You've made the most comprehensive set of videos on the amp available. Hundreds of people will buy them off the back of these videos. I hope Vox give you a ton of free stuff for basically doing their marketing for them :-)
Green Dragon says:"I like how you do several videos comparing the same things but comparing it with different things" and that is exactly, what I wanted to say. You compare apples with apples and not apples with pears. Nice!
I picked up one of these (AC) for rehearsals. It works great with pedals and has a "too good to be true" sound. Absolutely worth the money. Get it and get it now.
I just picked up the MV50 Clean to use as my home amp on my 1x12 and run my pedal board into it. I also have an MXR 10-band EQ between the pedal board and amp input. I am blown away by how good that set up sounds! I wouldn't hesitate to do a small gig with just that setup!
plus add a mxr micro amp as extra boost between eq and amp also if you are in the metal tones you may also add OD between guitar and distortion to amplify more distorted signal. I call them four hoursman of apocalipse. enjoy.
overall headroom and low end transients on the traditional vacuum tube win but that's not to say that this new tech shouldn't catch on soon enough. Pretty exciting little piece of kit. It's only gonna get better.
Anthony Dallarosa that's what I'm most excited about. This range of amps is going to be revolutionary. Vox has a few videos out of a 150 watt MV prototype head that basically crammed all three MV50 models into one unit. It was pretty damn impressive.
the AC15 has the fullness you expect & love - the MV50 had this midrange focus that just made it sound small... and considering they were going thru the same speaker & cab, that means it's the tone of the amp itself that isn't quite on par. On it's own, I suppose it would be alright, but when they're compared side-by-side, the AC15 is definitely better. They would make great back-up heads for gigs though.
If he backed off the gain and you closed your eyes I don’t think you could tell the difference. When you increase the gain it becomes more mid focused.
Hey can you do a demo with overdrives in the mv50 going DI out into recording interface/mixer with no post EQ? This would be especially helpful for us guys that want to go direct to FOH...
Holy shit, this definitely convinced me to get an MV50, living in Brazil I can't really get an AC15 without getting my ass hyper-taxed, the MV50 is small and cheap enough that that won't be a problem. The size is also great for such a good sounding amp. Sure it isn't the AC15, has more mids and less clarity, but it's it's own beast and I really liked the "muddy" fuzz sound in it.
I noticed the Boutique version is selling for 89 Pounds in the UK, they screwed up, by not having an effects loop or reverb. I bought the Clean last week, love it, really great with a zoom multi fx to add a little drive and reverb, really responsive. IF YOU USE A GOOD SPEAKER CAB!
Great video. Seems the MV50 had a bit more gain dialed in than the AC15, which could have induced the mid-focused tone and lack of headroom that you noticed with the fuzz. Nice work. Now I have to raise 200 bones to get me an MV50...
In the other video I didnt liked very much the MV50, but it was because of the speakers were different. In this video, the difference is not so remarcable to my ears. Wich speaker have you used for both amps?? . Thanks a lot for the video
My theory: Nutube doesn’t respond the same to the fuzz pedal because of its low voltage operation.... so I wonder what this beast sounds like with a plasma pedal??
already returned it, so nope, lol. But the MV50 would have to be dialed in pretty quiet to be as clean as the princeton, if i ever get my hands on one of the clean versions of the MV50 ill compare them.
They all sound great! The "muffled" fuzz sounds pretty typical of pushed amps taking fuzzes IMO. No need a video on this (you're on a roll!) but perhaps lowering the gain on the MV may have had the same effect. I run my fuzz into clean amps or minimal grind, and I suspect the AC was close to minimal grind while the MV was further away hence the....muff(ledness).
Ah, I meant on a scale of 1-10 of preamp saturation (assuming no power amp influence and speakers don't distort), for similar gain levels on the AC and MV, are the two amps at similar points of the scale? If the AC has more headroom to spare, hence the open nature. Else it would be purely attributed to the differences between the two circuits. I'll still look into the MV as a Crate Powerblock solution to my HW though!
Wow this video seems to put the MV50 closer to the ac15. At the beggining there they sounded identical. Now im confused because i saw previous video i think it was from you and they sounded completely different like night and day.
Snooze00 the speakers make a big difference in the recording, ill say that in person the "feel" is different, like the ac15 moves more air through the same speaker somehow. But the mv15 can sound quite nice.
Thinking about buying this amp and super thankful for this video. The Rock version gain is kind of garbage, and the AC seems the most versatile. Wish you played with the knobs a little bit!
Great competition. Love the MV50! Just a question: How did You wire the AC15 so that You could connect the speakers of it to the MV50? Because I would have to do the same thing….
Is that what he did? I thought he ran the AC15 external speaker out to his cab, then he switched to the MV50 and ran that into the same cab. But rewatching, I think you're right. He used the AC15 speaker for both. So...I *presume* he unplugged the internal speaker from the AC15 then ran the MV50 into that input. I'm not sure if that's how it's supposed to be done, I'd use an external cab.
You've made the most comprehensive set of videos on the amp available. Hundreds of people will buy them off the back of these videos. I hope Vox give you a ton of free stuff for basically doing their marketing for them :-)
TobyC lol, I'm never going to say no to free stuff.
By far the best comparison. Thank you sir for your efforts. The mv50 is better than I expected.
Green Dragon says:"I like how you do several videos comparing the same things but comparing it with different things" and that is exactly, what I wanted to say. You compare apples with apples and not apples with pears. Nice!
Love all the tests you put this amp through. This is my new favorite gear channel!
Josh Stoll thanks!
I like how you do several videos comparing the same things but comparing it with different things. I wish people did this more. thanks
green dragon I like how you said that
60 Cycle Hum ya wacky as hell lol
You guys should date ;-)
Are you connecting the pedals before or after the MV50?
Woow, the MV50 sounds absolutely like the AC15.. Didnt expected that!
I picked up one of these (AC) for rehearsals. It works great with pedals and has a "too good to be true" sound. Absolutely worth the money. Get it and get it now.
I love the tone of that AC 15 with the Tube screamer!
Yeah, it fixes that midrange issue
I just picked up the MV50 Clean to use as my home amp on my 1x12 and run my pedal board into it. I also have an MXR 10-band EQ between the pedal board and amp input. I am blown away by how good that set up sounds! I wouldn't hesitate to do a small gig with just that setup!

