Shadow Gens sunset heights is a level I constantly replay because it’s just FUN. Something that forces barely even had, even during the avatar stages (I think the avatar stages are the best part of forces, along with creating the avatar because I like being creative) was just fun.
There’s also a few sections in Shadow Gens Sunset Heights where you can see bits of the original level. The red hoops that *used to* lead to the downhill ramp. The mid-area that used lead right into 2D. I just thought it was neat.

I think the reason their still called death egg robots, is because they were mass produced in the death egg itself, and sent to earth to reek havoc, but that’s just a theory
The only thing I liked about Sunset Heights originally was the music, and with Shadow Generations new renditions, especially for Act 1, I fell in love with this version of it immediately
Goes to show how heavily they went in on Shadow Gens. So many people's only complaints are that's it's too short, makes Sonic Gens look obsolete by comparison, and its OST's usage of Dubstep EDM (And I honestly don't care, it's still banger after banger). The level design clearly took cues from both the Open Zone challenges of Frontiers and Sonic Gens level design. This game's a friggin masterpiece.
@@EtherealManic07 100%ing both games, only reason I haven't finished Shadow Gens is Chaos Island Act 2's hard mode challenge and having to scour the map looking for collectables.
11:00 a bit of correction here, the turning in the White Space/ Boss fights are quite different from the one used in the levels the levels' control has turning a bit closer to Forces or any boost games prior, but you can defintely turn left or right better.
Turning seems to be way better in levels compared to for es, even when boosting you have way better turning speed, the non boost speed allows for vetter tunr an the air control shadow has is impressive compared to past games
14:19 Exactly my thought! "Justice" is one of my favorite OSTs from Forces, and it would've given more variety to the game as well. To be fair, Sunset Heights' Act 2 sounds way better than the first Act, that's why I always let "Justice" play during the first Act instead. 😅

@@superiorgamedude I guess its up up to preference as I will always prefer a frustrating game over a boring game as at least I feel something when playing, and I was able to admittingly have fun when playing 06 by goofing off and taking advantage of how broken the game is. but I will admit BOTH are Sonic's worst games (if we don't count the first two Boom games of course)

People turned on that game before the first bit of gameply was even shown to the public. Is Forces Good? No. Is it the worst Sonic game ever? Also no. I just don't get how people can look at this and say it's worse than ANYTHING that came out between Shadow 05 and Unleashed. People wanted to hate this game before it even came out. Why? @@superiorgamedudePeople did give it a chance, the stakes for Forces were pretty high. It had good marketing, and hyped people up with the return to the boost formula. It was just complete ass when compared to any other game at the time. Especially when we got Mania like months prior. 06 had fantastic level design, so it wasn’t a boring to play. I physically cannot play Forces stages without nearly falling asleep. 06 had horrible controls but I can see, and appreciate the vision that went into the game. That cannot be said about Forces.
I really wish shadow had something to say about being in sunset heights since at this point in the timeline he had never been there before. (Same for chaos island but that's not relevant to the video)
You want to know something funny? The OG Sunset Heights happened because the Resistance detected Shadow in the city. What if that was actually Shadow from Generations and they just happened to stumble into the illusion Shadow lol

I love the concept behind Sunset Heights. You're running through a city in the middle of being attacked, having to come face to face with the very enemies responsible for this... and the music, oh my God the music. It's such a shame that pretty much everything cool about Sunset Heights in Forces was relegated to the background. I'm really glad Shadow did it justice by bringing everything to the table and even expanding on it. That 14 year old girl in me who was once hyped for Forces but ended up incredibly disappointed was crying tears of joy seeing this level. My only gripe is that I wish Radical Highway didn't interrupt it, I really wanted to see more of this level. Oh, also, I already loved the original SH theme, but it's amazing how the Shadow remix makes it sound like a goddamn unfinished demo in comparison.
I just bought shadow generations yesterday and hoooolllyyyy im actually having fun! I don’t want to stop playing it they actually did a good job so far gameplay and level design are outstanding and the boss was well thought out I just beat the bio lizard 👌🏼my favorite levels are the first two only because it takes me back to sa2 final chase and radical highway 😎
I’m able to somehow vibe with 06 controls, the only thing I like about forces controls is that one boost gimmick where in any downhill area you can fly, that’s in about 3 levels (not including overlap levels (super sonic and shadow in sonic levels)) and while it’s not controls, I like how in metal’s fight, because it’s technically a level, you can use super sonic and they actually coded in extra times to hit metal specifically if you use super forms (eg V-maximum overdrive( if it’s still called that) Music for sunset heights specifically is decent but Shadow gens cranks it to 11
Hey bud great video overall and just wanted to give you a few tips on how to make your next video even better. First your bits aren't that well coordinated for example the intro feels a bit too long and in this day and age people have low attention spans which means some can click off while at other times the bit felt too short and it could have used some more time to cook, SFX balancing also needs to be worked on since sometimes the effect is too loud, the title transitions need a bit of work or you can just remove the title by itself since you don't really need to distinguish the sections with the big text. Wanted to finish by saying you're doing great and if you keep improving I'm sure you can gain an even bigger audience!
I just realized I forgot to mention that the Forces Motobug returned there is literally only ONE in both acts you can find it by taking the upper route in the sewers in act 2.
Youre just a tiny bit angry. Fr tho great video, i always wished Sunset Heights was something more because the *city* is gorgeous. And with Shadow Generations making it good just proves Sonic Team, with passion, can basically do anything that will actually be good
I have played Forces for 450+ hours (total playtime) So it's obvious that it's one of my favorite Sonic games! It's still mediocre tho. However, I DO love the soundtrack!

