I know the vid is about the actual difference in offerings, but as a masterpiece collector I can say there are a few legends scale figures I like better than their mp counterparts… the combiners are much more G1 like the devy and menasor. The new MS Bruticus looks great as well…
I sold off my legends and only really do MPs now. I will say some legends have way better transformations with comparable results in both modes to MP. They were simply too small for me to manipulate in general with my clumsy meat hooks. That's the only reason I stuck with MP over legends. I buy them to pose and transform. I could never make the legends look "cool".
Yup, definitely a missed opportunity. When that customizer Maiden Japan was releasing his sets to customize the RTF Wreck-gar and Junkion molds, that was the only really good way to get different Junkions. Now Hasbro has the ideal mold to modify with different heads, torsos, and limbs to make several figures. They should do a box set of 4 different Junkion figures based on that mold.
I think if NewAge and Magic Square rereleased or did better versions of their older figures, I would totally jump on board on Legends and I'd even consider getting rid of most of my main line collection to collect Legends. As of now, my collection is pretty much main line and MP but the MP companies are doing more characters than Hasbro is doing. I wish there were 3rd party companies doing CHUG scale figures to offer more characters and offer better figures than Hasbro too. I hate having to buy gap fillers and upgrade kits to fix the flaws Hasbro figures tend to have.
@@tydiriumhanger1320 I think Hasbro could jump in on the Legends market if they really wanted to and make figures just for collectors like Magic Square and NewAge. It's what the RED line could have been. I'm not sure who they are targeting these days with the main line. It's like they are straddling the fence between collectors and kids. I don't see kids playing with Transformers let alone checking them out in the toy aisles. I'm certain that Legacy and Studio Series are pretty much being bought by collectors for the most part. Their figures are already pricey as it is but they look so cheap with all the hollow, gappy parts they have. Maybe it's a tactic so that they can still offer "improved" figures later like when car companies hold back on features or technology to incorporate into newer models of cars. I would ditch main line but I've already invested in so many figures, having to sell them would be a chore and there are really good ones like Siege Jetfire who I feel is definitely worth the price, but he's more the exception than the rule.
It'd be nice if legends made a complete set of Technobots or other combiner teams first. Also, where the hell are the deluxe Insecticons? No one has even touched them yet!!
If I could pick a 3rd party builder to make the Deluxe Insecticons and Deluxe Autobots Roadbuster and Whirl it would be GigaPower! They need to expand beyond Dinobots and they'd give these characters some size. I'm aware of the MMC Roadbuster and Whirl but they're a little small for MP scale and Whirl is far too stylized, looking like something out of Avatar. We need a good MP scale Topspin and Twintwist and the 85 Catalog would be complete in MP scale. The undersized Hasbro versions don't do it for me.
Have you done, or will you consider doing, a video about why Hasbro/Takara do not use any (or much) die cast in their figures compared to 3rd party. I assume it’s cost BUT I really enjoy the “heft” of an XTB or FT compared to Takara.
From a scale perspective, I think that there were versions of the seacons and star saber that were done years ago. For seacons, they were limited articulation like the G1 toys... I think sirtoys, back in the day, had the WST size, medium size, large size (1:1?), and maybe OS'd size. For star saber, I think the MegaSCF for him and victory leo work with legends (although they're not transformable, but are poseable... albeit fiddly). Not sure if revoltech did either character, but I'm fairly certain there was a company that did transformable versions. I recall when stores like, _"tuesday mornings"_ were getting the combiner WST (KOs) on japanese cardbacks there was a simplified version of victory leo and/or star saber (which I think mimicked/simplified some official release). Can't remember company name as I also recall picking up one character and then searching for an official version of its complement to see if they could combine with each other.
The problem with tracking down older obscure versions of a character is they are hard or impossible to get. MS and NA will make one that scales properly and looks good
I’ve been wanting a NewAge SkyLynx. I think it would be a really good figure. Their Skyfire and Omega were great. I think they would know it out of the park!
I wish legends and mainline had met in the middle at about the MFT scale. I think a lot of toys can already make that work. Flywheels for instance I think looks better as legends+. I sold off my legends long ago,and I've been liquidating my CHUGS. I will just be keeping my MPs. I think if legends and Mainline had met closer to the middle I would've gone the other way. 3P legends for the important stuff and CHUG for the fillers. Ultimately Legends were just too small for me to enjoy. My giant meat hooks could never transform them well or pose them in a way that looked "cool". More my limitation than the toys, but definitely made the decision to stick with MP easy.
I think that Warpath should get a pass, since Iron Factory pretty much is the only one in the third-party game with theirs. I don't think that anyone else wants to try tackling him. Targetmasters...didn't Mech Fans Toys have a Targetmaster Hot Rod? And while DX9 tried their hand at Headmasters, Toyworld/Zeta did two in "Infinitor" (Fortress Maximus) and "Grantor" (Grand Maximus), buuut Toyworld's design seems to copy the Kabaya Transformers Gum Fort Max kit: Fortress/Cerebros doesn't have his own Headmaster, it's just him. Same for Grand. And to flip the script, Iron Factory's done a Scorponok in their "Lordscorpion". MP ain't got him or the Blackzarak redux. Pretty sure that Unique Toys "Poseidon" is more for CHUG than fir MP. Same with their "Ordin" (Abominus). Dr. Wu has done Slamdance (Raindance & Grandslam). Iron Factory hasn't done a Starsaber. Which is odd because they've done Lio Convoy/Leo Prime and may be the only one to have done so in that scale. Another group that MP did but not Legends would be the Godmasters aka Powermasters. Magic Square *tried* their hand at an outright God Ginrai, but it was nothing more than a really bad repaint & retool of their Ultra Magnus 1.0. But the rest of'em?? Aside from Iron Factory's Overlord (which looks more G1 than Hasbro's Titans Return Overlord) - and I don't know if it even has the Powermaster gimmick - nobody's done'em. Not even a Doubledealer. 😞
Great vid ✨️😀
Thanks

