This is excellent true training. It reminds me a book I read Kung Fu Scholar Methods that taught about hitting trees with the open hand to develop Iron Palm. Thank you Sir for putting this video on here for others to see.
I am impressed by Your extraordinary ability to detailedly inform the student of all dangers and mistakes that Tree Training may bring to a beginner. Such demonstrations are, in my opinion, extremely important for those who tend to be inspired by action, without having enough patience to achieve remarkable results in a specific field. With great respect, Strength Artist Erlend Lõwi from Estonia.
I really enjoyed this video. It made me miss pine trees. You actually made this training look at though it felt good. The way you concluded your video was perfect. That pun was flawlessly delivered.
Thank you, very much for this excellent and highly informative and practical video. I have been sharing it with my friends and clients. I did your routine twice so far, and I was amazed at how strong my hands gotten; just two sessions!
I have watched a lot of video on Iron palm this is the best one and the reason is, you don't always have the fancy 15 dollar bag to use but trees are every were. If civilization was to break down and men went back to less tech. Then having this type of training would be key to training warrior class of people.
Shawn Scorpion The idea of not having bags even in a post apocalypse is silly lol. A zip lock bag with rice, beans, or if you have to sand (not preferable, since it clumps up and turns hard like rock). Wrap that thing in duct tape and you have yourself an iron palm bag.
I have tried the phone book too. It's ok but not as good as using sand. And believe me the Iron balls are really the best way to do it. The Iron balls absorb the shock way better than any other way. It's worth the expense in the long run.
Thank you very much. That is a good way to be training for who is wanting to learn Martial Art. Who ever can be creative the ways they wanted to train themselves. That is fine and good too. Hopefully, I love to learn more on your channel
Good God Love every minute of this video. You sure go into complete details and completely very knowledgeable. Thank you so much for sharing your wisdom.
Love the video very well done ,I got a chuckle how at the end take this tree training and maybe "Spruce" it up a little 😃 nice little pun in there, and trust me I "willow"..
In the Tao De Jing, there is a verse "care about others approval, and you will be their prisoner" I learnt that a while ago, thats why my neighbour already thinks I am nuts, and it feels great to not care haha
Good training. Just takes years of conditioning. And start out slow. After years of practicing this you will be able to hit things very hard with no damage or pain. Important to focus ( the mind ) with each hit. The only one I am not too confident with is the back hand, now that would hurt unless your hands are very well conditioned. Very easy to break the small bones in the back of your hand unless you know what your doing. I stick to the shuto chop and the palm slaps. Also like the palm slap followed by the rake ( or tiger claw strike ) it's good to rip off some tree bark with that one.
iron bone techniques do not require any special material just correct form and patience it takes time to build up the strength of your bones for beginners you could use your fists and palms a plank of wood anything actually it doesnt matter so i thank this man for posting this video it does help teach people
22re red, there was a Chinese guy who used to use a metal plate to strike, he would use it regularly, even while watching television, every dude he hit went down easily.
Im so glad i found this! it saves me from having to go out and get steal shot! Thank you Master Fedorko. Also i will work on my humility Iron Body technique can only be mastered after the the mind and heart are tamed.
DamienSijo Sanders here. Good tree Gung video. I killed the tree in my mothers front yard with this kung back when I was a teen. Of course the stars and knives had something to do with it as well . It was great meeting you at our Spring Camp.
DaleLeonardVideo, Thank you very much for the immensely helpful instructions. I have two questions though? Should you train your thenars in case you unintentionally hit with them while making a palm strike? And if yes, how should you train them? Thank you very much in advance for taking the time to answer my questions.
Looks easy but try it... most people will bruise just after doing 2 or 3 good slaps and then have to wait a couple of days before trying again. It is a good idea to go really light if you are a beginner. Just snap your wrist into the moves and hit the tree just enough that it stings a little but doesn't bruise. As the skin, bones get stronger you can hit with more power like he does.
its not about getting "stronger"....this whole bs training is just making microfractures in the hand an have them heal over time...over....and over....and over, for years as the layers of bones heal over themselves....you end up with a fucked up hand that can hit harder...this tree crap is pure bullshit.
mrlobster1287 microfractures in knuckles, shin bones etc is extremely beneficial in martial arts. You're not fucking up your hand or whatever part you're conditioning. It's not scar tissue, bones don't work that way.
Ive been doing baji quan jibengong for 8 years with a tree.. not just my hand but the whole body. This is just to learn to be more relaxed. the more relax one can hit, the deeper the pain will go.
I will believe once I see the tree 4yrs later. Tiger claw is a painful training techniques. I would also incorporate shin ,knee and thigh development also.... Ive even seen head butt a....tree will always show how much passion youve put into it., thanks
