  • This pit bull was stranded on a cliff in the freezing cold in Paterson, NJ, for over 24 hours, but Jersey Pits Rescue came to save him. He was so timid and shut down at first, but after a few weeks he started to warm up to his rescuer. He got adopted by the best family who had another pittie. But the other pittie soon got sick with cancer and passed away, and Benny ending up saving his parents with his quirky personality and sensitive nature. He came at just the right time 💛

      Yay for you Eye Candy!! We have 3 rescue cats and they are pure love ❤ One adopted as a kitten from the Utah Humane Society and two years later a pair of littermate brother kittens from a local rescue CAWS. They were buy one get one free at the adoption event and it was the best decision to get a pair. We can't imagine life without them. They bring us so much joy, love and laughs with their silliness. By adopting instead of shopping you not only are part of saving a life but you help make space in shelters and rescues for them to save another life. It's an amazing feeling and thing to be a part of. Every snuggle with your new "baby" you will be glad you adopted and will never regret it. God bless you!!

    I adopted a dog that looks just like just like this white pittie. Mine has a black eye patch. I walked him everyday at the shelter for probably six months. Shelter staff asked me daily when I was going to take MY dog home. I told them I live in an apartment and it wouldn't work. I did take him home on weekends so he could hang out with me and get away from the shelter. We did these "break away" sessions weekly. Funny thing he never gave me kisses at the shelter. I finally adopted him and the first night in my bed he laid on the other pillow staring directly at me from two feet away. He placed his paw on my head that night in bed and was petting my head. The next day I got my first kissy. Now they come from all directions. Pitbulls may be the greatest dogs on the planet. Mine is a therapy dog. I learned that over the next three months. When I got mad at watching the news and yelled boom he was right there to comfort me. When I was sad boom he was right there next to me. It is incredible how smart dogs are and how pathetic many humans treat them. "For you are such a true friend I will spell my name backwards and shall call you dog." God

    My dog had cancer and at 16 and a half years old we had to help him make the journey across the rainbow bridge and I swear to all that is holy two years to the date we put him to sleep a tiny grey cat came walking up my driveway and sat on my lap like “um, I know you don’t know me but I was sent here by your puppy to help protect you and help you through this rough time.” Needless to say that was 3 years ago and I’m writing this as my cat Shadow is sleeping right beside me 😁 She got that name because she is exactly that, my shadow lol. She even blessed me with a kitten named Hazel who is so my like my old dog it isn’t even funny. She even speaks and gives me paw. I truly believe certain animals are sent to us from above or some higher power that knows we’re in need of something that a human can’t give us.

      pit bulls are the sweetest breed ever if properly taken care of

    • @underworldbean3942
      @underworldbean3942 3 года назад +3

      I wouldn’t say underrated, Pitbull-type dogs are by far the most popular "strong breed" dogs in the U.S. - more popular than German Shepherds, Boxers, Rottweilers, Doberman Pinschers, Great Danes, Huskies, Mastiffs, and many other strong breeds. In fact, breed population data shows that pitbull-type dogs (and the many pitbull-type mixes) are the 3rd most popular dog type adopted from shelters and the 5th most popular dog type registered by veterinarians. Therefore, we estimate that pitbull-type dogs and their many mixes account for 20% of dogs in the U.S. based on recent shelter and veterinary population data (provided below). While the American Pit Bull Terrier (APBT) is a distinct breed, the broader label of "pitbull" is not a breed but instead a generic term used to loosely describe a type (or category) of dog based only on its physical appearance resembling any medium-sized dog with physical characteristics from any of the numerous "bully-type" (or bulldog-type) breeds. Accordingly, our 20% pitbull-type population estimate includes the 4+ unique breeds commonly assigned to the broad "pitbull-type" category, a large number and variety of pitbull-type mixes, and other breeds and mixes that can be labeled as "pitbulls" due to their appearance.
      SHELTER DATA
      ASPCA shelter data reveals that pitbull-type dogs are the most popular dog type by intake and the third most popular dog type by adoption counts. For population estimates, shelter intake data is a more accurate and more robust measure of breed population sizes (vs. adoption data) because it includes all dogs - not just the dogs that have been adopted. The only other strong breed in the top 5 rankings of the ASPCA intake and adoption data are German Shepherds and compared to German Shepherds, the pitbull-type population is 3.6x higher by intake counts and 2.5x higher by adoption counts. The shelter data is further validated by veterinary data which confirms that pitbull-type dogs are the 5th most popular dog type in the U.S. and also the only "strong breed" dog type in the top 5 list of the most popular breeds.
      20% POPULATION ESTIMATE
      There are an estimated 90 million dogs in the U.S. and while there are no conclusive population counts by breed, we estimate that 20% (18 million) can be classified as "pitbull-type" dogs and their mixes:
      • According to AKC breed registration data, German Shepherds account for 6.3% of the U.S. dog population.
      • If German Shepherds account for 6.3% of the dog population and the ASPCA data shows that the pitbull-type population is 3.6x higher (by intake), then we estimate the pitbull-type population to be around 20% (6.3% x 3.6 = 22.7%) of the U.S. dog population.
      • If estimating the pitbull-type population by shelter adoption data (which is a less robust count compared to intake data), the pitbull-type population would be around 15% (6.3% x 2.5 = 15.8%).
      AKC/UKC registration data (which is commonly used to estimate breed populations) typically only includes purebred dogs and a recent peer-reviewed study concluded that the vast majority (98%) of pitbull-type dogs are in fact mixed breed dogs. Therefore, because the majority of pitbull-type dogs are not purebred, shelter and veterinary data is a more accurate representation of their total population size (vs. AKC/UKC registration data) because it includes purebred dogs, mixed breed dogs, and represents comprehensive dog population data from all across the country regardless of registrations or any breed-specific legislation.
      BREED REGISTRATION DATA
      When compared to other breeds commonly considered as "strong breeds", pitbull-type dogs are by far the most popular strong breed dogs at around 20% of the total U.S. dog population. According to AKC registration data, the population estimates for the next most popular strong breeds (that account for at least 1% of the population) are:
      • German Shepherds: 6.3%
      • Boxers: 3.9%
      • Rottweilers: 2%
      • Doberman Pinschers: 1.6%
      • Great Danes: 1.3%
      • Huskies: 1.3%
      • Mastiffs: 1%
      • Other strong breeds: all less than 1%
      "AMERICA'S DOG"
      Contrary to misinformation promoted by special-interest organizations and tabloids, pitbull-type dogs are not "fringe" or unpopular dogs. Instead, they are exceedingly popular mainstream dogs providing companionship and happiness to millions of families which is not surprising given their excellent temperament scores and outstanding behavior. In fact, pitbull-type dogs have been popular in the U.S. since the early 1900s - they were prominently featured as national mascots on military recruitment posters during World Wars 1 and 2, they were mascots for sports teams and companies, they were featured in television shows and movies, and they were proudly considered "America's dog". Furthermore, their popularity alone is a leading reason why dog bans are a trend in decline and have been recently repealed in many cities and towns including in Denver, CO where voters repealed the city's 31-year-old ban against pitbull-type dogs by a landslide 66% majority. Therefore, we'd say that they are still "America's dog" today which is why it's really no surprise that BSL and dog bans are being frequently challenged and often repealed because after all, family is family

