The argument among Malaysians after roti canai was named as the number one bread is which roti canai is better. Is is the roti canai made by Indians or roti canai made by Malay. Personally I prefer roti canai made by Malay. It tastes differently than the ones made by Indians or mamak. Try it and note the difference.
As a malaysian (my own opinion) this particular restaurant's roti canai looked abit overdone - crispy. At least the first one your husband tried. It should be abit softer and moist. Try it at other stalls as diff stalls roti taste different. Then only you can appreciate the taste.
@@voyagesdiary Malay Roti Canai are usually much softer and more 'buttery' whereas the mamak ones are usually more firm with a bit of heft in them. I personally prefer the malay ones but thats just based on personal preference. Ask the locals around where you could find the best ones Im sure they would gladly and happily help you out with recommendations!
There are two kind of roti canai. 1) Mamak roti canai 2) Malay roti canai. They are slightly different Exspecially the gravy. Mamak restaurant located in the city. Malay restaurant or warung located at outskirt of the city or in rural area.
That make it no 1 roti because of it taste, fluffy inside & crunchy outside. The one that your husband ate looks a bit tough. The ingredients are the same, the way to prepare the roti will give it different texture. I don't know why you all go to wrong ramly burger & roti canai restaurant 😢 Be safe & wish you all happy holiday 😊🎉 Enjoy your stay.
We went to roti valentine because taste atlas said that it was the best place in the world to eat roti canai. www.tasteatlas.com/roti-canai/wheretoeat Maybe they are wrong at nominating roti cani the best bread in the world and recommending the best place in the world where to eat it??? 🤔 Only following the "experts" opinion
You guys should visit Genting Highlands, your kids will love it and spend a day at the outdoor theme park (if budget allows). You'll feel better with cooler weather (thin jacket layer required) and food is still good but a little more costly. If you like birds, KL Bird Park is the largest free flight Aviary in the world located at the heart of Kuala Lumpur City area, weird that nature's located at the center of Kuala Lumpur City. You'll practically be walking with some birds feets away but don't get too close though. (Check weather forecast before going, the rain could spoil your visit there)
we have a genting highlands video coming up soon. it was such a large place that we are still editing it hahaha. never heard of the bird park. Thank you very much for the tip

Next time u should come in the morning to try regular roti canai (round in shape) if u come on usual time they will make u square roti canai which taste bad because regular roti canai maker need to leave it for 5 mins for it to rest to flatten it,which he doesn't want u to wait, if u come in the morning they have prepared it for customers to come eat. U should try roti telur (egg) too.
if u in penang i will bring u to the place which serve the best roti canai in town and i gonna show u how to eat em the proper way as well … with that swallow so u know why it is voted the best bread in the world ..
the thing is, there are to many roti canai version out that. The one you got probably the shop that make crispy one. Which is good for people prefer crunchy roti canai. But the thing is most people prefer fluffy roti canai. And most roti canai is fluffy. And you really need to eat to your preference type of roti canai to find it to your liking. Most of malaysian cooking is not like western cooking. Western cooking usually prefer the exact recipe. So the taste profile will be almost the same. So when we called it pizza, it should taste like pizza. But in malaysia even pizza has been change to malaysian profile taste to the point it completely changed the "original" taste of pizza. And when most malaysia taste "original" pizza taste most of them doesnt really like it. Because they have taste to much variety of pizza that suit their taste. There is no right or wrong, it is just what the type of people prefer to. Italian people usually prefer original taste of pizza, while malaysia people wanted something more spicy, more strong taste. Almost every food around the world that not malaysian food. Will be change the taste profile to suit malaysian taste.
If you like crispy then go for the roti tissue..roti canai...the best bread in the world...should be round, crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside... You can ask for roti telur...roti bswang...,roti sardine...roti majerin.. Roti telur bswang .... And if soft type go for tosai..then
Due to ingredients getting more pricy. So roti canai dough getting smaller and thus the crispy roti canai that you ate Go round and find the ori fluffy roti canai with dhall curry. The gravy should not taste sweet. Thats what we call BEST roti canai.....
To me as a malaysian, the roti canai should not be tht crispy. It should be soft and not crispy. U guys should have tried at other Mamak Restaurants too
Fyi..we who lives in kuala lumpur dont find valentine roti is the best roti canai coz its so thin and crispy.. The only reason those days people loves valentine roti after they got back from partying and during got drunk. roti canai is actually a bit thicker and softer and not crunchy like eating papers. I suggest if u want to try the actual roti canai..first u try at any mamak restaurant and then u go ask aroun to find roti canai made by malay..u can feel different
Honestly that restaurant poor and not the best mamak restaurant i can see., next time try find the best restaurant in list only to try for!!! That restaurant seems going to bankrupt 😂😂🤣
That was not the best restaurant of Roti Canai.. that's ordinary Mamak Restaurant.. U have to ask local people where was the best Roti Canai ever been made.. especially in kampung area made by Malay people.. u can feel the authenticity of what is Roti Canai actually..
Im malaysian and the best roti canai I've ever tasted was in georgetown penang 🥰 it's a hidden gem, its not crispy like yours here, its thick and fluffy roti. This shop looks not good tbh, even the preparation is not promising, you chose the wrong shop unfortunately 🥲🥲

The first one you had is not the normal roti canai. It's roti canai crispy with sugar.
sounds like this place should change it's menu as they don't seem to get anything right
Canai in Malay means to knead, to spead the dough
learn something new everyday
canai = flatten, or make something thin

I eat it two or three times a month ..

Flaky outside, soft inside
This stall is not belting out the original roti canai.....it should be rounded.....
It’s the same ingredients just different shape. If you want crispy(garing) you should go for rectangle one. If you want fluff you go for round one.

Taste for the roti canai and its gravvy/sauce are different for each restaurant. Some are very delicious and some are bland.
