Old video but also priceless. Thank you, because of YOUR video I have successfully grafted many trees.
🌹🌹🌿🏵️🌻
I was able to grow a locacaca fruit!
This is the video that got me started in grafting. Excellent for beginners!
This has been the clearest presentation I have watched throughout all others although I also understood what they tried to show. Thanks very much indeed.
Thanks for a very clear showing of how to do grafting . Can't wait to see if it has worked. Lee UK
Thanks a ton! I had to transplant a few fruit trees last spring for my mom, one didn't make it, now I can replace it without having to buy one and wait insanely longer!
Thanks for the video. I never knew grafting was such a simple procedure. I have a volunteer hybrid tree sprouted from a mix of Burkett and Stewart that resulted in a rounded nut slightly smaller than the Burkett, but with a hard thicker shell that is very resistant to case borers. I have wanted to propagate the tree and your video gives me a viable solution.
This is Good Idea .!!! We thank all those who contributed to this creativity. !
thanks for the tutorial brother this helped me in my botany exam
5:57 I love when key points dont matter! Love that phrase
Now this is a tree surgeon in every sense of the word.
thanks so much. I am just learning about grafting.....mother nature is spectacular!
I today just realized that the Pear tree i bought was grafted. Its a funny story really not too long after i bought it maybe 5 years ago i accidentally dropped a bench on it which caused it to split i was gutted but i got some tape and wrapped it round the cut and hoped for the best and luckily it made it through and somehow healed. that trauma caused the pear tree to off branch close to the bottom of the stem and make a new stem which today i realized after staring at the pear tree that the other stem of the tree was flowering completely different to the other stem which was already in bloom while the newer stem is just about to bloom, on closer inspection they are both differently coloured one is brown and the other more grey. I am pretty chuffed that i now have two pear trees in one growing and look forward to when it finally starts producing fruit and seeing what it makes.
I just pruned back lower apple branches before the buds come in. I'll remember to stick my scions in the fridge when they get here, making a 5-in-1 apple tree out of an overgrown 20 year mac. Video was helpful, I only just started grafting.
i know this is late, but I’m starting to do botany and tree related things, so thanks for this video man.
Thank you my buddy has some really nice apple trees in his little orchard ,I'm going to try and grafht some of his trees to some crab apple trees around my pasture feilds I've heard it will work ,I will find out here soon as the rains quit
good vid. very relaxing just how gardening should be
Thanks Patrick-
We were grafting a couple of American persimmon selections onto American persimmon rootstock. Once these grafts take and bud out we'll post a follow up vid on how to care for them. Dudley
What is the purpose of grafting a persimmon to another persimmon unless the fruit on one particular tree may produce more or taste better?
+Larry342516 one rootsrock may have better desease resistance or is able handle different soils better
swn02 Or handle a different climate. Which is a trick used to grow rose varieties in Florida that do not tolerate heat well.
Good question, possibly to ensure the tree you get is a female (and not a male) thus yielding fruit? That's my best guess
NativNurseries is it possible to graft a fruit tree to say a oak rootstock?
thanks again, second watch to give me confidence to get out there today and graft persimmons.
Hey, great video, packed full of useful tips, I did the same technique on pomegranate tree, and it took off like crazy
Did you use different specie variety? How did the tree do for you?
Amazing teacher, thank you for sharing your knowledge.
Can you graft fruit on any tree? Do fruit trees generally work better with fruit stock or does it really not matter?
Hi, While i was watching your video i found that i also became very peaceful. Must be that is what you emanate all the time.
I'd love to see the final tree
Good clear zooming guide , Thank you very much
My dumb ass brother decided to cut one of the fruit trees in my backyard that's been there for 30 years that my grandma planted. I remember learning this In agriculture class, but forgot how to specifically do it, so I'm gonna graft some of it back on, and at least save it. It's just a long stump rn so perfect for grafting I guess.
