- On our inaugural trip home with our new to us 1962 GM 4106 our turbo failed. This video we have our trusted mechanic and friend Joe in Eugene OR replace the turbo with a loaner unit borrowed off an engine he had, run the rack, adjust the jakes, and generally inspect the engine on the bus. We went for a test drive and identified several issues that will need attention…

Dang, the guy must have more indepth knowledge then Scott from TBGM
Joe has forgot more than most of us know. I introduced him to Scott when he was at my place with a dropped valve several years back, they are friends now
Joe is a great mechanic! I've seen him before in another series... Too bad that other engine was never finished (as far as we know)... Keep Joe as your friend...
What engine wasn’t finished?
I don't know him .. but I've seen him on a few other YT channels.. He is the OG of 2 stroke DD. Master at work.
The music of our people. Sing 🎶
good video, nice bus
Thank you very much!
What an amazing sound. 🎶
Turbo howl, love it
Where did you find this guy. He knows his shit
Word of mouth. Referred to me by editor of bus conversion magazine.
Isn’t that Joe who has the famous racing truck the Cornfield Corvette ? The one with the V-12 Detroit He is a pure genius
Yup
Wow!
So you guys replaced that turbo on the road at the rest stop? Wow, nice work.
No. In the previous video I explained we were going to a mechanic 40 mi away.
no hearing protection needed.....
Interesting mechanic. Do you think that cutting that stop was the correct way to adjust that? I wish i could have seen him adjusting the Jac. Thanks.
It interfaces with some stuff inside the gov when installed and there is no adjustment for the innard side? Adjusting the outside lever wouldn’t change the clearance
ive seen other bus mechanics do the same thing
Isn’t that the guy who has the world famous “cornfield corvette “ the v12 drag racing semi truck ?? He is a genius
@@oldmanonthehill8858 yep
Imagine the man's an expert, but you won't find me working a disc grinder one-handed between the legs like that -
Is this the same mechanic that fixed bus grease monkeys bus when he broke down out west a couple years ago?
Yes, that happened at my house. The mechanic is Joe.
Scott where is the new 4106 you purchase?
At home with me
Is that Joe?
Yep. Know him?