He looks skilled an experienced, and I do think this training is legit, bone conditioning is a real thing, and you can work it on your hands, shins, knuckles, etc, and get them stronger just like muscles, but you have to be careful, obviously. In my own experience, I've used a bean bag made of canvas and filled with dry beans I ordered online, and have had a lot of success simply doing reps of different hits on that. I don't disagree with using a tree either, however I'll say overall that fist/palm/bone conditioning is what I would call a related skill to martial arts and self defense training, and shouldn't be the focus in my opinion. There are plenty of people who've never done this kind of training who can fight very effectively, since they spend most of their time on sparring, learning timing, application, and physical conditioning.
Agree, I did iron palm every day for 1.5 years and all I can say is I would not want to get hit with a fist like my fist was, that's it lol...I just recently got back into training
Great video. I practice tree training using various methods like in this video and a little different but there are some really helpful information that will add value to my own training. Thanks for the post
If you do it in public people low key think you're a crackhead but I always laugh at the people hitting the punching bag with gloves and the bag is barely moving but here I am punching a freaking tree and gonna have palms and fist like a freaking ball of iron
N R Feel the same way. I’m always training in the park in public and people must think I’m either nuts or dangerous. Lol I just focus on my training block everyone out as much as possible. I will be moving my training to about 5 am since it’s warm out now and so I don’t ha e to deal with the distractions.
So do I Mr. Fedorko, All the best! Sir, you are right in saying, there is no need for extra equipment to develop Iron palm capabilities, all you need is atree andefofrot and time. Gradual approach is the key to avoid hurting oneself and develop stamina in your palms, for arms . What caught me is the preference of using muscled parts of the hands or arms, contrary to some hardliner styles. Only one minute mistake, you are speaking and applying clockwise turning of your Dantien, but your hands are showing the opposite direction! Best regards. Paul, 67, retired insturctor of Karate.
I have been doing this for five year really great...but I remember five year back the comments were nasty....hope d master is still alive or born again
Coming back to let anyone interested know that this works wonders. Been training for about a month, i try to get 3 or 4 hour sessions every week. At first i could only do 5 sets of 10 at about 30% force for every exercise, now i can do 5 sets of 50 reps at about 70% force. If i were to slap or palm someone in the face, it would hurt like hell. Great way to condition the body!
Yeah if you ever have taken a hit from a “knife” hand to the middle of your throat or an “iron finger” to the eyeballs, no matter how tough you are, your throat will give, and your eyeballs will cave in.
Dude this shits old school bro... Your about as lucky to get one of those hits in as you are with a punch but most likely your gonna go to the ground which renders all this useless.. When people fight now its mma style no one stands up and can pull that sort of shot off anymore
For all the haters I understand where your coming from cuz nearlly all traditional martial arts are bullshit for a street fight pretty much boxing muaythai bjj and judo is wat works on the street... But how ever this guy isn't Doin any bullshit fancy moves they r all quick strikes. If old mate got the first hit in there would b no take down cuz the cunt would either b knocked out on in mass amount of pain.. Plus this video is for strengthen ur body his body would b like steel.. I can take a hit from a heavy weight n I'm only a bantam or feather weight but I would not want to take about from this guy
i know this may sound stupid, but if you want to try this training ( which i trained myself iron palm hand and iron fist, using trees, bricks, sand bags and water), do it barefoot. i can't explain it right but when i do it, it just feels so good, its like i can feel the thermal energy from Earth, and all her energies passing by my feet. if you use sneackers or shoes, rubber will cut it all...call me crazy now, but i will still do it
Great video Dale. This guy has good technique when he throws the power palm at the end, guarantee it would put the hurt on someone. I want to try some of these things, I only recently discovered how strong a power palm strike is. I feel like the power palm cross should be added to boxing/ punch teachings. because those cross muscles get worked much harder when I focus on throwing power palms, likely because of the greater impact (knuckles probably absorb some impact) - it is a good thing to do at the end of training, as it quickly gasses out those large muscle groups on your power side. I cock my shoulder with my left arm fully extended almost and step in with my right power palm, naturally spinning the right palm counter clockwise before it hits the target, as you do a cross. learning to use that back foot with the cross /palm and spin your weight off of it is what determines the velocity of either strike . The palm strike is at least twice as powerful a cross. I cannot imagine what damage a conditioned hand like his would do to a human being at even half power, probably about like being whacked with a 2x4. Another thing to help with power cross or palm power, take a light resistance band (red), tie off chin height or a little lower, step away from band holding band with both arms, fully extended, and then move the band to the other side of your body with your arms fully extended, straight out in front of you.
Trees also provide healing energy that aids you dan tien