Put the stump in a large pot and turn it into a bonsai!
Undim I’d whooped he’s ass lol
how'd it turn out?
How's the tree?
Wheres the tree??
Thanks man ur doing just great very simple and clear , god bless ya
Awesome video. Thanks so much.
Amazing! You make it very simple. Thank you!
Možda najbolji način kalemljenja pod koru.,,👍
😇 Clear and Concise 😇
Thank you for Teaching.
i dont know what you did but i like you thing you do with that tree! 😂😂😝
thanks for an easy explanation .It made grafting easy for me
excellent video, i didnt know it was that easy, might graft some pieces of this apple tree
Thank you so much!
show us a tree 6 months later
Yup, i would definitely want to see this tree now..

How this tree do now? Can you take a video?
@nativnursuries please update!
Thanks for the tutorial! My new Rokakaka is about to be lit!
Excellent - thank you, Dudley.
Very clear! I think I can do this. Thanks!
Very good..I am going to try it...
Hi great video thankyou! Can i ask how long before you remove the tape? just throwing this out there but would vaseline be good as a water sealant? or maybe pine resin glue?thanks shaz
Cool. Thank you for the video.
Thank you. Nice instructive video.
I like this guy☺. His explanation is simple, direct and easy to follow 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽🙂.
i've been trying to propigate cuttings from my peach tree for a long time now with no success. maybe grafting is a better choice! Thank you for posting this.
thank you very much Dudley. is there any video after 3-6months?
This thing? What tree are you using to graft Too. Very important detail left out.
Wow amazing, love the way u do it. I will try it thanks . Have you done a follow up video on your results ???
"I'm going to experiment with this caulk" hehehe.
@Finn Gannon why would you hack your friend's account???
@@चेतन_महाराष्ट्र it's a bot
@Gatlin Jesse it's a bot! Ur prob also bot
Hehehe ^^ ass-phalt.
That's what she said
This guy is a legend.
How is this tree doing now or any of the other grafted tree's you've done?
im sorry im not questioning how u do things or saying your wrong, I just really want to understand the whys of everything. great video by the way thank you.
Nice job Dudley! what's the tree your grafting from/to ?
Wonderful video. Thank you.
Great video! 👍Got right to the point.
Cool video. How important is it that the rootstock and graft are from a similar plant family? Can I use guns out the back in the reserve to graft fruit onto??
That is so amazing and easy to do that Thanks.
Plumpers puddy is a great substitute for weatherproofing
Good demonstration
which one is best season for this type of grafting
I love grafting 👋
Gonna try this on my bonsai saplin hopefully making it fluffier
i would really like to see the tree now
That a good video. Funny too.
A very nice video
Thanks you help me a lot.
In grafting stems of two different plants are joined to produce a new plant. One part is called stock and other part is called scion. Both are obliquely cut and placed over each other and tired with a tape. Part of stock remain rooted but scion is seperated from mother plant. After a month both plants unite each other and new plant develops from the scion. Stock provides water and minerals from the soil to the developing plant
Enjoyed your work very much. What are the names of the root stock and your two grafts? Are the two grafts from the same tree? Thanks
Great work. When in the Spring is the latest one can graft in central North Carolina? If successful how long till you have fruit? Thanks
thank. very informatif....best
Would it be possible to use grafting methods to Dwarf-ify a full grown adult fruit bearing tree?
Like, every place where there is a lot of length in-between important transitions or fruiting portions you cut out that length and graft it back together as to shorten the entire structure?
THANK YOU VERY MUCH
So does this work for repairing bushes that have dead limbs on one side? Could I just cut the bad limps out and splice new ones in their place and hopefully it could recover?
Thank you so much for posting... I've been trying different methods with no success and this one looks so much efficient... I will try it. You used dormant stock, can I just take it off one tree and graft the same day?
