I've been working at home for 10 years and it gets better with time. Allow yourself to grieve the loss of your career but don't allow it to consume you. I used to take a day to grieve and then half a day, and eventually the funk decreases. I was fully ok, peaceful, happy, and fulfilled when I stopped comparing myself to friends and other career women. I'm happy running my business at home, having all the time for my son and husband, and taking care of myself. It will get better. ❤
Thank you for this. Watching this today was really perfect timing. I’ve been dealing with some spiritual warfare lately that’s caused me to be in a bit of a funk, too. I’ve been so depressed and frustrated with so many aspects of my life. I teared up several times throughout the video. So thank you for reminding me that it’s okay to feel this way, but there are plenty of ways to get myself up and motivated again.
I got on RUclips today to “accidentally” end up watching videos and avoid my homework because I haven’t been feeling motivated this semester. Needless to say this video popped up and I’m now going to make a plan to get back on track, thanks Maya!

We hustle. We are hustlers. And when we don't have every single second planned out for us, it feels so unnatural and uneasy, which makes us think that something is wrong but nothing is wrong. Things are just different. I'm glad you're realizing the reason for how you're feeling and then addressing it! I am still working on that.. I don't know what the right answer is - but it seems being a full time teacher and content creator is just too much (and it is!) but now that you have more time for yourself, something feels empty, and you find a replacement for it such as teaching, tutoring, substituting to fill in those gaps. But are those gaps just us wanting to be busy and feel productive every second because we're accustomed to it? (Being busy is our comfort zone right?) I'm asking these questions to myself as well and putting it out there I guess! I had four jobs at one point (accountant, baker, barista, and a property manager..didn't last long) but now I scaled it to two jobs (accountant and property manager) and I still went out to look for another job because I had time in my hands and I felt "empty." Now, I want to quit because not necessarily what I WANT to do and I feel like I'm "wasting time" even though I'm earning $$. But I can't seem to fulfill the gap that's missing because I don't exactly know what's missing but I'm glad you are aware of your missing puzzle Maya! I can really relate to everything you feel, I left my job to enjoy my life and live the mornings the way I want where I want, and yes that felt amazing sometimes, but sometimes it wasn't easy. This phase of your life and the emotions you feel is your sign that you are transforming to a better version, by doing what you do, you will learn how to truly love your self and get rid of the shame and anger that creeps inside us sometimes, you will heal, and find your true purpose, then you will come back stronger.

I’m learning to give myself grace and really try to find the root cause of things and asking God to reveal the areas that I need to let go of.
The amount of difficult in what we do has to reach a level that doesn't bored us or overwhelm us. My job alone can be so boring at times that I don't feel like doing it, I'm still struggling with that. That's why I picked up the challenge to learn Mandarin last year and hopefully can take a uni course this semester (I already have a degree).
I really needed this video today. I’ve been struggling with this for the past year. I started my own barbering business and now I have so much more time and I can pursue other parts of my field through my business. There’s so many positives but I get the exact same feelings you have described. ♥️

I’m so happy to see you upload this - I haven’t watched the entire thing yet but I was hoping to ask you how I can maintain a good self care routine (especially having a stable sleeping schedule) when in grief and stress? My school life has been super stressful lately with piles of work and big events to plan plus dealing with the loss of my beloved animal companion so it’s really hard for me to do much self care for myself Any tips?
Awwww honey I’m so sorry for your loss. That would get me sooo down. I think in these moments - remind yourself it IS a stressful time and it’s okay to give yourself space to grieve and rest. Even though things need to get done, the lists will always be there. There will always be things to do. So take care of yourself whether it’s pausing & breathing deeply, watching a show, eating good food, or practicing movements :)

Self-care opens room for self-discovery, which leads to achieving a more productive and positive lifestyle. We should take care of ourselves because that is the only place we have to live. The following are my opinion on how you can take care of yourself. 1) Avoid being 100% booked; If you have your entire day blocked with meetings or school work, it leaves no room for real life to happen and you have no room for creativity and inspiration. A fully blocked day can give a false sense of productivity. If your calendar looks full, try to schedule a time to do nothing and use that time to calm your body and relax. You can meditate which helps to reduce stress and refresh your memory and helps regain strength. 2) We must schedule a time to rest. 3) We must spend money on eating healthy food. 4) And we can schedule 10 minutes in the morning for daily exercise. This is our body, we must take care of it. If we truly love ourselves and our loved ones, we must make self-care our priority. I hope this will be helpful. I am willing to help if you want me to.

I'm 25, unemployed and living with my parents. The career I studied was not for me (teaching), and I won't be working on this as it is just not for me. When I had to apply to university I had no idea on what to study, and everyone suggested teaching, I thought I was going to like it through the years, but that never happened, and I now I feel like I just wasted 5 years of my life and I have nothing now. I'm so depressed. A few months ago, I used to be motivated, and started pursuing other career, but I feel so behind and frustrated, I guess I kind of gave up.
