It looks and feels like being in an old school local toy store. The owner is “that guy in the store”. He seems like he knows everything but in a humble librarian kind of way. I love the show lol. It’s def a phenomenon.
I've been to Toy Federation twice now (I'm in Alabama so it's a drive) I was in South Carolina for a gaming convention. Going into the store and seeing how everything is setup and complete is nice. The guys are friendly as well, I've talking with Ryan and Brad about old school anime's that we all used to watch and his knowledge about GI Joe is amazing. Just hearing their passion about what they collect and sell is amazing. On the last trip up there I printed out some Judge Dredd badges and put Toy Federation in the name for them. A friend and myself ran into Ryan twice that weekend once at the store and another time at the convention, we talked about a hour and he just a nice and friendly guy.
Having Retro Toy Con every year run by Ryan also helps the store quite a bit. I go every year and he purposely keeps it small so it feels like a personal toy show. Definitely recommend going next year if you can.
Great video, i missed the Retro toy con this year due to work obligations. I do enjoy the toy federation videos watching the trade ins. Its 4 hours away from me, it's on my bucket list to visit the store. Thanks again for the video.
This store is in my town. Great guys. Their MP/3P selection is spotty but for a kid from the 80’s it’s still a paradise!!! I try to go once or twice per month.
Unlike pawn stars, they offer a fair price for items. Edit - I don’t think collecting is dead, I think those in for profit and flipping are leaving but the actual collectors are still collecting.
What surprises me is how many cool peo who own cool stores like this, but do not have a youtube channel to market their business. LIke Tony from Nowhere toys(who cameos on Toyfed) S a perfect example. Also shocked not one who works in da entertainment business has signed them up to do an actual show like pawn stars. Got to give a shout-out to Matt from TOY attics who convinced Ryan to make the channel in the fist place.
Good luck if you do start but this is not the best timing. Maybe if you can afford to open a shop you may get a lot of product for cheap in the coming years
Retro toy con. Ends up being kind of the new Gijoe con and Power con (Motu, Thundercats) those lines definitely have a big presense on the show, and at the store. I love the show and have been going to it for about six years. Ryan got really lucky with owning the building the shop is in. So he's using almost this whole strip mall for storage. Toy collecting and curation is a commitment, and fans respect that. Some people feel his prices are too high or that he's ripping people off in these deals on the show. Sometimes I do worry that there is a bit of gate keeping like they only want to talk with other toy resellers. But I think people get that its genuine that he would not want to be in any other business than this, and bringing nostalgia to people.
I got a Lego Star wars UCS Collection, i stopped buying because of the Massive Space it takes and i dont like the actual politics Lego is playing and how disney changed Star wars. Lego still got a huge Market in Europe....
I live right near there and have been going to the shop for years. It’s a decent shop, and right next to it is a great video game store as well called Upstate Games. Together it makes it a destination. Always fun to go to, but my wallet hates it. Lol.
It's interesting seeing how he has to balance out his purchase prices in order to make it worth a profit, versus items that might not sell for a long time or collect dust on the shelves. An interesting channel, yes. Looking at the Kenner MASK line there, will be interesting to see what happens with the new license for 2025, 2026 or when it's released.
I have been looking forward to the return of MASK and now with the retro style package it will be great. I bet the design time will be longer than usual due to the gimmicks
it helps that the two channels you have discussed, along with Pixel dan and Valaverse are largely filmed and produced by the same guy and he’s a professional filmmaker. High quality product usually gets big sales and toy federation is a great example. collecting isn’t dead, but it has lost a lot of covid entrants and those really struggling due to the global economy. Covid collectors and investor collectors are sitting on their “investment” that has dropped in value, waiting and hoping for the upswing
Wonder if he carries current Tformees. Got an extra 86 prime in rhe boz, would LOVE to get a 86 magnus for, even if i gotta throw in some boot. Maybe you can keep an eye out for something like that, during your travels as well.
I learned the hard way selling a mint mafex cyborg superman to a toystore and got $40 not even half what its worth . They are pawnshops for toys i rather sell on ebay and get the profit myself . Not that i sell my stuff ive only did it 3 times and regretted not having them .
The purpose 2 sell to a toy store is convenience...U do not have to waste time N money on shipping supplies, fees, driving to the postal office, listings, communications w/ buyers, buyers not paying or trying fleece U. Stuff lost or damaged in mail etc. U get a fair price N b done with it. If wanna make a profit or get the most then yeah beta sell yourself. Also do not 4gt a lot of times these sellers end up doing trades or partial trades or store credit.

