My wife and I recently were awakened by a young Pittie, that was going to be our first foster experience, just for a couple of weeks, to help a local shelter, until she could a permanent rescue could be found and arranged. We let the shelter select the dog that we were to foster, and we were a bit anxious when we saw that Donut, (she was found behind a local Dunkin Donuts), was a Pittie/mix. Determined to maintain our, "every animal deserves a chance" philosophy, we took Donut home and decided to give her the best temporary home, until she moved on to a rescue, or a forever home. This dog had so much love and appreciation in her heart, despite her past life challenges, that we failed our foster obligation and adopted Donut less than a month after bringing her home. Now we want to try to educate others like us, that MOST Pitties are sweet and loving dogs, and are NOT the horrible and viscous breed that so many believe them to be. Go to a local shelter or rescue and meet a few. I promise that you will be a believer!

@@pokemonitishere202 A tenant in my building had 2 Pit Bulls. They were the sweetest dogs. One was a street rescue. He knows how to raise dogs. The rescue came pretty rambunctious. One thing many people don't seem to understand is the Pit Bulls are terriers (not terrors). Terriers are high energy dogs (remember Eddy on "Frasier"?). When you have them you have to be know what you're doing. To put it simply, Pit bulls become violent, aggressive and mean through a lack of training, abuse, neglect and irresponsible ownership and breeding as well as a lack of attention to health and temperament issues.
Bad breeding and bad owners lead to incidents that make national news because of the dog’s breed. These are strong, intelligent dogs and unfortunately, they end up in the hands of bad people far too often.

I've been watching your videos for a long while now and ever since I saw your first video I've fallen in love with this channel. Kate Pina yea. I like how a lot of posts I argue with people about pits...they always taking about how its naturally aggressive. How if it was alone in the streets, it would be a vicious killer as opposed to a lost lab. Basically they say a lab or any other dog would be like this, while a pit will naturally just be ready to charge and kill

    • @wi8233
      @wi8233 7 лет назад +2

Well pit bulls have killed the most humans out of any dog breed. I️ know this woman that was killed by her two pit bulls while walking them. Some pit bulls are naturally aggressive.

    • @agonleed3841
      @agonleed3841 7 лет назад +1

Wyatt Inge or that woman treated her pits the same as some people treat Chihuahuas. Allowing them to get into anything with no discipline. And when they can't get their way, they snap back. All spoiled dogs do that. But some are stronger than others. That's why it's the owner's fault. Have common sense to respect the power. But just because it's more powerful down at make it more mean. Or more aggressive.
You have to know what to train ALL dogs. And you should never betray their trust. Meaning to keep the training the same and consistent and in a way that has them understand that you aren't trying to hurt them. Do not allow tantrums. Do not allow snaps. Train them from a young age and learn their behaviors. And their reactions. Train them at home the way you want them to act in public. Train them to be in public and used to different smells, actions, movements. Learn what's a threat and what's not.
And that public training is the key. And also those pits who turn easily...its just as much as your fault as it is the owner. Because you, and people like you, act afraid and biased towards pits. So while labs, Chihuahuas, and many other dogs are taken out to pet parks, roaming the streets, hanging out a family houses and being pet all their lives. The pit is at home only around the owner NOT learning the social skills as the other pups because other people are treating even the me tion of a pit as a monster who shouldn't be around anything.
So those other pups grow to bigger dogs, older dogs, with the knowledge of what's a true threat and what's not. Who's friendly and who's not. And all the small cues that they've heard over the years that lets them know they're allowed to do something or not, as it pertains to humans. And the pits didn't get those lessons.
So, in some situations, the pit is trained exceptionally well to listen to the owner. But without the social cues of the surrounding humans. Plus ALL animals have a sense of feeling. They feel your intentions. Not interpret it as you do. So your fear? They feel it. But to them it isn't fear. It's anxiety. And that has a wide range of intention. Are you anxious to get away or are you anxious to attack? And THIS is the point where they ARE different than some dogs. They aren't pussies. If you're anxious to attack, they won't back down so easily. That doesn't make them aggressive. That makes them...not pussies lol.
Then there are some pits who are harshly trained by their owners. Because the owner likes or love them. And that means the owner fears that YOU will overreact. Thst YOU will cause their dogs to flip because they understand their animals and YOU don't. But the law doesn't go after YOU. They go after the dog and the owner. So the owner MAY be a bit too harsh when the pup NATURALLY as ALL dogs do, when they naturally bark at strangers. When they play they may get punished. It's good to teach the pit pup to calm down in the type of playing, but some owners fear for them so much thst they will borderline abuse the pup in hopes of preventing them from playing that way in the future. And having someone like YOU overreact. Which triggers their dog senses...like ALL dogs...which is why squeaky toys are popular.....but for a pit, it's power....and you have the dog put down.
And these little over reactions of the owner can lead a pit to not pick up on good cues. Instead, have them fear...even their own owner. And remember something about pits? They aren't pussies. So as they get older and learn their power, instead of putting it to use for good. They could finally get enough of their owner bullying them. But remember, it's the owner's non to create trust and show the pit thst it's not there to harm them. Which it most definitely did...harm them. Even loving abuse is abuse.
There are ways to train a pit. And it simple. Do it like any other dog. Young, good intentions and good training. Not abuse and not betray of trust. Keep them social. Those are special training tips for pits. Those are normal training tips for ALL dogs.
There's a reason thst pits were once known like a few other big dogs, as Nanny dogs. They CAN be trusted. They are loyal and they are great dogs. It's up to the owner's to guide which type of dog they want. A Labrador can be vicious. I live in an area of S.C. where a lot of people have dogs. The whole neighborhood. And most of them range from labs, Chihuahuas, Danes, chows. Only I and a couple others have pits or pit mix. And those other named dogs WILL bite. Wherea, my pit is trained on command and yet still have not done anything other than scare people away. Never attempted a full attack. The other dogs weren't so much as trained to attack as they were just allowed to find their own way in protec5ing the family they love.
ALL dogs are protective....for the most part. ALL dogs will become aggressive when they feel there is a challenge, unless they have been taught in some way, otherwise

I understand where you’re getting from but really, you have to accept the fact that Pit Bulls are a problem. For example, one nearly killed a baby and the family was taking care of it so nicely yet it still attacked anyway.

