I was going to go looking for some nice metal dice, but didn't know if I should have anything in particular to look for past color. There are a lot of points (no pun intended) that im glad you brought up! The edges, sharpness of the points... and, what I should have thought of first, the readability of the numbers. I haven't actually looked for dice before, so thanks for providing insight as to what to look for. Have a good day!
Norse Foundry was the best price I could find for these types of dice.
In total I got 3 sets and some coins.
They are heavy, but they feel good in the hand and do work great with a rolling tray or a mat.
Agreed. When shopping around and doing some comparisons, I definitely found these to be a good value.
Yea it is great to play with more classy dice rather than bright colored dies
I would buy a set of these dice. I don't think I would want to buy a huge quantity of only these dice but for sure a single set.
That d4 is a caltrop
Yep! It's bordering on masterwork dagger status.
Lifetime Injury Achievement Award.
come on guys chamfer your shit
Fun fact, tri-edged daggers create a wound channel that have a really hard time healing without stitches. I imagine the d4 would do something similar to your foot.
3:09 It that Borealis royal purple color? They look awesome!
It is indeed. My first set of dice. :)
Nate, great job as always. Thank you
Well thanks! :)
I wonder why some manufacturers put the dot on the 6 ("6.") on D6 dice if D6 dice only have 6 sides and there's no number 9. 🤔
Why don't RPG dice sets come with 4 d6, so 10 pieces instead of 7? I have actually decided against dice made of higher quality material in favor of cheaper dice that come in a set of 10 just because I want my d6s to match.
Not a bad idea. There are quite a few 4d6 sets out there, but not many that have all 10 matching.
Just got a set of Norse foundry dice they have a thieves pack for a lot of sets that contain 11 it has 4 d6 and 2 d20
Hey Nate, I still use the clear blue set of plastic die I got when I started playing back in 1991.. but these are DOPE!
how do they compare to qworkshop steal die?
I haven't tried those ones, actually. Maybe I'll reach out and try to get a set for review. :)

hey nate! i use dice like that too!
Nice. Those were my very first set and I LOVE them. :)
That's crazy! Those are the first set I've owned too. I haven't even been playing for more than a couple months either.
those dice are indeed very beautiful, but ive seen metallic plastic dice that look just as nice and dont cost $30+ i never really liked metal dice because you cant really use them in a game.
The thing about these is that metal is that metal has a uniform weight and can be sharper which means that these dice can be perfectly balanced. The same is not true for most plastic dice since they usually use a blend of plastics the weight is almost never well balanced. Furthermore, the way plastic dice are smoothened creates uneven edges. Not to mention the difference in durability.
@@hjalmarjonssonrantala5375 Transparent dice tend to be more even though, since it is the same plastic all throught. Also unlike opaque plastic dice, you can actually see wether or not it has bubbles, how many and wich size.
I only roll 20's
Just wanted to say I subbed a couple months ago and I really enjoy your content! Diverse and entertaining! Thought you'd like to know! Also, are you a member of the cartographers guild forum? If you aren't you should check it out friend! Thanks and keep the vids coming!
Thanks so much, Kevin! I really appreciate your sub, and the kind words. I AM a member of the Cartographer's guild. I don't post there very much, but I check in from time to time and it's a great resource for mappers!
I ordered a set of stainless steel Dice and they arrived with nicks, dings and some them were not machined perfectly. What do you think my expectations should be for a set of $140.0 dollar dice?
I suppose I would like to know what sets them apart from metal dice you can buy for less than half that price. If you are having trouble answering that question, I would suggest returning them if possible.
WASD20 I wanted super durable, precision machined dice. I also liked the fact that they are 20%larger than average dice.
Is there a dice set you would recommend for beginners? I recently got into D&D, and I was thinking about buying a set because my DM loses all his d20s lol.
Honestly some of these big packs are great. amzn.to/2exW58M
If you're just looking for one set I often go with Chessex, but check out those big packs if you're looking for more than one set.
Hey Nate! What's your outro music? Man it's soo awesome and catchy=)
Hi Anton. The song is called Hot Heat. It's a royalty free song, and it IS catchy. :) I always feel bad cutting it short.
Thank you!) Wow, after so many times hearing a little piece I've checked the whole thing=))
Btw very cool review. I've been looking to buy something special lately.
what about pounds
I generally game on a hard plastic table, do you think these would be safe on that?
I'm having trouble picturing that kind of table, but it seems like it would be safe if it's plastic.
just 1 problem, how are u going to test them if they don't float?
You don't. :) I actually have had terrible luck doing the saltwater test. Most of my dice still sink even in water with TONS of salt.
For the most part metals do not have the casting problems of plastics and do not create internal voids, but the world is a large and strange place.
You can't float meal dice to test them, but if you test roll them in a tub of salt water any rolling inconsistencies will come out faster.
With metal dice I suggest a plastic container.
How do you know everything about everything? :P
Seriously, John Goetz comments are some the most insightful on my channel.

Oh yes, While it does not cover metal dice, Gamescience has some great videos on the inherent problems with standard plastic dice.
Are the numbers on the D6 off center?
I didn't notice until you mentioned, but yes. Some of the numbers on that one are just a hair off center.
WASD20 that would drive me nuts, especially for $35,-
Fair enough. I'll likely go back to not noticing it. :)
The Chinese now produce this same thing for a bit over a third of the price
yo if you flip his head upside down it look like an egg with hair
Metal Dice are the worst.