The legends figures are popular because of the super G1 look and yes scale them up to MP for some of the offerings
I wish Hbro would do more JUNKIONS …it’s one of their most toon accurate molds ..

Junkyards still sits on store shelves so they would need to do different ones in buzzworthy line or something like that

We are seeing NA do 2.0 figures but MS seems to be more concerned with new characters

Those will come in due time especially as fast as Legends are going through characters
for a legends scale Quintesson, go with the Super 7 Reaction figure. its pretty cheap for a legends display
Great point and now where do you get super 7 reactions these days
Skylynx definitely should be bigger.
Yep for scale but then he would take up so much space LOL
@@tydiriumhanger1320 Take my space, please.
In the past year, I feel as though Newage is kicking the snot out of everyone right now.
They are doing great work, making figures a bit bigger and WOW that paint
Hahaha I liked that opening bit, what Nintendon’t. I haven’t heard that in decades. Forgot about it. 😆
Those days were so much fun
Up to this day,I still have to wonder why I never liked the legends scale somehow.
Legends to me is just too small and fiddly to transform
Probably because Big Giant Transforming robots should be big

Takara Abandoned diecast after MP01 for the most part
Just a quick question Mike. Are you going to make a video titled: What legends has done but MP has not?
If not......someone hold my beer. 🤨
You should because there are so many different recolors from NA that MP will never tackle. I would not know where to start LOL

I am confused. When did Fanstoys do legends?
it is MECH Fans toys a company that does mostly KO OS but so slick to make that name
I’ve been wanting a NewAge SkyLynx. I think it would be a really good figure. Their Skyfire and Omega were great. I think they would know it out of the park!
Yep they would do great work on a Skylynx

Yep Legends are small and hard to manipulate sometimes. MP is still the most impressive scale of TF
I think that Warpath should get a pass, since Iron Factory pretty much is the only one in the third-party game with theirs. I don't think that anyone else wants to try tackling him.

I would say Warpath would work but every time we get an MS or NA my IF figure gets kicked out of the display.
