Railroading had so much character back in the day. I still don't need a scanner. It takes the elements of surprise away from good old fashioned patience
I love the crossing shot at Reinholds with the dead loco on the siding. You have some awesome videos! You have a lot of the same tastes that I have. Shortlines are the way to go!
Brian, thanks for watching and commenting! I agree with you about shortlines; I love watching the action of hand-me-down locomotives giving it their go!
Good video! I believe that engine was NIWX 2204 before PRL. I was a short line conductor and that locomotive was sitting on or railroad inactive since it was unreliable at the time which was 2018. I was the conductor that took it to the BNSF interchange in Cheney, Wa. The railroad was called the Eastern Washington Gateway Railroad. It’s now the Washington Eastern Railroad.
Only got 43 years of that sister train? I suppose. I love small towns. Best places to live if you find good employment with in a half hrs drive or if you just want a quiet place to retire. That train whistle isn't so quiet though. I grew up close the railroad. A very busy railroad. The sound of the ten PM B&O sang me to sleep every night crossing the Ohio river when I was a kid and still does now and then but not so often since the steel mill closed on the other side of the river.
My personal thoughts on older vs newer GE prime movers: I’ve noticed that the older 7FDL engines sound rougher, but I think the newer GEVO engines produce more bass, and remind me more of ALCOs than the FDLs do
The new ET44's definitely fit the "vacuum cleaner" nomenclature. lmao When they're at notch 6-8, I swear, they sound like a SD70ACe minus the massive engine bass the 710G emits.
I love the horn on this loco, I wish i knew what it was it does sound like the standard conrail horn. I love the early GE chug there's nothing better then that sound! Its sad newer tier 4's don't have that sound.
DEFINITELY A U-23B! U 25 HAD A 7- FDL 16 CYL ENGINE 2500 HP AND A TOTALLY DIFFERENT AIR FILTRATION SYSTEM AND A COMBINED RADIATOR AND AUXILARY BLOWER FAN ARRANGEMENT ALL UNDER THE RADIATOR BANK! WORKED ON THEM ARGENTINE AT&SF LOCOMOTIVE SHOP FROM 1965 TILL TRADED OFF 1977? ALSO U25B AND C MODELS HAD A SINGLE PICTURE WINDOW TYPE WINDSHIELD! KEEP THEM ROLLING BROTHERS! 👍👍
Some people smoke. Some drink. Some vape. For relaxation, I watch cool train videos like these. Awesome horn.

Love the sound of the U-Boat Toasters, longest hard working 4-stokers ever!
Probably one of my favorite horns! It's nice to see a older train like this still working hard.

The lighting at the beginning is absolutely stunning on those silver tree trunks. I had to roll back and look again. Beautifully done.

Thank you for recording this video without annoying bell sounds. 😅
hearing the ties crunch under the weight is so unnerving
I like the old locomotives much better. It's like the difference between an electric car and an good old V8.
Good video.
Thanks for watching and I agree!
100% agree with you on that one Lloyd!!
more more, love to hear the engines throttle up and down when they're switching
Love..the.sound.of.the.chug..andthe.horn
Hooray for short lines I really like them those old ge's are sure nice nice video
Thanks for the historical and other background info... So rare these daze! - 10:08
I guess I'm a short-line kind of guy . We call 'em Branch lines , very few left in UK . Great Work CPRP>
An enjoyable video
Great video! That's a busy little short line RR!
Around here you don't see this stuff anymore, Grate video !!
Although I love these old U23B's, I also love the sleek look and POWER of the newer GEVO's.
Nice 3k on the engine

The 7fdl 16s are more choppy sounding and the gevo chug sounds more like continuous tambourine, high hats, or maracas
Looking good! The Minnesota Commercial railroad here in Minnesota also has their share of older GEs. It's nice to see them across the country.
Old GE Uboats and Alcos sound awesome.
Awesome video!
Thanks!
i like the sound of 7FDL8s on Philippine National Railways GE U14C and U15C and the horn sounds similar back when #915 is still active
Great video and catch! Shame they got rid of this beautiful engine.
Thank you!
I miss driving locomotive in longhood.

Now it’s sad Amtrak is going to replace those GE’s but I’m hoping that they’ll keep some and use them for backups
looks and sounds like an RS3L horn
nice video bro
Thanks!
cozy railroading
What railroad did this engine perviously work for
This is horn prime 990
They now also bring propane gas to Sweetwater Propane, next to Four Seasons.
Nice video!
Thanks Adam!
Beautiful videos! It's a shame 2206 on the Octoraro Branch didn't operate after 2012.
I honestly like Alco chugs but this U25B is nice
ALCO chugging is awesome!
I know
ALCo is garbage. Slippery electrical piles of junk.
@@ronstrulic4388 Source?
@@TheMNrailfan227 I work on the junk every day. No better source then that.
I love the u-boat action what railroad is this ?
East Penn Railroad's Lancaster & Northern Branch between Ephrata and Sinking Spring, Pennsylvania. Thanks for watching!
Nice I love watching short liner videos
Qual o modelo dessa buzina ?
Can I run alongside?
Think you could film the engine on the railroad that owns it now
I wish I could but I do not know if it is running anymore.
Railroad,Preserver,2000 2206 was sent to Mexico. I don’t know where 2204 is
Is this line still active? Great footage!
It is! But this locomotive is long gone. They now use a blue & gold GP18 and GP38. Thanks for watching / commenting!
Central Penn Rail Productions - thanks for the response!
Nice m8
Thanks!
Is that an RS3K?
Why is the engine going backwards
Great video, but the sound quality was awesome!
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!
I prefer the older locomotives over the newer ones. New Locomotives are alot like the cars and trucks today. They have no style.
Prime 990 ex Burlington Northern horn
No that’s an RS 3L
Look at 8:23 you can see the spikes on the back caps ,,, RS 3L
Dude you did a fantastic job with his video wow you're just good just like my Patriots LOL!!! 10 stars!!!
Thats from
Old loco got trouble?
This is part 2, the other videos from the same day.
6:20
Dash 8?
U25B
pretty sure its a u 25 b
How do you know?
It's not because the U25B has a longer "snout" in front of the cabin. The U23B looks exactly like this one.
DEFINITELY A U-23B!

👍👍
Running backwards, fuck that.
Nice video!
