Research genetic factors in meniscal tears. Discoid menisci more prone to tearing. Some tears will heal fine depending on vascularity. Some won’t. I had a bucket handle tear in my lateral meniscus. Surgeon trimmed it to a more normal shape. Full 100% recovery. No OA. I run and lift heavy weights no problem. Having surgery was the best outcome for me. Each case is unique.

Totally, I had a bucket handle tear with a locked knee and had surgery and now all good. My main issue is patients with no locking and who have not tried rehab being rushed into surgery when the evidence has shown rehab can be just ad effective in a lot of cases and you are not increasing the future OA risk. Obviously if rehab does not help then surgery is a great option and one that I opted for due to mechanical locking which is a different story 👍

@@Physioplusfitness anything to avoid the knife and it wasn’t *that* long ago when surgeons just removed tears rather than repair them! Glad your outcome was good 👍🏼

At the end of the video you tell us that if we want to see your 'knee' video, then 'click here' and you point to the top left corner. But there is no link there, and nothing in the description -- I'd love to know what your rehab protocol would be for a meniscus tear. I recently found Ben Patrick's channel (kneeovertoeguy) and your review seemed to agree with what he was saying. Most YT physios suggest the same exercises, which I haven't found particularly helpful. So Ben's focus on foot and ankle strength is, at least, different. And I've just begun to follow his protocols to see if they help -- but what you you add or suggest for non-arthritic / meniscus knee pain?