      If you think about it, humans influence dogs lives so easily that we can train them to protect us, or get stuff for us, or train them to do simple stuff, like sit or shake or even roll over. If we can teach a dog easily to do what we want... how hard could it be for someone to train a dog to attack? Or be aggressive? Look at police dogs, some are trained to attack people on command but those dogs are also trained to be well behaved as well. If someone wanted a guard dog they could easily train it to attack, but they don’t know how to train it to be behaved and drop a fight on command. Someone could train their dog to “protect” their home by antagonizing it and leaving it outside on a chain with little to no human interaction and no animal interaction. What if the dog gets out? You think it’s just going to go walk around and be a good dog? No. It’s going to attack anything in sight like it would do in its yard. But now it’s yard is the whole neighborhood.

She went up to dad, put her paw on his lap, dad petted her, she went into his bathroom and passed. When dad came out with eyes like he had been maced, we knew, and not a dry eye anywhere. • @miradics3988

      @RA HorusNo its literally the genetics in the Pitt bulls. This has been disputed since a decade.

    • @miradics3988
      @miradics3988 3 года назад +2

      @RA Horus Here just read this:
      The outdated debate, "It's the owner, not the breed," has caused the pit bull problem to grow into a 35-year old problem.1 Designed to protect pit bull breeders and owners, the slogan ignores the genetic history of the breed and blames these horrific maulings -- inflicted by the pit bull's genetic "hold and shake" bite style -- on environmental factors. While environment plays a role in a pit bull's behavior, it is genetics that leaves pit bull victims with permanent and disfiguring injuries.
      The pit bull's genetic traits are not in dispute. Many appellate courts agree that pit bulls pose a significant danger to society and can be regulated accordingly. Some of the genetic traits courts have identified include: unpredictability of aggression, tenacity ("gameness" the refusal to give up a fight), high pain tolerance and the pit bull's "hold and shake" bite style.2 According to forensic medical studies, similar injuries have only been found elsewhere on victims of shark attacks.3
      Purveyors of this myth also cannot account for the many instances in which pit bull owners and their family members are victimized by their pet dogs. From 2005 to 2019, pit bulls killed 346 Americans, about one citizen every 16 days. Of these deaths, 53% involved a family member and a household pit bull.4 Notably, in the first 8 months of 2011, nearly half of those killed by a pit bull was its owner. One victim was an "avid supporter" of BadRap, a recipient of Michael Vick's dogs.

One day, I was reading something about the stages of grief when I just began crying. My other dog, his older sister poked her head out from under her blanket, looked at me, and made her way over to me. She got right up and planted herself in my lap. She wined and then wrapped her arms around my waist, as if to say, “we will all get through this daddy!” Even though it never gets easier, the love my other dog showed me at that moment is what sticks with me. She still loves life at 16, and she is healthy! Thankfully!

All of them are truly angels on this earth. All out pets deserve forever homes. Cats and dogs are amazing. We might save them but they can save us.

    This right here makes me wonder why anyone would make Pitbulls fight each-other for their own monetary gain... They are such sweet dogs, when socialised correctly. My family owned a Pitbull cross for eleven years, and I will never forget her. Miss you, Tess. ❤

    • @miradics3988
      @miradics3988 3 года назад

      @@juliemackenzie1978 "you have stereotyped a whole breed" .... Yes Julie... thats how breeds work.... they do different things based on how they were bred. And to the bad owner myth, its just simply not true here:
      In one world, you are just repeating Pit bull propaganda, its nothing more.
