onion bhaji, vegetable pakoras and vegetable samosas is what i can get around here in indian restaurants. i really love all of them. if i had to choose i'd go with one of the first two choices though.
"You're saying you take one more, you took four more".... Dad: "Yes, that's indian style" --- that's GOLD..... Awesome family! can't wait to try this myself.
My dad tricked me for yeeeeears by teaching me that dads needed at least 2 of everything to taste it; so everything from pieces of candy to plates of food fell to the Daddy Tax 😂😂😂
Oh my goodness, Nisha your parents are so sweet. I love when they're featured in a segment. Your Dad cracks me up wanting to be a park ranger with his cute hat. Thank you for the recipe, Nisha!
I appreciate how you explain the origins and history behind the dish! Food is such a fascinating part of all human history! Your excitement when cooking is so genuine and pure. You make me want to keep exploring in the kitchen. Ps. Your dad is the cutest flippin' thing!! He's so proud of his hat! 😂 Machu Pichu is on my bucket list. I wish I could be a park ranger too buddy! This planet is so fun to explore!
🥰 thanks for your lovely comment Ashley! I agree, I find food history and culture so interesting (as well as this planet) and glad you’re excited to explore more!
I didn't feel like deep frying, but since your dad said the baked version was a little dry I tried to adapt the recipe a little bit: I didn't add any batter and simply roasted the cauliflower in the oven with a bit of oil and spices, and then coated it with the sauce. It was surely less crispy, but definitely not dry! Maybe a good compromise for those who don't want to deep fry
Even though deep fried food can taste heavenly, my stomach doesn’t like it anymore afterI got my gastric band. So I’ll skip that part too and stirfry it in the wok.
This takes me back to college in Bangalore with the only two Indian friends I made the whole year I was there, Oli and Mo! We would gobble down the canteen's Gobi Manchurian, super oily and red with I think food colour...and it was the most delicious thing in the world to us! Miss them, and the street version of this dish. Thanks for the memories
We are in Canada and my parents met in India during WWII. My mum Indian but reared in Burma. My dad - English blonde and blue eyes loved curry for his entire life. My mum would make some curry about twice a week and on holidays. For example. On Christmas we had a turkey, a steak and kidney pie/or roast beef and a lamb and boiled egg curry. My dad always said ,even until his death here in Canada - he had never had as amazing Chinese food as he did in India.
For the past 2 weeks I made this recipe 3 times. It's unbelievably delicious and crispy. I made it with broccoli instead of cauliflower and it still was delicious. Thank you for the great ideas!
I love it whenever your parents are on the channel. I know they will give an honest opinion, no bs… and they’ll always make us laugh somehow. That looks delicious Nisha, can’t wait to try it!
I literally tried this dish in Goa few years back, i had never heard of it and when i tried it blew my socks away!!! I still remember the taste of it 🤤 My partner who isn’t particularly a huge cauliflower fan thought it was one of the best dishes everrrr
Hey, honestly thank you so much for posting this. Getting into some of these more heavily-spiced dishes can be very intimidating because there are so many combinations and even sources and subtle variations! You presented this in a really fun, light, approachable way! I'm not Indian myself but for some reason grew up around a large Indian community and have always eaten Indian food growing up. It's literally to the point where now I feel like Indian food is a home-food/comfort-food to me (as WELL as an exciting and fun option when dining out!) I just have so much love for it, as some who didn't quite have their own Indian auntie but certainly spent a lot of time around my friends' Indian aunties! Anyways, it's been a while now that I've been wanting to make my own dishes instead of blowing all my money dining out all the time! This will be my first step!
You’re my favorite vegan RUclips chef not just because your food is amazing but also I’m white and my gf is Indian and currently her parents don’t accept me but one day I hope they come around and I’ll be able to cook one of your fantastic dishes for them.