For hand conditioning, what always comes to mind for me is the scene early in the movie 'Enter The Dragon'. The guys arrive on Han's island. Several training scenes shown including the one guy sticking his hands in & out of a container of heated sand.
so glad u didn't forget to mention the jow. before training, and after too. i used to have my taiji student practice on a tree almost just like that. i even had him do grasps birds tail on a huge tree like that . haha i tried to help him think better than to just be a gang member in NYC, he was chinese .
Happy I found this video I damaged my right hands fingers tendons so I need to learn palm strikes, hopefully I can make a fist again after my recovery,
Ok, so there are Experts, those who are considered Proficient, then competent, beginners, novice, and then there is me..... way down here, so what was the concoction in the jar that's to be applied to the hands, wrists, and forearms? He said most importantly, do this first, but then I have no knowledge of it. Is it a purely physical skin absorption compound for minimizing bruising, or is it more of an herbal, spiritual/mental, inner healing catalyst? Forgive my lack of understanding.
Can I use my Chi at the same time to not worry about arthritis? Or better yet, use it on full-blast to increase rapid body repair and high pain tolerance with this technique to skip decades of work?
EXELENTE VIDEO EXPLICATIVO MAESTRO EN EL PANGAMUT FILIPINO HAY MUCHAS TECNICAS DE GOLPEAR CON LAS PALMAS LA PALMA DE HIERRO ES UN COMPLEMENTO EXELENTE A MI ENTRENAMIENTO
Sooo, spear hand/finger tip training is bad because it will cause premature arthritis but slapping the back of your hand on a tree is good even though it smashes all those veins and blood vessels and thickens up the tendons so you can't close your fingers or hold a pencil? Not to mention the possible blood clots that will circulate throughout your body and possibly lodge in your eye or heart. I think it might be easier to carry a collapsible baton or knife.
I just started training in the martial arts I'm 63 years old I like to know how long does it take to condition your hands and your knuckles to get hard is there a treatment to make your hands and arm stuff thank you
I'm pretty sure your best bet is to buy a kit. The herbs you need for Dit Da Jow aren't the kind of thing you'll find in a GMC or likely even any local herbal healing stores. Plum Dragon and East Meets West seem to be reputable
Pine trees work great as makiwari, especially long leaf pine, which has larger bark. Starting out it is easier on the hands if the bark is wet. After a good soaking rain the bark will be more soft and spongy. If you don't has access to "dit jow" try soaking the hands in very warm brine solution before & after training. Salt tends to toughen skin and cauterize minor wounds. Piease be responsible and use a large, healthy tree; the larger the diameter, the better. Training on trees less than 8" in diameter could eventually kill the tree. No....I'm not kidding. If you can break a stack of boards, you can probably kill a tree.
Angie Rogers yes. It’s like wereing gloves without gloves on bone wise, not so much skin wise. Your bones get heavier and you acclimate to striking contact and the feeling of being heavy handed with light force. Your skin does not toughen that much without buckets of hot sand and knife hand striking, but who wants hands that feel like sand paper and calluses everywhere. You need hit medicine herbals or you can’t sustain the hitting more than a few weeks.
Its true, When hitting the tree you are getting micro fractures in the beginning bloody knuckles all the time, constantly. but one day honestly, ththey just dont bleed any more. This is when I was training, my hand bleed now, but then......they were like hammers, now just a hard stone. We di Win Tsun, or win chun....overwhelm with volume quantity and positioning. Forcing an opponent to react to having to defend, not having a chance to be in position to have any offense. Force them on defense always, take the space where their feet reside now, and press forward, like a nimble Pissed off bull.
I studied Iron Palm the old fashioned way. But I really like this way of doing it, I wish I had seen this way sooner.
Your lifetime of training really shows, sir. Thank you for taking the time to share your knowledge and experience.
John life time training much respect to him as a person but he hits it so hard cuz he’s old and numb

