I love following ppl who travel with kids👌. We travel from Canada for 3m every yr with our 3 kids. We loved KL, Langkawi, Koh Lipe, + Lombok last yr. This yr, looking fwd to showing them Penang, Bangkok + Hua Hin.
New Lane is a place for tourists and hence the prices are a bit higher. The food is not bad though, so not a bad choice. My preference would be to go to Carnarvon Street for dinner, although it is a bit more narrow and busy. In the mornings till afternoon, you can try Cecil Street Market which has pretty good local streetfood at maybe 20-30% lower prices!
It's quite impressive that your family members managed to consume a variety of 🇲🇾 food with non stop & yet be able to keep your body fit & in shape at the same time.. never give up with your search & hunger for 🇲🇾 food 😁
Try New World Park food court, Batu Ferringhi SAF Street Pasta, Nasi Kandar Deens Maju, Hameediyah, or Batu Lanchang Nasi Tomato, also not forgetting Banana Leaf Rice at Passion or Kerala….too many to name…😀
I went to these stalls at Penang at beginning of October. CHONG Charcoal Seafood Char Kuey Teow (Fried flat rice noodles), 888 Hokkien Mee (Prawn Mee), Ali Nasi Lemak Daun Pisang (Banana Leaf), Restoran Ramzan (Nasi Kandar or Briyani with Duck Curry. Duck Curry is rare). Its no hype. They are delicious. Unfortunately, my time is short. Many more restaurants for me to explore. Looking at Penang Famous Samosa, Auntie Gaik Lean's Old School (Peranakan / Nyonya cuisine. Probably pricey), Hameed Pata Mee Sotong, Air Itam Asam Laksa on my next trip.
@@voyagesdiary Yeah, they have some great restaurants all over the state. Even on mainland Penang. It will take a while. Enjoy the food while you are still there!
Maam I suggest you go to Kelantan, for me Malay foods and desserts is the best in Kelantan. It is different from Chinese and Indian cuisines that you guys probably never seen or eaten before.
10:17 - Uncle Rodger? Oh that guy, did you get to try his resturant, I hear it might be good... though some say its bad, I personally wanna check it out... do you guys think it might be worth it? 🤔
Chee cheong fun or cheong fun translate to english… “intestinal noodles “ but of course there is no intestinal in it..😅 its because of it shape that looks like intestinal.if you travel to Singapore Hong Kong you will find this same sounding food.
Generally Penang street food is a unique culture and heritage of people. Those hawker foods are connected with each other family heritage of ancestors. The new hawker if their foods qualify and taste could not matches to the local population. They can't survive long in the business.
Food is generally better in KL compared to anywhere else. In Penang or anywhere else, the bad ones can still survive. Since there are many more choices available in KL and because of that, if their food is no good in KL they will already go out of business.
@@voyagesdiary Everywhere has a good place to eat. Its the matter of whether people would spend time looking for it or not. I wouldn't writeoff any place without actually trying it first. Penang is up there for me. Coming from someone living in KL.
I agree, KL is way more competitive, so the good ones will survive. In Penang, even the not so good ones will stay. I won’t go as far as saying Penang is overrated, but KL definitely offers more options, variety and quality.
Food in KL better than Penang? KL people normally drove down to Penang for its food and non from others states will travel to KL for its food. Are you even a Malaysia? 😂
Penang has changed so much. Once gurney drive was the pinnacle of street food, then, a tourist trap of sorts hehe, it's been a long time since I roamed the streets of Penang, hope gurney drv lives up to it's old glory

Hope you have fully recovered from your surgery and in excellent shape for your culinary adventures.

Thank you for the tips
Pls try Kelantanese cuisine too!
Yeah i'd say pad-thai is sweeter taste, the char kuey teoh is more savoury touched ! Adding a little bit of spiciness is the KICKs for the tastebuds 😋

A great place to eat is Viva Food Haven in Tanjung Tokon. Penang is not only Georgetown…

@@cac1504 Chinese food nothing but noodles 😂
There are a lot more food in penang than you think. Example prawn noodles, asam laksa, nasi kandar, malay food, nyonya food.

Previously, maybe, but now with the inflated tourist prices, NO!😅😂
As a local Penangite, I have to say Penang food is NOT worth the hype. 100% overrated.
I'm from outside Penang, went to Penang recently and I think very overrated as well. My fav is KL, Kelantan, Ipoh foods. So which city foods u like?
Agree and I live in Penang. KL has much better food choices these days. Penang food needs to evolve.
Do you know what was the heaviest meal you had there in this video? It was the one tonne (wonton) mee. 😁😂
We hope you liked our food choices
Welcome to Malaysia gays 👏👏👍
i live in malaysia but the food in penang is good but i haven,t try it but theres also malay chinese and malay indians btw u should go to marrybrown
marrybrown the chicken fast food restaurant?

The only good ones in Penang are the original ones passed on from generations. Otherwise, do not believe it even if they say the place is 'famous'.
I guess a lot of new restaurants are moving to KL due to more possibly of making money
Correct. Tbf there are a few good ones that are special in Penang.
Come to East Coast states of Kelantan & Terengganu...the real FOOD HEAVEN 🔥
Oops you stained your white blouse. Tips : do not eat noodles or savoury stuff like curry when you wear a white dress or blouse.

interesting... 90% of the people we spoke to in Malaysia told us Penang is food Heaven compared to KL

Both have their pros and cons, KL have food that Penang dont have, and vice versa. One thing you realise Penang dont allow foreign cook but KL does…😀