I’m honored to hear it, AJ! Some Indian parents can be tough nuts to crack, but usually in my experience, once they know their children are happy and doing well, they eventually come around! I hope they will come around soon and that you’ll be able to cook for them one day!
if you flaunt just your culinary skills,as a male, then chances of accepting you by Indian family will go even lesser :)) . May be you dont stop with showing only the cooking prowess but can go on to show your care for gf & some appreciation for their lifestyle & culture. Good luck & Best wishes!!
Thank you for creating recipes that aren't so healthy all the good stuff is taken out! (Example: bloggers who create vegan, gluten-free, nut-free, soy-free cheesecakes!) If we eat right most of the time, there is room for the less healthy stuff on occasion and I appreciate you for also creating great-tasting "sometimes" foods.
Yesss, absolutely! While I think it’s important to eat a diet rich in veggies and legumes and whole grains, I also think food (and life) is meant to be enjoyed!
Looks so delicious:) And I love your taste testers. I have to thank your dad for his enthusiastic describtion of roasting mustard seeds (pop, pop, pop) on a different occasion. They are locally well available, and I have neglected them before - so tasty, in almost all dishes!
I love this appetizer when I go to my favorite Indian restaurant, Saffrons to eat. I am going to the store right now to get everything I need to make this. Thank you for this recipe. And I just love your enthusiasm and care of all your dishes and parents.
Some of my favorite dishes have come about when different cultures or ingredients come crashing together. Gobi Manchurian is one of the best! It’s a kind of magic, the way that the different influences come together.
Everything about this is perfect. I am a HUGE Indian food/indo-chinese food fan and this is one of my all-time favorite dishes. We have some places here in Austin that serve some of the best Gobi Manchurian I've ever had. Most every recipe I tried at home was lacking that tomato-ey sweetness. Excellent call with the ketchup! I made it and it was spot on. Exactly what I've been looking for for years! Liked, subscribed, and definitely looking at all your recipes now! Your parents were also hilarious!
I wish I could post a photo of how my dish turned out, because it looks amazing and tastes EVEN BETTER!! I'm on a special diet so I used coconut sugar, cassava flour, tamari and sugarless ketchup. And i put a TON of scallions and cilantro on top! I am new to indian food and I am now in love with indian-asian fusion!! 10/10
Gobi Manchurian is hands down the best app ever. I just discovered a local restaurant that does Indian pizza. They have a gobi Manchurian pizza and it’s amazing
IHi! I've just discovered your channel, and I'm so thrilled! How lovely are your recipes...and your family!!! Your recipes are so good; they are very well explained, step by step, easy to understand/follow (even for foreigners: personnal belief, of course). I really want to try this one! I live in France, in Bretagne, a region where cauliflowers are grown all year. I will try this recipe for my family (6 children= surely without the single green pepper's membranes, ough!). Many thanks,... et bonne continuation!
Definitely going to be trying this. I agree that it seems like the deep fried version is totally worth it. I used to never deep fry because it requires more attention/work, but now I deep fry on occasion and I LOVE it. Definitely will be adding this to my deep fry rotation. I’m not scared of a little oil! Lol!
I made this today (Finally!!) and it was delicious! I had it for my lunch & could have eaten the whole thing it was soooo good!! Thanks for sharing such wonderful dishes!! I love your videos!!!❤️
You are awesome cook.. lovely family it reminds me of my parents in India.. they keep giving me compliments till last bite..make our spirits up to do more creative stuff.. n more.. wish you the best..!
I just made this and oh my gosh!!! DELICIOUS! I doubled the sauce and served it over noodles. I also only used 1 Serrano that I removed the seeds from and it’s still a wee bit too spicy. My picky 11 year old is chowing down and I used the bake method. Love love love this.
That's what we also do in India too. Also its quite a versatile dish, you can add baby corn, paneer/tofu or if you are non-vegetarian boneless chicken/prawn & fish. You can also serve it with rice (fried rice to be more specific) just like you did with noodles( again a common Street dish in India), it will be a full course meal on of its own. Just have a cola/fizz or some soothing drink to accompany this; like a mint or something.
