This is a new and exciting world for me. I love growing my own food and never knew of this awesome technique of grafting. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience! Good luck and happy days!
Its quite addictive when you get the hang of it. Grafting allows us to change our fruit tree varieties to better adapt them to our needs and local growing conditions.
Very informative. One of the most informative videos on grafting that I have seen In awhile. I look forward to your upcoming videos. It is a beautiful thing that you are willing to share your extensive knowledge with us. Se agradece mucho!
I am excited to try this technique, but I didn't realise how accurate you had to be..At least with you sharing such great information & great detail will hopefully help me succeed better, obviously practice makes perfect.. It took me along time to root rosemary, now I'm rooting a lot more, when I first started I couldn't get it to root, isn't it strange??.. Thankyou for sharing this wealth of knowledge with the world & working to make this video for us,really appreciate it..Have a good day & take care ✌🏻☮️🪴🦋✌🏻☮️🪴🦋
very educational for me...i am practicing to graft fruit trees like durian avocados etc.i hope that this time it will succeed after watching your videos..ty
Knowing correct grafting techniques are very important for everyone to know for good preservation of our trees. So thank you very much. Happy harvests always and God bless.
Unbelievable explanation, and video coverage, by far the most informative video I've seen on grafting and the various methods. "liked" and "subscribed"
Very good video and thanks for the tips for good grafting, mine was 20% successfully because of extreme weather especially heat, moisture and unknown fungus attacking the new graft.....
Hi mate, I love watching your videos. You mentioned that the aluminum foil is to be removed after a couple of weeks. I have covered my graftings with plastic bag and on top of this with a paper bag. When do I remove these? I want to thank you in advance. God bless.
I usually check my grafts after 2 or 3 weeks depending on fruit type and conditions. The bag must be removed as soon as you see signs of green growth on the scion or the new leaves won't be able to use the sunlight and the graft will fail.
Thank you so much for this videos . i just found you , and altho i have a very littel garden i hope to grow 3 fruit trees , and you'r videos are helping me see i can do this . Thank you very much .
More to come! But they do take a lot of time and work to make, so I can't be as prolific as some other RUclips channels out there. Thanks for the comment and the support.
Hi, the stems of my one year old plum t-bud grafts have a green and brown mottled colouring like in your scion wood at 5:52 in this video, is this normal please?
Great video once again. You are the King of grafting as far as I am concerned. I use your techniques all of the time and it works.
This is my third year grafting, by far my worst. I did both top work and bench grafts... I think a had at least 1 big problem with each batch. I have been trying to propagate cider apple trees I’ve found in my neighborhood over the years... it’s hard to get nice diameter scion wood from these old trees...many of my graft failures were from very small 1 year old wood I collected from them...I realized I should ask my neighbors if I can prune a couple limbs on each of these old unkempt trees to encourage vigorous new grow for scions for next year... I also made problems for myself buying some of my rootstock from a nurseryman who sold me less than vigorous rootstocks...good rootstock was sold out early this year. My top graft problems I think were a result of very weak grating tape I used... on top grafting day one I had a product like Parafilm but 1” wide and much stronger after stretching around the graft, those grafts are much more successful ..but on day 2, I only had the 1 1/2” Parafilm to wrap my grafts...these were good size scions from trees in my orchard that reliably make fruit...... about 1 hour after I finished my grafts I noticed the Parafilm had split and cracked... the grafts were fully exposed to the air...my inexperience was clearly on display as I grabbed my can of Pruning sealer and slathered it over the exposed grafts...bad move...I think that material contaminated the grafts and killed them...I tried to compensate that same day by rewrapping the grafts using Parafilm but not stretching it as tight and thin...those some 30 grafts on 3 trees had a 90% failure rate...in 2019 on those same trees using the scions from the same varieties I had 90% success... so I guess beginners’ luck aided me in 2019 and my arrogance and lack of experience thwarted me this year... Do you have any thoughts about cracking and splitting Parafilm ? Any thoughts about encouraging good scion development on very old abandoned orchards that have desirable varieties ? Thanks for your videos and presentations on these topics Ken Davis Middlesex, Vermont
I really enjoyed your video on grafting, yes I do grafting myself, but I haven't had a lot of success. I know now why in some instances why techniques on grafting haven't worked. Thank you a
JSacadura , thank you so much for your videos, they have helped me so much with my fig tree hobby! One suggestion about a new video, I would really appreciate if you make a video about the progression of the grafts showing how it heals and develops . I have seen mostly all your videos and seen a little bit of the progress of your grafts. Im really curious to see how the cleft graft or modified cleft graft looks after 1 year or 2 or 3 ? Once again Thank You for what you do!
Hi, Elvis. With each new video on grafting I really try to show the evolution of grafts covered in previous videos. Precisely to give viewers an opportunity to see how the tissues heal. in fig trees, I have modified cleft grafts with 3 years where the graft union is almost impossible to see. They heal that good. Same diameter cleft graft also heal quite well (not so nicely). I really don't like to use cleft graft in rootstocks of higher diameter, compared to the scions, because the healing is not has good and I truly avoid the double cleft graft (the one that leaves a space in the middle of the rootstock, between the 2 scions). It creates a dead zone that is quite difficult to heal and can cause problems in the future. I will include a few older modified clefts in future videos.
Thanks Jamie for your excellent grafting videos; I will be attempting to graft White Madeira scions to Desert King rootstocks this coming spring as a first time novice so your videos are most helpful
Hi, many thanks for your very informative videos! You're the grafting boss! 👌😃 Is it possible in your opinion storing citrus scions in the fridge or would they die? (For example when I collect them in February and graft them later in April?)
storing them in the fridge can damage them. Once you harvest the scion you want to wrap them in a damp paper towel and keep them in a plastic bag in a cool spot (not in the sun) and use them within 2-6 days
I love your videos and have successfully done afew grafts , could you please put a list of the products you use so we know whatthe best products are x many thanks x

@@JSacadura I did a persimmon tree bark Graft and it turn out great 👍.
Excellent video as usual. The details about cambium are so precious. I learnt that the hard way.
Cambium contact is one of the main reasons for graft failure and some people don't realize it. That's why I placed it first in the video.
