My family hold some old style fighting arts (nothing public, nor recorded), it is kept as a family history thing :) imo, this form of hand conditioning in very base from a history perspective (low level). Not what was practiced in the past by Martial 'classes' in China (fyi - scarring, was culturally frowned upon). Ironically, hitting bags was just a maintenance method. Real 'old styles', had another method of conditioning (that didn't scar or inflate the hand). One that is not handed down publicly (for good reason). However, hitting bags is what the public was taught. And it certainly works (given enough time, patience). While conditioning of the hand is one thing. Another thing is trickery (unfired bricks, petrol soaked bricks, structurally weakened stones etc). This goes back to street performers in China (not your 'higher level' martial artists, per se). The metal bending can be done various ways (including annealing the metal first). The pipe crushing is another trick, without giving it away watch 0:17 onwards. The Trick, is in the hand holding the 'pipe'. And notice the pipe flattens (a number of times) BEFORE the mans hand actually strikes it. Another thing to notice is the wooden board at 1:22 (look towards the bottom of the wooden board) when the man strikes it with the nail, notice how the board 'bends' ..like it is made of rubber (or something similar). There are other things, but I'll leave it at that. I'm not saying its all illegitimate, but it is all just a 'show/street performance'. ..and, always was :) imho - this is often a CCP vision of telegraphing 'manly' propaganda. As for the best 'old style' Chinese Martial artists. I think, they all mostly live in Taiwan and elsewhere (and have, for quite some time). Peace
If it is a 'trick', you can replicate it. Can you ? The pain is not a 'trick'. I understand that hard styles are crude and frowned upon as not true arts, but give credit where it is due. There is still pain, endurance, and training involved. Illusionists and magicians are tricksters too, yet we appreciate their training and dedication.
So what is that line in the center of the bricks? If you don't know don't answer. It looks very suspicious to me. If it's soft it means there is only 2 thin layers of brick to break through
You think rocks have two thin layers like manmade bricks too ? Are you stupid, or deliberately blind ? You cannot see the thick calluses on their hands ? Move along, kid... This level of commitment is beyond your imagination.
