Absolutely agree with this video. For me, it was the original Archon that opened my eyes to PRS amps. Fender cleans without reverb. But...that was my gripe. No reverb. Now I've owned the MT15 and MT100. Still missing that reverb, but man are the amps great. My favorite PRS amp of all time though? The DG30 hands down.
I just got my first PRS guitar I traded a 1993 Gibson Les Paul 1960 classic for a 2008 PRS McCarty Korina with Brazilian board and I really like it. I wouldn't mind trying the PRS HDX 20. 🤘😎🎸🏍
Recently bought both a PRS MT15 and a PRS SE McCarty .594 singlecut standard. For the prices i paid for them, with a Harley Benton G212plus Creamback speaker cab, I'm into the whole rig with an MXR Smartgate and Monster speaker cable, $2300. Plenty of people paying more than that for just an amp. Its pretty much my dream rig at an economy level. You'd be surprised how good it sounds with no other pedals or fx(Baxter style). Loud? Oh its biligerantly loud!
I almost went with an HDRX from them when I was shopping for my last amp. Ended up going with the Marshall Origin that I then modified, but I think I would have been very happy with the PRS HDRX too, they seem like great amps!
tell me about the mods you made?? i really like my origin but ive become disenchanted w it lately. its not the treble most ppl complain about, its just been becoming idk wtfs the word? "fizzy"?
@@jonwanrocks one word my friend.... "HEMPBACK"... there's some cool other mods that Headfirst amplification (I think thats the name of the youtube channel) has made videos about but I haven't done them because I don't feel like I need higher gain, but I wanted a lot of body as well as grit, so I bought the origin 50 combo, knowing I was going to take the speaker out immediately to switch it with a hempback. I tried the factory speaker for a day and it was fine, I'll find a home for that speaker yet, but I shit you not when I say the celestion Hempback 12 has got the be the best guitar amp speaker I've ever heard... in my opinion. We're all going for our own sound, and for me..... that amp with that speaker gets me where I wanna be with nothing holding me back, so I can run free!
I'm a bass player and don't know $h*t about guitar amps outside of Fender reverb amps, but our lead guitar player loves his PRS amp, it does sound superb to me.

You sound scary close to Danny McBride bro 😁. Seriously though, I picked up one of these hdrx 20s and love it. I think they're really underrating it at 20 watts. It's got a huge bottom end on it that is very similar to my 50 watt 1987 clone.
I really want to pull the trigger on the hdrx 20 but am worried about the clean tone. I like my cleans to be essentially breakup free. Can it do this? I also don’t love the fact that it doesn’t have an fx loop
Give it a few years, they'll come out with a series of generic sounding pedals to go with their generic sounding amps, because the music world could really use another brand of mediocre tubescreamer and fuzzface copies

From what I’ve seen, the mid tier amps from PRS are noisy and try too hard to do a lot of things so don’t do anything particularly well That said, hard to say what actually sounds good based upon user reviews so I tend to rely more on tech reviews, and I haven’t seen any tech repair videos where the PRS amps were impressive. I’d probably try to spend a little more and get a Suhr or Friedman

Love the sound of these amps, and well played, Jonathan.
Love the new studio! Becoming a super channel, really fun to watch the progress. 😎🤓
this dude that plays in the same circles as i do has the HDRX 20 and im CRAZY jealous of his sound

That was a blast! Loved the demo at the end.
Great video Jonathan!
Thanks for the info. Great riffing too bro ! 👍🎸
I love my SE DGT, so I really hope there'll be an SE range of amps one day too.
Got the PRS HDRX 20. It's a great Plexi style amp, and it takes pedals well also. For $799, it's a real bargain!
I really like that amp and I would buy it but I already have the Marshall SV20!
I bought one of these. It’s fantastic. For me it works best using a THD Hotplate attenuator.

I've been there. I hope all goes well, gear is transitory, a family member is much more important.
So many of us have paw prints leading to our heart.
I have 2 PRS CAD amps , a DG30 custom and Blue Sierra 50, they are incredible. Unfortunately the DG30 is the only CAD amp left

Years ago I bought a PRS Custom 24. It is ok but they never used discount it . But when push comes to shove I take my trusty Esteban every time.
I love this guy. He’s just like a big hairy teddy bear.

DGT = Damn Good Tones
Price went up. HDRX20 is $899 now.
Nice.
Johnny Rob ripping slide on the DG30.
Jonathan has been reviewing the last few PRS items. Has Baxrer fallen out of love with PRS?
Love you guys for your unbiased stuff, why are you now promoting barbs ?
😮
Sorry brands
why is ronald reagan frowning at me over the shoulder?
So you're saying they sound very average?

Imagine not just getting a twin reverb
Silverface twin reverbs are one of the absolute best values on the used market right now if size/weight isn't an issue
@jasondorsey7110 twin reverbs are not heavy if you are a real man

I feel PRS would be smart to just stick with guitar building.
No offense get a real player to demo the gear.. love your channel
Just as good? No, they're better than the guitars. For starters, they don't have any stupid birds on them.
Great sound, but I cover the logo with gaff tape. I hate that signature. Do a better logo that’s not so narcissistic looping. IMHO.
PRS guitars have a 'generic' tone.
