As you said, as a plumbing contractor in America, even though you think a job is going to take 3 days and it takes 4 you just need to keep your head down and crack on and get through it. Love your videos.

The spirotech will not strip out micro bubbles on a pressurised system. IMI can provide you with a chart on the relationship between pressure and temperature for micro bubble removal. A new domestic vacuum de gaser will be on the market from IMI soon. The Spirovent is good for open vented systems.

Did my leaking toilet and waste pipe. When move in House is 20 years old must have been the original doughnut and back plate. Had to cut the bolts backplate was 90% rust 😂😂😂😂 did the fill and siphon valves while I was there 😃😃😃

Sticking a TMV there is a massive legionella risk and a really, really bad idea. All the pipe work after the mixer is now 50C and as combi’s have no recirculation that temperature will keep falling and just be a breeding ground since legionella develops between 30-50C. Mixer valves should be installed as close to the appliance as possible (3 metres worst case).
TheBaconMafia no he’s a reg of his own this man didn’t you know that.....he’s like British Gas...they don’t need to renew qualifications as there on going training is enough haha
I usually give the threads a little spray with WD40 when fitting or repairing close coupled WCs, don’t know if it makes any difference in the long run but it may help to slow the rusting process a little.
I can't get my head around some people. Not only did they leave that toilet leaking for what looks like a couple of years, causing hundreds of pounds worth of damage, but they didn't bother figuring out that they could literally just isolate it, flush it and chuck a towel underneath.

Pb don't worry about people saying you have bent the copper wrong , clearly they don't have a bender or any idea how to pull a bend in . Leave em to it

never seen a TMV fitted under a combi, not a bad idea, thanks for that!
The TMV Should be fitted within 2M of the outlet as to avoid legionella

Mee too. Started off on installs but then ended up being a breakdown engineer forb15 years. Sick of running around a load of job a day so going bak to installs. I'm nervous actually. Hope I can still do it. Like back boiler to combi etc. Anyway good luck

Blimey, nearly 47 minutes gone in a flash. Been watching for a while, admire your work - such pride in what you do, I mean who makes lagging look that good? We had a new Boiler a few years ago, our pipes look crap, there was virtually no lagging and what I did myself don't look like yours! Personally I'd like to see 45 minutes on flaring pipes, soldering and bending pipes, suspect that would be another video that would go pretty quick. Please keep up the content, I for one appreciate it.
Atag filter 12 yrs warrenty, the boiler does its own air purge, i fit these boilers every week at least 3/4 good boiler once you know the menu settings

We scrapped those red fibre washers a few years back. We now use nitrile o rings. Far superior.

we also use the spyrotec mb3 on every system we build. we call it "magnabooster" here. works great and is nice to fit.
i also love the amount of detail you put into fitting the insulation. we use "armaflex" but thats probably only suited for viega press fittings, or generally a "cold" installation without soldering
Fab Pete! great video. As many of us said on your last one, no two jobs are the same and that first toilet proves that point - even you seemed surprised that it wasn't the donut! We really all do learn from these things, and they are not repeats :) Looking forward to the next one!
Great vid Pete. As I said on twitter last week you should definitely have a tutorial on pipe bending. You've got it nailed but it's difficult for a lot of people, it takes me some time to get back in the swing of it as I don't have a lot of installs these days.

When I fit cistern bolts I put silicon around the bolt from the underside , this squeezes out the excess when you fit the penny washer and hex nut .
Thats a cracking idea putting a blend valve on the boiler to get extra flow rate
But tmvs are used to protect the vulnerable from scalding not to increase flow rates. There's a reason boiler manufacturers don't include them in their boilers to increase flow rates and that's down increasing legionella risk.

I always ptfe tape the threads on the fixing bolts, where they pass through the rubber cone washers, it does stop any water tracking down the threads as often happens ... ps those fixing bolts must be stainless or brass.
Always like watching people who know what they're doing. Shows a lot of knowledge and experience.
Wicked really enjoyed watching that, although the the toilet with the leaking clamping screw I probably would of quoted for a new filling valve and flushing unit for good measure as it was off. Leant a lot more about boilers internally and look forward to more of these, 👌

I find them magnetic dirt separators rubbish and I know they've got a wire mesh in them as well, but I still think you're better off using a Magna clean.
Yes and no. Spirex is a big player in industrial world, and I have been using their products at home for some time. The mesh in Spirex is more efficient to catch anything that magnet will not catch plus bigger corrosion particles. Saying this however, I do have experience first hand - I installed Spirex first and left existing Magna, withing 30cm from each other - and can confirm, that Magna will catch smaller particles that Spirex did not. So personally I am a bit disappointed with Spirex. Also, I use deaerator and sadly it does not remove all air, as advertised. Still, I like how things were done here BUT no mention of flushing ;).

I really enjoy your videos. Great quality content. The audio is not too low or high. I'm going to plumbing college in January to get an NVQ level 2 and hopefully make something of my life. I appreciate it must be difficult to work all week and then spend the amount of time after editing and uploading. I can only say thank you. I'm glad I stumbled onto your life of a jobbing plumber videos because I really look forward to them.
..nice pipe work .i am a bit sceptic about the blending valve.Hot tap out temperatures will be affected .Kitchen taps we need at least 60degrees for hygienic purposes.
Well, I think that mold doesn’t came from liking toilet.
This Water tank without insulation on inside. That why when cold water get inside, on outside you can see air condensation. And it’s doesn’t matter how many times you change the robbers. It’s mostly happen on summer.
That was a great video PB. The change off drain great idea we have all got into trouble with a stuck drain off on a Cylinder. 👍

Great vid as usual. The rusty bolts on cisterns get on my nerves, I've got a deep wing nut spanner that attaches to a 1/2'' drive ratchet, snaps them right off if can hold the inside at the same time.

Had about 10 comments as I watching the video but forgot ha...you are one of the best PB
Nice video, TMV should be close to outlets to minimise legionella risk, since the bacteria thrive in warm water (as opposed to hot which kills it, or cold which doesn’t lead to significant growth). Might not be a huge risk on a domestic system, but seems like an unnecessary step unless there’s an issue not mentioned. Could just fit to the bathroom supply if bath temperature is a concern with kids or elderly.

Love the vids PB! 60 sec fault finding is awesome, the toilets jobs always lean something new, and the underfloor heating WOW! I've been in construction most of my working life but only recently been plumbing full time for a year or so. Your vids make a huge difference to alot of people. Your standard of work sets the bar and I hope we can all follow.
