I tried this for my crypts when you mentioned it in one of your videos and it worked. It seem to adapt faster and grow new leaves in a shorter time comparing to having the leaves melt back before new leaves can be seen.
I don't know how you do it, but you always post pot tips when I need them ^^ One topic that I would love you to cover is how to grow a nice patch of emersed plants without having them dry out. Which species will adapt best? How to place the light to avoid drying them?
Get either tissue culture plants or plants straight from the nursery. Stem plants and carpeting plants work best emersed. High humidity in the beginning until the plants develop strong roots. You can cover the glass or tank with clear film and start making holes into it after 4 weeks. Every day +1 hole after you don’t see any humidity on the glass and the plants are fine, you can remove the film and enjoy emersed plants
I just bought my first African Water Fern and have read so far they are slow growers, no doubt like the usual Java Fern. So if you cut one down to the rhizome like in the video, won't it take FOREVER for it to reach the original size he started with?
If it’s submersed leafs, don’t cut them. If they are emersed, they will die off anyway. Ferns are slow growing yes, but once all leafs removed they used the stored energy in the rhizome to quickly produce new leafs as they need them to make photosynthesis
In my experience, if you're starting with an emersed form and want it to grow out of the water, you have to place the rizhome quite near to the surface so the leaves are already out of the water from the start. The submersed leaves will wilt but the rhizome should be okay or just cut all the leaves like jurijs did. Usually, the third newest leaf will already be a complete emersed form. That's how i do it. Maybe others have a different trick. 😃
Hmm I don't think floating trick will work with rhizome plants since the leaves will always be submerged by their own weight unless they're stuck onto something to stop it from rotating/rolling at the surface. It's not like a rhizome without leaf will float anyway haha
So habe ich sie in mein P.Vittatus Terrarium gesetzt auf Hygrolon. Sie wuchern wie Hulle. Danke für den Tipp. Wusste nicht das das Submers auch so toll geht.
Very very nice tip. There is any hope that you can put artist which you use in background? Actually I’m your fan, and i didn’t expect it even. Very good job.
Nic Lawrenson nah get something cool like 6 kuhli loaches, snails are cool, or you could get a filter feeding shrimp (bamboo shrimp) but that may nip at your gourami
This plant in the USA is never sold at LFS..and online,I see only one person who's offering it and by the time you toss in shipping and taxes I think it's about $30..for a small plant. To get any coverage soon..means buying multiple plants. I could see taking one and doing what you did to spread it around. Bolbitis does well without Co2. Plenty of light and moving water are requirements.
@@JurijsJutjajevs Jurijs..I just used that gel glue on Willow moss. I hope your right! Also,if you want a great laugh? Read the close captioning of what you said. In stitches!..even profane!
@@JurijsJutjajevs I see. I have a bolbitis I planted a few days ago- the ryzome split apart as I removed it from the pot so I planted them separately, a stem or two per section- and I'm only noticing regrowth of the roots. It's a little early to tell but I hope the plants will be ok.
@@JurijsJutjajevs I have at least one picture on Twitter. The growth is at the very tip of the frond, and there was one of those bumps before that. I suppose it’s possible Top Fin mislabeled a plant.
Can I just put the plant on top of soil without any woods or rock on the root? I know it shouldn't be planted in soil, but can I just put it in my tank just like that?
Short but sweet 👌🏻
Cutting off leaves is astonishingly often a very good way to improve the health of your aquaric plants.
Could i do that to a java fern ????

Perfect short leson thx
Thanks a lot.
It was very interesting. I didn't know we could cut them like that. 🌿
My go to guy from now for sure, thank you!!!!
Thanks Vee, please share if you like
Oh fern! One of my fav plants.
yay! new video. keep up the good work!
Interesting , Great advice Tks for sharing....
Cool, thanks this was helpful
Wow thats new for me. Thanks for sharing Juri. Love it. Keep the good content 👊🏻
does it also apply for bolbitis difformis mini?
Great 👍 plant hack. Will they flower out of the water?
Yes! I agree, it works very well 👌

How long does it take for the leaves to grow back?
That is a great tip.
Hello. the same be done with Microsorum?
Yes, works with alll ferns

From this movie
Interesting! Thank you!
Thanks for sharing juri, btw can I use this technique for anubias?
can we do the same thing (cutting leaves ) to Bucephalandra 1:40 ??can u make a video on how to propagate Buce ??
Hi Juri. Does this technique also apply to Trident ferns? Thank you
And tip two and three are .... .?
i was wondering what type of shrimp/cleanup crew you would recommend for a planted 40 gallon tank. need it so that they don’t get eaten by my gourami
Amano shrimp, nerite snails, otto cats

I never have any luck with this plant. They keep turning black and dying off. Other plants are doing so well

It was so great to know I can cut off those old ugly leaves 👍😃
can the leaves regrow without the ryzome if they are placed in aquarium water?
I don’t think so, Microsorum can grow baby plants on their leafs, bolbitis not

Where are the other two tips? You only talked about one and then briefly mentioned no.3 but didn't go into any detail :(
2. Zip lock bag. ; 3. Have it grow out of the water.
But I agree that this is quite disappointing content given the intriguing title of the video.
My Bolbitis h is only two weeks into my new aquarium, and plantlets are growing off the spores. What do you recommend?
Bolbitis heudelotii doesn’t grow plantlets

Yes you can