This video does a pretty good job comparing the changes made to sunset heights but god are you annoying. I mean this genuinely but maybe you should work on your comedy and try sounding less angry in videos. It comes off as you trying to seem funny when It’s really annoying.
I could see a non cannon DLC for sone of the games that don't have zones yet in either generations such as of course Mania, Superstars, Lost world, Shadow 05, Sonic CD perhaps, and then non cannon bosses to go along with it such as of course Infinite, but I could also see one of the titans due to it being non cannon
that would be very cool but there is the problem of Shadow Gens running of an entirely different engine to Sonic Generations, and also not sharing the exact same move set such as lacking the drift and lightspeed dash

I think act 2 is really good but man, act 1 repeats some of the biggest issues from Forces and for some reason people just ignore it lol. The new waterspout gimmick is cool but its literally only used at the start and then tossed aside. They don't bother building upon it at all and that's really the only gimmick they added for that act. The level is full of those boring, uninspired, and empty hallway like sections too. Its not all bad with the death egg robot section being pretty damn cool but man its the worse level in the game by far. Alternate routes aren't that interesting either. Super forgettable and disappointing.
I will say Act 1 was worse then Act 2 but I was fine with it but I can tell they ran out of ideas due to them just sending you to Radical Highway which I did not talk about the Radical Highway section in this video because well... that's Radical Highway not Sunset Heights
well with those games the levels were fine they had great level design it was the physics and gameplay that was not so good so if they fix that it would be automatically be so much better.
@EternityVoid_ well I could see it working two ways A: Shadow would not recognize Infinite without the mask on still leading to Shadow bullying Infinite after the events of Shadow Generations, or the fight could have been so inconsequential to Shadow that he completely forgot Infinite existed after Shadow Generations
@@EtherealManic07 I mean, a battle without the phantom ruby would make more sense. Infinite with the phantom ruby wouldn't work Infinite was the strongest character in Forces(excluding super forms for simplicity). Also, it was clear that Infinite's threats bothered Shadow in the DLC.

this is like the 5th vid i've seen in my recommended that has some ragebaity thumbnail about an older sonic game being "objectively" bad compared to shadow generations or how the series was in shambles before and now it's "back on track". why can't we just appreciate a new game being universally praised without dissing old ones all the time (forces isn't even bad btw). it's like when people constantly bring up 06 like that game wasn't almost two decades ago (it's cooler to hate on forces tho. totally no bias involved there). it gets annoying to constantly see and hear the same complaints about games that came out years ago when we have a new game that's taking the series in a whole new direction to talk about. there's no real discussion to be had anymore.

yeah I have so many hours in Sonic X Shadow Gens and only 3 went to Sonic Gens the rest where entirely for Shadow Gens I loved it so much

Shadow gens turned one of my favorite levels to my favorite sonic game into the best level in shadow gens

this is like the 5th vid i've seen in my recommended that has some ragebaity thumbnail about an older sonic game being "objectively" bad compared to shadow generations or how the series was in shambles before and now it's "back on track". why can't we just appreciate a new game being universally praised without dissing old ones all the time (forces isn't even bad btw).
it's like when people constantly bring up 06 like that game wasn't almost two decades ago (it's cooler to hate on forces tho. totally no bias involved there). it gets annoying to constantly see and hear the same complaints about games that came out years ago when we have a new game that's taking the series in a whole new direction to talk about. there's no real discussion to be had anymore.
you know... perhaps I just liked the thumbnail... and the topic, plus these are my opinions I did not like Sonic Forces Sunset Heights nor did I like Forces but I liked Shadow Gens Sunset Heights and I wanted to detail why, plus I did not even mention "how the series was in shambles before and now its "back on track""
@EtherealManic07 whatever, i didn't watch the video. i refuse to. i just wanted to express my irritation with thumbnails like these specifically. not saying yours is like some of the other silly ones i've seen but it's definitely still annoying.
Isn't that the point of the video my guy? The fact that Sega has taken what is widely considered as bad and has made it better. If the video was "How Shadow Generations is better than Sonic Forces" you may have more of a point, but it's literally comparing something that exists within both games - and that was the entire point of Sega doing what they did to the level... to give you an objectively better experience.
Also, if you got ragebaited by this thumbnail... you may want to work on your self control. Okay? Okay. 👍