There's an Indian restaurant in Pittsburgh I loved in college... I'd always get this to share with friends and then chana saag (this was before I was vegan). I can't wait to try this recipe out
I had this dish in a restaurant the other day and was blown away. Thank you so much for showing us how to make it. Love your parents they make me smile 😊
Sister my favorite Indian food: Naan (cooked in a tandoori oven) and dhal. I was in India for a looooooong time, primarily the MacLeod Ganj area (I wanted to see the Dalai Lama but he wasn't there) and Rishikesh (I used to translate a weekly magazine about a guru who lived in Rishikesh. My stomach is very delicate and I can only eat light food. In MacLeod Ganj, I found freshly baked bread, homemade peanut butter, Chinese noodles and other veggies. There are many Western people in MacLeod Ganj so you can find all kinds of food but for vegans you have to pay attention because they use dairy everywhere. Rishikesh, on the other hand, is a very spiritual small town by the Ganga River surrounded by ashrams. I was so blessed, I found a healthy restaurant with vegan food who cooked me spaghetti (yep, I was born and raised in Italy and I love pasta!) and all sorts of healthy vegan meals. The place was inside a health center which also offers massages, and a spa. Absolutely delicious! Then I found a Hare Krishna restaurant which offered incredibly tasty vegetarian and vegan dishes (the vegan options were marked on the menu), very healthy and nutritious too. And when I was feeling ill, the young hotel manager where I was staying (a cheap one with river view), cooked dhal and rice for me: the best medicine and very tasty too! Thank you all for the great time and wonderful food. 🍲😊😁😀🙌😃😄😉👏
Indo-Chinese cuisine started in China Town (Tangra) area of Kolkata. There are still many Chinese Indian people living there. If you go there you can find some very uncommon street food dishes and some reputed restaurants serving Indo-Chinese cuisine. Fun fact, there is also a temple of Hindu goddess Maa Kali called Chinese Kali Temple where the goddess is given noodles as holy offering and you can also get some as prasad.
SLAYYYY i just stumbled upon your change not too many moons ago and i've been introducing my family to indian food and we're all OBSESSED with gobi manchurian!! you're a LIFE SAVER ! i'm definitely going to make this ASAP
your dad is so funny, i remembered when you were asking for a recipe through video/voice call to your mom and your dad taking the lead to answer hahahahah. anyway, your parents are good looking so no wonder you're beautiful as well. cant wait to try your recipe someday :D
Wonderful video! Personally i love vegetable manchurian ( made with fried dumplings of various vegetables) more than cauliflower but i will need to try it out with your sauce recipe!
Just found this channel..I already follow some massive channels that show amazing authentic dishes and thought, what is this channel going to show that is so different. I must say, I am impressed with how sweet this lady is and her humility and just charming nature. More power to you! Stay blessed! And the dishes are amazing too!
ZOMG! We just made this and it’s mind blowing 🤯!! We didn’t fry it, we air fried it and it was amazing!!! We added panko, cooked at 450 and kept an eye on it. It was approximately 25 minutes in the fryer. (We have a Breville smart oven pro). Thank you Nisha! Another incredibly flavorful dish!!! 👏
I tried that recipe yesterday and I have to say it is one of the tastiest vegan dishes I’ve ever had. So delicious. A little bit of work but definitely worth it!! Thanks Nisha ❤️
I wonder if for the baked version the florets are flash steamed and then baked could it provide a close result to the fried version? Of course dried a bit before dropping into batter....
Just made this today, frying the gobi took the most amount of time. But the tips around double fry and cooled down sauce was fantastic. Flavour was awesome and dish was sooooo crispy and delicious. Perfect dry gobi munchurian!!!! Thank you
Ok, this was my very first Indian food to make. Absolutely delicious!! I ended up doubling the sauce for a larger batch. Unfortunately, my cauliflower wasn’t crunchy. Does it almost need to be burned?