+Michele Sadler Hey Michele! With some species you can, but i prefer to use dormant scions (collected late winter) on an active growing rootstock (mid spring to early summer)
I thought so ... and I'm hoping the apple trees are still dormant... some other trees like the poplar trees are starting to bud. I am getting my apple tree clippings today. I guess I am concerned about doing this the same day or waiting a couple weeks until the leaves to really start their growth, any suggestions? And.... thank you for your note : )
Is this the same process for a lemon tree. I have a beauty of a tree and I'm moving house. I'd love to graft it on to another so I can bring to my new place
Thank you. I am in a Master Gardener Program and I didn't fully understand the terms used nor did I have a clear picture in my mind. I am planning on grafting some Japanese Maples to some Mapple rootstock. Not to sure about when the bark is slipping though. Most of the buds here are about 3wks from opening.
simply done , thanx .whats the best time of the year for grafting ? also can u use bee wax insted of woodglue ?!
Thanks for sharing your knowledge.......
Great video.
great video
will grafted tree grows shorter? due to i am planting a grafted mango and avocado trees ,and i wanted them to grow tall for shade in my place as well.
Why do you have to cut the tree off? You cant cut and graft to the side of the tree? What if its a mature tree you want to graft another variety to?
Thanks for the vudeo!
Can I graft oak trees to non oaks? I don’t have any oaks on my property. I have planted several that are not producing yet. But I have other mature tree species, can I graft oaks on to the mature trees to get oaks quicker?
If there's two saplings (abt 6months old) growing beside each other, Is it possible to graft them together side by side?
thank you , great video
got a question, I live in central Florida, no freezing here, will this method work if the scions aren't frozen???.......the info on the internet seems like they assume everyone in the world lives where it's super cold......
thank so much
Can we do it in any type of tree
that's nice music who or what is it?
Very interesting. Can you graft any tree onto any other?
I have a pear fruit tree that did not make it thru winter and came back from root. I am being told it will not fruit unless I graft it. I would like to keep the tree - can I graft it onto itself? Would that cause it to produce fruit? Or should I obtain a scion of grafted pear tree?
i need ur advice, i've grafted my 20 year old mango tree in the mid of February 2016 though it is a 20 year old tree but it didn't produce the fruit at all, 20 days have past and the scion has started getting dry like a dead wood, it seems scion's moisture is drying day by day... So is it clearly the indication that the scion didn't join with toot stock or should i wait more to open up the plastic tape?? In grafting root stock should be more greener, soft and juicy?? Actually the root stock in which i fixed the scion was a woody bark from outside, and i had to applied a lot of pressure in making a deep cut into it...plz help
Waiting for your favorable reply dear... ☺️😊
+Rahul Pandey I'd love to help but honestly lack experience with tropical type plants. It sounds to me like the graft isn't taking. In tropical environments, there isn't really a winter where the scions are dormant, so you are essentially grafting a non dormant scion that could be much more "fragile." If using a bark graft technique, it would probably be best (in this scenarion) to not remove the rootstock top growth until the scion has taken.
Rahul Pandey this is hilarious
What month are the coils collected?
What month is the grafting done?
Dose it matter the species of the root stock? Dose it have to match the species being graphed?
So I want to grow pistachios but I want only one tree can I grow male and female on one tree thanks
Excellent! I don't see how I can goof this up, I am going to try a few different grafts and I will come back in a few months to report.
Did it work? Haha
Great video, very easy to understand. Is there any circumstance that you would leave more than one scion on the root stock? Like if the root stock trunk is a larger diameter.
Can i graft any fruit scion to any pine tree trunk??
Does the root stock tree need to be of the same type (fruit tree to fruit tree)? Or can you add scions of an apple tree to the root stock of, say, an oak tree?? Thanks in advance.
What type was that tree that you grafted the scions onto? Didnt hear that get mentioned.
If you haven't found a replacement for your wood glue that you love, the clay/putty used on bonsai trees might work well