      ThePixelSharkGamer2000
Once again....not TRYING to insult you, but that's a simple minded way to look at that story. Especially if you know dogs. Not just pits. ALL dogs. Most videos you see on Facebook and RUclips and pictures you see in movies or in someone's home....of dogs around the child....those are posed. And everyone goes about their business. And dogs, NONE OF THEM should be trusted around a baby.
The dog has learned YOUR....YOU....YOUR...THE PARENTS' attitudes and ticks. And it has learned that it needs to obey you....YOU. And put of multiple people a dog will choose only one to be the leader. It's just how they are. They warm up to others cause they learned that social tick. But there is one in the household that can get the dog to do anything while others have to repeat constantly. And if everyone has to constantly repeat and chase, and force it to do something, that means NO ONE is in control. Which is already a fail.
The baby has bot established dominance nor earned any level of respect. No matter how much YOU love the dog and the dog listens to you...and probably...in that situation....the dog probably rarely was obedient. Just learned how far it could get away without being abused.
Anyhow...the baby isn't important to the dog. Holds no value in the hierarchy which dogs live in. In fact, to a dog, the baby is a constant nuisance. Cries, cries, and cries. And the feeling in the air at times when the parents are frustrated. Remember, dogs don't interpret the feelings like you. They just feel. So this thing that causes so much noise and stress is RIGHT NEXT TO IT.
AND it kinda sounds like those toys he plays with. The ones he's allowed to rip open and swallow the squeaker. But right now he's really not in the mood. And he's allowed to be in whatever mood he wants and act or react however he wants because the "loving parents" have raised it to be the baby as well. Forgetting it is a dog with power so it's attitudes need to be checked.
There may not be reports, but there have been cases where a Chihuahua bit a baby's face. A lab dragging and violently shaking a baby. Great Danes. And any other dogs. There are reports. But there are also people who won't file a report because the baby didn't die and they were part of the family, so they get to learn to NEXT time not leave a fucking dog around unattended with a baby. Or to only bring human sociable dogs around. Dogs that aren't running their household.
That goes for toddlers as well. No animals love having their tails repeatedly pulled by some energetic ball that never seems to run out of energy. Or eyes poked. Or squeezed by multiple hugs.
You can't believe that a well behaved dog just so happened to snap with no reason. Wouldn't it be more believable to think that the owner's are so unaware of how they train their pup? That people in general are so infatuated by fluffy furry pups and cute poses in pictures that they forget that dogs don't live by the same rules and mindset and they should never be trusted around a helpless baby? That there was in fact a reason, little to us, but a broken rule for the dog that was trained that they are able to react any way they want because they're just warm happy little babies?
BUT the owner's are in shock. They don't think that way. A lot of people don't think thst way. They don't think of how they train a dog or what lack of training can do. Or how the wrong training or the right training and the wrong location can affect lives.
Nope. They just say the first thing that comes to mind when in shock. "I don't know. We were just sitting there. And it snapped."
And that's what gets written down in a report. And other people see [Dog] attacks BABY!!!! And go into simple minded rage. They blame the dog. Dog is evil because a baby isn't. But forget that the dog had an owner.
A dogs mind, is different from a human. They think on a different way in life. But if compared to humans, their mind won't reach more than a 3rd grade level. There are actual adults that reach that level and stop as well. Basically, the mindset of a loving individual. But the strength of a grown man. Do you blame the retarded man for the death of a child? Or do you blame the ones who were responsible for teaching them to control their tantrums? And knowing they haven't done a well enough job, they still left him unsupervised near another helpless child?

Where I live, we have only one animal shelter.
Dogs come in everyday, thanks to nasty previous owners, insensitive drivers who hit and run, sickness etc.
We have an overpopulation and that is forcing us to rescue only dogs who are in dire emergency, and need immediate medical attention.
I wish we could do more but majority of people want pure bred pups not mixed adults. So getting people to adopt is hard 😐
We wish we could do more.

Jerusha Jose: Hello! You can do more, if you can begin to identify volunteers who could take a dog or two into their homes temporarily. We call that "foster care".
This how a lot of small US rescue groups operate, including the groups that work with Hope for Paws. It's one way to operate a rescue with no kennel space at all, or just expand the capabilities of a shelter.
The volunteers need to be carefully screened. A sample application form can be found on the New York Bully Crew website.
Different rescue groups have different policies... some cover all expenses, some share expenses with the fosters. The group must be able to accept the dog back, if for any reason the foster needs a break.
Yes, the need is great, but start small and you can gradually build a solid network of reliable volunteers.

We rescued a 4 year old female pitmix in March. I would rather take in an older dog from a shelter. I wouldn't hesitate to do it again. This dog is exceptional, a five star girl, full of personality, love and funny antics. I am in awe of her every single day. We all are. She has rescued each of us in our family in the individual ways we needed her to. Truly a gift from heaven above.