Hi, thankyou for your recipe, i tried it and enjoyed the beautiful flavours immensely. Enjoyed watching your parents sampling your creation and with no word of a lie, your Dad's critique reminded me so much of my Dearest late Dad who would always say when tasting my cooking " it's pretty good" BUT it could have had such and such to make it better! and i've been a chef for 40+ years! Not meaning to be rude or too inquisitive, are you of Goan descent? I'm Anglo-Indian and came from Bombay to Australia back in 1973. Loved all Goan cuisine especially the Goa sausages (chorise). Please keep posting more of your recipes as being a retired chef, i enjoy cooking other peoples recipes.
I love this video! The food looks good and it looks like something I wouldn't mess up, at home. Also your parents are lovely....the apple didn't fall far from the tree, at all. Thank you for the amazing videos, I binge watch them everyday. 🙏🏾💛🙏🏾
Glad to see that your parents are so down to earth and made good constructive criticism and praise that was informative, will be trying it myself..thanks
I love your parents! They are so sweet and so very honest with you. Will you try this recipe with an air fryer? Also, I love the taste of chilies, and I would have de-veined the serranos to cut down the heat but keep that nice chili flavor. No substitute for that. Or, not use a green bell pepper but to sub poblamo peppers maybe.
Thank you! Unfortunately it came out quite gummy in the air fryer. It’s possible it would work but you’d have to adjust the ratios in the batter. And yes the flavor of chilies is so good and integral to this dish in my opinion , but I know some people are very sensitive to spicy food 😅
Hahaha I love how your Dad is going in for seconds and thirds lol you're parents are so nice and very clear that you get your beauty from your mom. This recipe looks amazing 👏 great video. Love from Ireland 🇮🇪 ❤️
I made the baked version, and we all loved it! I air-fried the cauli ahead of battering it, to give it some extra flavor and texture, then followed the steps. I used corn flake crumbs as the final dip over the batter and it was nice and crunchy, and the side sauce is delicious.
What's your favorite Indian appetizer? Get the printable Gobi Manchurian recipe here: rainbowplantlife.com/gobi-manchurian/
I'm gonna have to try this, but I also love any kind of samosa!
Excellent. Let's up my cooking game another notch.
onion bhaji, vegetable pakoras and vegetable samosas is what i can get around here in indian restaurants. i really love all of them. if i had to choose i'd go with one of the first two choices though.
Probably all of them, if I’m being frank. 🤷🏻♀️😍😂
You should do a cookbook.
"You're saying you take one more, you took four more".... Dad: "Yes, that's indian style" --- that's GOLD..... Awesome family! can't wait to try this myself.
lol he did that 😂 hope you’ll enjoy the recipe!
This got me too lmao
My dad tricked me for yeeeeears by teaching me that dads needed at least 2 of everything to taste it; so everything from pieces of candy to plates of food fell to the Daddy Tax 😂😂😂
Oh my goodness, Nisha your parents are so sweet. I love when they're featured in a segment. Your Dad cracks me up wanting to be a park ranger with his cute hat.

When you said it was an appetizer and you wouldn't eat the whole thing I thought speak for yourself lol... looks delicious!
😂 in all fairness, Max and I have eaten the whole dish by ourselves. I was just trying to persuade folks who are wary of fried food lol.
@@RainbowPlantLife lol I appreciate you trying to keep us quasi-healthy
@@RainbowPlantLife could it possibly work in the ninja foodie?
I think it's fair to say if I bake or air-fry it... all bets are off. It's mine and it's dinner if I want it to be.
The people worried about fried food need to calm down a notch. It looks delicious

Try air fryer!
@A MjN Yes, I don't claim that this is true to the original recipe presented in the video
Even though deep fried food can taste heavenly, my stomach doesn’t like it anymore afterI got my gastric band. So I’ll skip that part too and stirfry it in the wok.
This is actually very good idea. You know that the best recipes comes from the "adding your own signature" to the dish🙏
Your Dad is so right! Enjoy the deep fried version - the best - as a special treat. It's unrivalled. Love your parents' taste testing x
Yes, I totally agree with him! So lovely to hear you enjoyed the taste test :)

Wonderful video! Personally i love vegetable manchurian ( made with fried dumplings of various vegetables) more than cauliflower but i will need to try it out with your sauce recipe!
