Opening that box was like Christmas morning! Except the unboxing in 1990 would have been way more violent! Part everywhere! Haha
I had all of these sets when I was a kid. Sadly, they must have been sold or donated over the years. I really have no idea what happened them. They were great toys, but they should have come with at least 1 or 2 vehicles. Galoob ended up producing more than two dozen different Hiways & Byways sets throughout the 1990s.

Yes, Micro Machines are very hard to find these days. I don't see many on eBay. Unlike Hot Wheels, they weren't ever re-released because of Hasbro buying Galoob. That's sad because Micro Machines produced many realistic and cool city sets, and I'm sure collectors will buy them if they were ever re-released.