Perfect vid. Exactly what I was looking for. The mv50 is amazing and your vid probably sold me one, or two.
Definitely getting the clean and AC version now. Thanks for the demo! Had requested you to do something similar and this rocks!
i like the MV30 AC with the Sacred Cow!
David Leong the sacred cow sounds good in general, it's my fav Klone.
overall headroom and low end transients on the traditional vacuum tube win but that's not to say that this new tech shouldn't catch on soon enough. Pretty exciting little piece of kit. It's only gonna get better.

Matt Jones that's the amp I want! I don't want to choose one of these, I need all 3! Currently using the Amp1 but it's too Marshally for me :/
the AC15 has the fullness you expect & love - the MV50 had this midrange focus that just made it sound small... and considering they were going thru the same speaker & cab, that means it's the tone of the amp itself that isn't quite on par. 750 bucks for the AC15 and 170 Bucks for the MV50 AC... You know what i chose :P
If he backed off the gain and you closed your eyes I don’t think you could tell the difference. When you increase the gain it becomes more mid focused.
It takes pedals better than I thought it would. I think I am going to pick up an MV50 AC to have as a backup gigging amp.
Yeah, not bad, the fuzz had a bit of a blanket on it. but the drives sounded really nice.
Normally I *hate* Tubescreamers into any kind of AC amp, but man your tone was awesome here! Great content man :)
Totally agree! This guy could sell pedals!!
Hey can you do a demo with overdrives in the mv50 going DI out into recording interface/mixer with no post EQ? This would be especially helpful for us guys that want to go direct to FOH...

I thought the MV50 AC was modelled after the Vox AC 30 rather than the AC 15

Sorry if I missed it, but what was the speaker used here?
For me; is the same color in the amps, but the mv50 need the pot on 12, and is near near of the valve amp
Gotta say I love my MV50 AC. In my late 60s and I don’t relish carrying heavy amps that I used to use. I
Best pedal to fix clarity issue in MV50? Want to be able to sound as AC 15 as possible
Great video. Seems the MV50 had a bit more gain dialed in than the AC15, which could have induced the mid-focused tone and lack of headroom that you noticed with the fuzz. Nice work. Now I have to raise 200 bones to get me an MV50...

0:47 thought it was gonna be the FRIENDS theme lol
I wonder how the comparison would go between and AC15, AC15VR and an AV60?
great video!!
Great video. Thank you. By the way, what guitar is that? Thank you
Can you comment on the respective absolute volume (particularly when set cleanish) of the two set-ups?
cool video! can I ask what guitar that is you are using here?
Is this through a 8 Ohm celestion greenback?
The best sound was achieved by your guitar with the AC15 and NO effects at all. It's such a gritty sound.
Great video!
My theory: Nutube doesn’t respond the same to the fuzz pedal because of its low voltage operation.... so I wonder what this beast sounds like with a plasma pedal??
or a HM-2 ?? plus OD and boost :D
I wanna hate the MV50, but I just can't, it sounds too good.
Can you compare your Princeton and a mv50 clean (fender ish)?
already returned it, so nope, lol. But the MV50 would have to be dialed in pretty quiet to be as clean as the princeton, if i ever get my hands on one of the clean versions of the MV50 ill compare them.
good video - i like them both really ....you cant say the Ac15 sounds bad ...but man , those new vox are very seductive little things ...
They all sound great! The "muffled" fuzz sounds pretty typical of pushed amps taking fuzzes IMO. afarce sorry about that, it was tricky keeping the two amps close to sounding similar.
great comparison! +1
what about volume? is it gigable?
Luca Felicetti it is, but if you push it up too loud it goes into some kind of power circuit protection mode and shuts off. I wouldn't run it past 90%
Does that only happen with a 16 ohm speaker, or with other arrangements? I believe it's only producing 12.5watts into 16 ohms also :(
arbitermatt the manual says it happens with 16 ohm speakers
Which speaker did you use?
Thanks this video.
The weird thing is it DOES sound very very Vox like!
Next is how to build electrostatic speakers that are good for guitar amps... so we can lug them in our backpacks.
You messed up your ,text to amp, at the 4:00 min mark
You goofed the annotations on the OFF tarpit :P
TIMExBANDIT oh dang it!
Impressed.
I can see/hear why they call it a sacred cow. BTW what kind of guitar is that?
The guitar featured in this video is a Titan KR-1 - steve
60 Cycle Hum Very cool... thanks Steve!
This MV50 AC is great.

probably just ran the send of the head into the loop of the ac15
Nice little Knobs tribute @ 1:01
what did i do?
Just the chord!
ruclips.net/video/5c4M3rwnzLY/видео.html
oh, just playing that little chord? lol, ok.
Yeah! Love your channel man.
sounds interesting
good ending
a sound can be imitated but the feel can't be duplicated... "TUBE" all the way!!!!!
This looks silly - bending down & peaking in to the camera !?
thats the joke.