Yea if i sell something i want a fair deal and selling on ebay is not hard at all ,u print a sticker and mail it . I do not do buisnees with comic shops .
My favorite thing is watching delusional collectors come in to sell their collections thinking they have the next Bitcoin only to be hit with the reality its not worth nowhere near what they thought. Is collecting dead? No, but it's on the same trajectory as what baseball cards were in the 90's. The more saturated & expensive it gets the more average collectors who do it for fun get priced out. Toys today are not priced for parents to buy for kids but for adult collectors. When GenX is out of the game, collecting will be over.
HA! Yes some look at what an asking price is on EBAY thinking they will get that for their item. It is way easier to just dump stuff on a shop than actually sell it themselves which would really bring them into reality
"that foesnt mean they dont srill watch content" buddy, i watched Transformer reviews for several years before i started buying them myself, and ive gotten attached to all you guys over the years as well. I do srill collect, but the passion has kinda waned. I've went from $200/$400 a month for the 1st several years, and i collect CHUG, so thats alotta hasbots! The last 6 months uve bought maybe a dozen figures, and other than the accidental buying 2 commander Primes, i havemt bought a single leader class, and like 3 voyagers, the rest have been deluxes. So, if we dont count the wxtra prime, im willing to bet that q3 and 4 of 24 is equal to some of my single month bot budget totals from before. It's mostly got to do with feeling like im nit getting enough value for money, and as time goes on, its feeling like that more and more, to wear i dont get my happy feels rush anymore. Thanks Hasbeen, good lucasfilm business model you got there.
Rocks an UMIDIGI phone a year for $100/$150 maybe... Never had a typo. Splurges, buys a $1,399 brand new Samsung Galaxy Z flip 6, with $399 earbuds, and a $700 watch? All the sudden got worse grammatical skills than a 3rd grade special needs kid smh... Value for money. F#€ker didn't even come with a cord, cheap crap, came with the phone, earbuds, watch, cases for all, a handy "with reach around" and the safety and security of knowing Xi is always watching your back... and everything else lol
Collecting is dead. 1. Reseller is making it hard for fan's 2. Prices are to high, $30 for g.i joes, $100 for Transformers 3. Lack of supply in the store. Target only got in 1 box of tmnt toy's at a time. So yes it's dead

Every dude that works there is super friendly, love toys and loves to talk toys. They’re as genuine as it gets. They deserve all the success they get.
Watching Toy Federation motivates me to list my toys for sale. Selling my toys 5-10% cheaper than ebay is how i dump my unwanted inventory.

It’s fun to see them sit on the floor and sort through toys that come in, like children.
Yep if it makes you feel like a kid it can be fun
Having Retro Toy Con every year run by Ryan also helps the store quite a bit. I go every year and he purposely keeps it small so it feels like a personal toy show. Definitely recommend going next year if you can.
Yep a Con with no POPs and mostly vintage toys is awesome
Toy Federation is like 20 min away from me. Love this place and the people are genuinely nice. It’s not just an act on a show.
Collecting is over?! I never got the memo 📝 lol 😂
A lot of the 2020 tourists have come and gone but most of the COLLECTING IS OVER is clickbait
Watch toy federation is like watch cartoons saturday mornings back in the day.
I have heard a lot of people say that. It is fun to watch
It’s in my home town. It’s a great toy shop and the people there are super knowledgeable.
Great video, i missed the Retro toy con this year due to work obligations. I do enjoy the toy federation videos watching the trade ins. Its 4 hours away from me, it's on my bucket list to visit the store. Thanks again for the video.
Ryan and co just seem like good folk.I wish him the best.
Mike! I be damned, this is like an hour from me, in traffic. 35/40 minutes away on the weekend. Cool, a bad ass place I can actually get to. Nice! 😊
Hope you have fun when you visit
This store is in my town. Great guys. Their MP/3P selection is spotty but for a kid from the 80’s it’s still a paradise!!! I try to go once or twice per month.
I love the show, binged it over the week. I wish they'd put out more content, 15min a week just isnt enough!
Unlike pawn stars, they offer a fair price for items. Edit - I don’t think collecting is dead, I think those in for profit and flipping are leaving but the actual collectors are still collecting.
He has paid more for stuff than I would have in many cases
I’ve been watching Toy Federation for about a year. But, I’ve been with your channel for longer.
That is about how long I have been watching thanks

The channel is fun to watch, it's got the Pawn Stars format but devoted to vintage toys
I've been subbed to Tpy Federation for at least a year lol makes me think of starting a toy store
Good luck if you do start but this is not the best timing. Maybe if you can afford to open a shop you may get a lot of product for cheap in the coming years

That is awesome and I would probably waayyy overspend there LOL
A Pawn Stars for toys. Never thought of it that way.
That was just my first impression when I watched the first Episode and that feeling just stuck
Collecting is never dead, give a addict a million and what will they buy? I own my online toybusiness, build it up out of collecting.
Awesome! If you collect for years eventually, we all have to sell some off to make room and cash for future collecting
I got a Lego Star wars UCS Collection, i stopped buying because of the Massive Space it takes and i dont like the actual politics Lego is playing and how disney changed Star wars. Lego still got a huge Market in Europe....
Collecting is NOT dead and NEVER will be, next....

True the quality is high and also many big name youtubers have been there or been on an episode
Who is the professional filmmaker producing all these shows? Are they all shot in the same region?

I like it when obscure stuff walks in that I did not know existed