Thank you, very much for this excellent and highly informative and practical video. I have been sharing it with my friends and clients. I did your routine twice so far, and I was amazed at how strong my hands gotten; just two sessions!
I remember doing tree training as a boy who just started training and the look on my neighbors faces was priceless.

I use trees as well when I am not at home.
Make sure you boil the sand and sterilize it. I have done it this way as well but had mold grow out from the beach sand.
I have tried the phone book too. It's ok but not as good as using sand. And believe me the Iron balls are really the best way to do it. The Iron balls absorb the shock way better than any other way. It's worth the expense in the long run.

The trees going Ahhhhh. Haven’t had my back scratched ever🤣🤣🤣🤣

The paper bark tree is one that is ideal for this type of training , ie it’s soft on the outside but solid on the inside . Best of training everyone 😎
I did this and the makiwara it really condition the hands to make strong.
Thank you so much sir for the great video,I would like to learn more from you .

I like your insistence on strict protocol nothing else by the way, a Waveform standardization. This WILL NOT BE COMPROMISED.
thank you! very useful. I am conditioning my hands and grip!
I just started training in the martial arts I'm 63 years old I like to know how long does it take to condition your hands and your knuckles to get hard is there a treatment to make your hands and arm stuff thank you
CRASH!!!!!! Tree falls down....good training vid.
Is lvl 6 when you do this with a cactus
Ahahhahaha
Wonderful Sifu!
We do that stuff in Bajiquan. Good exercises!
Awesome video good job on the tree what kind of jaw is that lotion you put on your arms thanks again for the video taught me a lot I study Kenpo
Sir, I know this is an old video, but do you have a homemade recipe for Dit Da Jow?
I'm pretty sure your best bet is to buy a kit. The herbs you need for Dit Da Jow aren't the kind of thing you'll find in a GMC or likely even any local herbal healing stores. Plum Dragon and East Meets West seem to be reputable
To instructor in video
At 80 some years old are you really going to strike like that for about a hour to condition ?
That a nice place for doing kung fu becuse here is nature and beautifull tree back side....
Minecraft in Adventure Mode:
Warning disclaimer no trees were harmed or her harass while making of this video I have you back Grandpa

Is it just me who finds that noise when I hits the tree relaxing
This was very informative and interesting!
So, as far as jow goes, can you make your own? What do you put in it?
Thank you for the video. Please excuse my ignorance: what’s in the bottle?
SALUTE AND RESPECT TO YOU SIR...

What is that jar?
And the important thing he was saying at last?

NANDA GOPAL NASKAR Its a Chinese liniment called dit da jow...its for faster healing of your hands after working on the tree!
nice information sir.. what's is it did you apply in the last .or what oil is it ?
Good and all that is fine. Thanks for asking in process.
great video Dale
I often train on the tree also
Bloufa Abadla "Dit Da Jow" read my book "Iron Power Palm" or talk to a chinese herb shop
Nice picture
dantian going clockwise is horizontal or vertical. Top view or bottom view? Thank you for answering.
Great video, thanks!
Lol so primitive yet effective 🦴🧠🏋️♂️👍it works
i love it but i dont really get it. is it good for you in the long run?
This is going to be fun, has anyone tried this and gotten results??
Awesome video sir.
There is a tree in the background that has smoother texture. He could use that.