Love the true and honest comments from the parents. Always keeping you honest! 😂
Made this tonight for the Super Bowl and it was a huge hit! Definitely going on the list of favorites.
Just found this channel..I already follow some massive channels that show amazing authentic dishes and thought, what is this channel going to show that is so different. I must say, I am impressed with how sweet this lady is and her humility and just charming nature. More power to you! Stay blessed! And the dishes are amazing too!
I've never had an Indian appetizer and rarely eat deep fried foods but would definitely give this a try!
Ty. I also have a breville
hi nisha! i was wondering what do u do with the remaining oil after deep frying something? do you reuse it?
looks delicious! have you tried air frying the battered cauliflower?
I tried that recipe yesterday and I have to say it is one of the tastiest vegan dishes I’ve ever had. So delicious. A little bit of work but definitely worth it!! Thanks Nisha ❤️
Thanks for sharing, it looks delicious. I love your taste testers. 👍🏻😊
I'm pretty sure you could have an occasional video series titled "Stuff My Parents Say" and just interview them. I just love them. haha
love the camera work, editing, style and pace. As if that wasn't enough I am so glad that you delight us without harming animals. Way to go
This looks amazing!!!! I have to make this next paycheck
I really like this video format! Thanks for the recipe.
Loved your cooking. mum and dad were the stars :) take care and keep cooking
BEAUTIFUL VIDEO! I must subscribe. You and your family are so sweet! Came here for the food, staying for the wholesomeness!
This looks so goood and your parents are so funny :')
Aren’t they? 🥰 thank you, Laura!
The expression you made when the dish was ready saying I'm so excited 🤣🤣🤣🤣 tooo funny!!!!
I’m sure there were many laughs and warm hugs growing up with your parents.
I love when you have your parents on; the coolest tasters around. Thank you sweetie; stay well.
I air fried these but briefly boiled the cauliflower before adding batter. Much crispier than a normal bake.
Oh my God that looks so good!
it tastes even better than it looks 😜😋
I wonder if for the baked version the florets are flash steamed and then baked could it provide a close result to the fried version? Of course dried a bit before dropping into batter....
Just made this today, frying the gobi took the most amount of time. But the tips around double fry and cooled down sauce was fantastic. Flavour was awesome and dish was sooooo crispy and delicious. Perfect dry gobi munchurian!!!! Thank you
Baby mouth!! So rude, but even more hilarious 😂 I don’t have a baby mouth anymore thanks to my Indian husband and in-law family dinners!!
Try spritzing the pieces with a little oil before they go into the oven, it will keep more moisture inside.
Thank you thank you so much! Absolutely LOVE Gobi Manchurian!! 😁 Love your recipes and videos too.
It's SO good, right? Thanks Maxine, so happy you enjoy my recipes and videos :)
I vividly remember the Gobi Manchurian I ate in India 5 years ago. I'm going to make this recipe! Thank you!
I love this video! The food looks good and it looks like something I wouldn't mess up, at home. Also your parents are lovely....the apple didn't fall far from the tree, at all. Thank you for the amazing videos, I binge watch them everyday. 🙏🏾💛🙏🏾
That wok is gorgeous! I didn’t see it on your equipment list; do you happen to know where it’s from?
I can’t wait to try this recipe! Your parents are adorable. Thanks for sharing your tips.
Hahaha I love how your Dad is going in for seconds and thirds lol you're parents are so nice and very clear that you get your beauty from your mom. This recipe looks amazing 👏 great video. Love from Ireland 🇮🇪 ❤️
Thank you so much!! They're the best.
I made the baked version, and we all loved it! I air-fried the cauli ahead of battering it, to give it some extra flavor and texture, then followed the steps. I used corn flake crumbs as the final dip over the batter and it was nice and crunchy, and the side sauce is delicious.
Your recipes are wonderful. Thank you for sharing this
