As a novice grafter, this was the video I have been looking for! Thank you, Chris.
During the 1950s I used rubber bands to bud tens of thousands of hybrid tea roses each summer. I found that the rubber bands were the best to use for budding.
I really didn’t know about rubbers, I’m too young I guess. I’ll also consider them too.
I have used PVC/ plumbers tape before for grafting and had success
die-eggo camaney I was just about to ask that as have some on hand. Thank you.
me too had success , always wondering it was ok.
Do you mean pfte tape?
More than just a products review video, you also gave some awesome pro tips...many thanks!
Enjoyed the information on each type of tape and situations to use each type.
Thanks, interesting and useful!
I use Buddy Tape for grafting figs, for reliability - stationery rubber.
I've been grafting for a while and I think that wrapping the union is an essential part. Need to get it tight enough
Thanks for information 🙂🙂
I've just thought of iron-on hem tape... which is stretchy then finish it off with PVC tape or anyone that you have mentioned
Thank you well presented
Regards,
Harry from Oz
Thanks!
Nice lesson
Thank you Chris.
Glad it was helpful
great info. and video.
Thank you so so much.
This year I’m going to give electrical cable shrink wrap a go just to see how well it holds a graft in place 👍🏼🇬🇬
How did it go?
Thanks Madam,I am from Tamilnadu India.
Wonderful.from kerala ,india
Where can I buy the grafting tape you mentioned? Please let me know!
There are links in the description
Very useful video. At least for me. I want to ask you one thing if you have any free time of course.. ..If you use a grafting tape for sealing an injured bud(part bitten off by a cat) of a rooted cutting (mulberry), can u do it right away over the bud or is it more advisable to cut the bud clean off and rely on the two lower buds? Can you help me with an advice?
Its a stressed cutting from earlier overwatering before it had its roots, so i'm hesitant on what to do, thats why i wanted to ask you. If it will help for info - i keep them under plastic bottles, in a heated room (68-75 Fahrenheit), sprayed with clonex every 3,4 days, with sunshine during the day, but not direct sunlight.
😾
@@greatergood3706 You got lost?
Does buddy tape need to be removed after once grafted parts get successful?
No. It degrades in sunlight, so it's definitely a time saver in many ways.
I like to cut bike inner tubes for grafting rubber
Excellent!
I love new uses for stuff that's normally discarded. (assuming they're busted tubes)
I assume you remove them after the graft has healed as it seems that it would take a long time for that rubber to degrade in sunlight.
Truly Tropical yeah damaged used tubes, that’s my favorite part they last for 2 years or more in direct sunlight, we can use them many times. I also use them for tools, fruit pickers etc. Awesome farm tool.
Excellent
Hello, My Father works with Grafting avocados and is in the search for the rubber strips, where can we find them? thank you for the help!
Can electrical and duck tape be used for grafting?
both electrical and duct tape are vast majority solvent-based adhesive, graft wouldn't like it much BUT you can just turn it around, adhere it to itself. You could use something else to protect the graft first, but then you may as well go for a solution that doesn't require additional wrappings. I've used teflon (plumber's) tape in a pinch to repair a split in a sapling, but I changed it out as soon as the repair had taken enough, didn't like it.
When using electrical tape, I only use white to maintain cooler temperatures. It also fails to properly degrade in sunlight and needs to be cut after 3 weeks. I've also used masking tape, but it lacks elasticity, once again, solar degradation is inconsistent.
I’ve had good success with electrical tape but it’s tough on the graft when you remove it and tends to rip off bark. I’ve had about the same success rate using flagging tape and latex paint, with less damage.
Can you not use micro zip ties? Seems like these would work much better
Thank u sir
How about a regular scoth tape. I used it many times.
Do they work?
Madem please tell me can I use putty or salicon intested of grafting wax
Hi were can I buy the matte tape you had mentioned.
What do you called rose budding wrapping tape..
Can you please specify the sizes for the Buddy Tape and rubber most commonly used. Thank you.
buddy tape... 25mmx60mm
elastic strips .. use lots of sizes but often 5 inch x 1/4 inch
You should put affiliate links to the products in your video description to cash in on your videos more!!
Chris where can you tell me where to get buddy tape. Thanks
Would masking tape work for grafting ?
Masking tape is quite rigid, unless the graft is particularly straight, I wouldn't recommend it.
What about using cable ties/ zip ties to create a really close union especially when using more mature rooting stocks?
👍👍

that chin strap though. did you graft that hat to your head?
Surgically implanted... the latest fad...
Truly Tropical ha ha ha. Perfect response. I can't stop laughing
that comment made my day
Under what specific name I could find the elastic rubber strips?
just buy rubber bands and cut them
Rubber budding strips seal in moisture well and won't restrict growth. No tools needed to apply or remove (the one we offer biodegrades after 2-3 weeks.) Turn to Aero Rubber if we can help! www.aerorubber.com
