasonic cleaner 😆. They really work wonders for the drivetrain components.
I have that same model of bike. God help you the day it needs new headset bearings! The brake hoses pass through the centre of the bearings so you have to open up the brake hydraulics to get the bearings off. Unfortunately, the hydraulic nut will not pass through the holes in the handlebars so you have to cut the olives off to remove the nuts. Whilst it's an aerodynamic joy to ride, it's a bike I only ride in the dry to minimise my chances of ever needing to replace the headset! It's also a bike for very smooth tarmac. It's unbelievably stiff and very punishing on rough surfaces. A bit like riding a steel girder!! But it's like a missile for top end speed.
Catching up on some missed videos, great work here on this premium bike, the polishing & ceramic spray you do is a cut above the already very high standards you set.
B screw adjustment makes a world of a difference! Good catch, I’m sure it’s an everyday thing for you but someone struggling with setting a rear derailleur for their first time could benefit from this catch.
As a keen cyclist of over 60 years and owner of 10 quality bikes, your videos show the difference between your level of SERVICE and the rest. Also as an aside surprised you do not wear hand protection as you are in contact with various chemicals and lubricants.
Wow, what a cool bike! Would love to take that out for a spin. Great job on the service. I’m sure this is riding like a brand new bike now. Job well done 👍
I agree with you, dry lube can cause so many problems, I have tried it for some time and the after effects don't warrent the benefits. lovely bike I bet the owner has a very big smile.
@@emorhcelgoog Yes have tried lots of different types and measured the chain wear after 1000 miles and the best one so far has been cheap 3 in 1 oil. it's easy to clean off and re-apply, plus you don't need much, I put a drop on each roller, leave it for an hour or so then give a quick wipe to remove excess.
Such good service and video quality. The whole of your work is very humbling. If you open up a merchandise store (and deliver to EU) I'll make sure to snatch something up. I feel guilty that these videos are here for free! As always, thanks Simon and Lee. 🚲
Thanks Carlos we really do appreciate it. We’re currently working on a website to hopefully get something back from the RUclips for ourselves so merchandise is definitely on the way!🧡⚙️
@@Bikespeeds just to give an update. I've tried sanding my pads and brake rotors with 100 grit and man it did wonders. Feels like brand new after bedding in. Thats one thing I've learned from your videos
Enjoyed the video, as always. Interesting comments about dry lube. I use it because it doesn't pick up dirt as quickly. I thoroughly degrease/clean my drive train monthly so haven't had a problem but I'm going to check closer to see if residual dry lube is building up.
Great video, learned a lot. I own the exact same model and I love everything about this bike but the spacers on the handle bar that keep breaking. Do you have an idea of whether or not it is possible to swap out the handle bar and stem and use the ones on the new 2023 propel models?
We couldn’t tell you. There’s so many varieties on sizes in bikes it’s down to specifics so without the bike in front of us we can’t help you. Thanks for watching!🧡⚙️
Rotation of the tires must’ve been tough, those tubeless GP5000 fit snug! Would love to know how those brake pad retention screws were stripped like that.
I've just come across your channel and I love it, so satisfying to watch! One question that you've probably already been asked is - For those who don't have an ultrasonic cleaner, what's the best method to deep clean components? I have degreaser but not enough to soak stuff in so would washing up liquid or similar do the same job?
Washing up liquid and a spray degreaser works. If you have the patience a few months from now we’ll be listing the products we use on a website for you all to purchase but any degreaser spray will definitely help if you need it now🧡
love those videos, I learn a lot of good practices just from watching, thanks a lot! a couple of quick questions, 1- do you also use degreaser for dry lube? my understanding is that these are wax-based, rather than oil based, so is the traditional degreaser the right tool for the job? 2- how do you wash these micro-fibre clothes? just in a washing machine? thanks again!
We used oil on the dry lube to make it easier to work off. And towels we usually just throw away as we go through so many. Thanks for watching and glad you enjoy the videos!🧡
I love your videos because you explain every step you are taking. I have onely one question, Do you check te BB bearings? don't they need to be service with new grease like other components of a bike?
@@Bikespeeds TY, I usually service the grease every 6 months because I usually sweat a lot and during winter I do my weekdays workout on a indoor trainer. For that reason I was curious about that part of the maintenance.

It depends on the bike but as much as we go to town on these bikes there are some places we have to draw the line on work we do for the price of the service 🧡

RIP your hands surely? No gloves to reduce the constant grease/degreaser impact on your skin? Day in day out do you struggle with dry skin because of this? Any tips?
This bike was really easy to assemble ruclips.net/user/postUgkxMesz3KOGEmwmvyKQfLfrRSUXLFzfVHZA and required very few adjustments out of the box. The wheels did not require any truing/adjustments. The frame had some small scratches, but nothing major.I did replace the seat though - the seat it came with was very uncomfortable. The tires need to be re-inflated every 4-5 days, but this appears to be quite common for the narrow 700x25 tires.Overall, in my opinion, this bike looks and rides like a much more expensive bike.
We honestly don’t get many in. They’re not super popular in our area but when we get one in and have the slot to film it we’ll definitely bring it to the channel⚙️
If I would know a shop doing their job as great as you, I would actually give my bike to a service instead of doing everything on my own. But the prices the shops here ask for makes buying the tools cheaper and they dont do what you do. Last time i asked shops if they service pedeals also: take them apart, clean and relube them and den adjust the preload on the bearings. Nope, they sey no time for that only swap axles of pedals and for bearings in general they dont even have loose bearing balls to renew any bearings on any bike
I wished I lived near this chap.
These videos make me sad knowing none of the bike shops I've used have ever cared for my bikes as meticulously and professionally as you all do.
I know right! My heart kind of sank when he said he made sure he lined up the logos with the valves. Riders in his area are lucky to have him!
No chance the average bike shop cares to use a sonic cleaner, or even bothers to strip components for a proper wash. Dare I mention an entire array of lubricants and anti seize applied meticulously with needle point syringe? No chance!
