While to be sure Ike is not a power of friendship type of protagonist in the traditional sense, he still has shades of a related aspect: Ike is about the power of trust. Early Path of Radiance has Ike try and understand the hatred between Beorc and Laguz, then try to bridge that gap for the rest of PoR and going into Radiant Dawn. Soren is there to temper that trust and make sure it doesn’t turn into naïveté that can be exploited.

Part of me wants to say the debate with Classic Mode vs Casual Mode has sort of transformed into Time Travel vs No Time Travel, making your turns feel much more impactful instead of, "Whelp, they got a crit. Let's just rewind that,do a different action, and make that number something different!"

    Nino: Linus! You're alive!
    Linus: ..........
Nino: Please. I made a mistake...
Linus: So did I! Trusting you!
    Nino: Linus... I'm sorry...
Linus: Did your master tell you to say that too?!
Nino: Jaffar is not my master. I'm leaving for good.
    Linus: ..........
Nino: It's the truth. I was wrong about everything.

Glad to see you back at this! BTW…speaking of Fire Emblem…
Remember a while back when Ignis made those Fire Emblem based drinks and I was able to try the Princess of Shadows in Florida because a place called Farlow’s had the lavender simple syrup to make it? Well…a place closer to home just opened and ALSO uses lavender simple syrup in one of their signature cocktails so I now have a local place to make it!
The place is called Lago Tacos in Plymouth, MN and as an extra happy coincidence the barkeep who made it usually makes interesting drinks for her D&D group…and will be holding on to that recipe for later! I did tell her about you, so…you MIGHT get another regular viewer later…

What I want in the next Fire Emblem is a compelling and well written story and characters like they have to be enjoyable and they’re stories doesn’t leave you with a bunch of questions

Something I'd like to see return is automatic class promotion once a character reaches what would be the 21st level. Like in Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn.

The problem with route-branching that leads to different story paths, much as I adore it, is that it makes writing a holistically-coherent narrative that justifies the aspect of it difficult… So many stories struggle with it; if it’s not “Fates” giving you a “perfect” path where almost everyone you like can live (save a couple of hackneyed deaths) while BR and CQ actually had better story content and creative maps… then it’s “Three Houses” not changing much between Houses for WC, and then feeling like they really cut off a lot of details between SS/AN/VW/CF. It’s quite hard; better examples would be “Tactics Ogre” and “Triangle Strategy” which do really interesting stuff with story splits.

To be honest, I don't really think Engage's plot was necessarily bad, just that it didn't go through enough drafts. A lot it feels pretty solid, but they didn't really think it through as much as they should've, like how the prologue does that premonition of the final battle thing only for the events of said premonition to never actually happen, which was disappointed because I was actively _expecting_ it to somehow lead lead to that moment the same way Awakening did it. The foreshadowing was also, like... making everything way too obvious lol.

You know, I was just thinking recently, you never did show that Blazing Sword bonus video.
At the end of Lyn's campaign, she had a single loss on her record, and I recall you saying "We'll show that later", but you never did.

25:40 Because videogame and because specific audiences want them, pretty simple. It's like how other types of characters are put in a game even if they wouldn't fit in properly even with an explenation.

It's weird, but I can think of a lot more things I never want to see in Fire Emblem again, than things I want them to bring back. Probably a consequence of getting into the series in Awakening, and then backtracking.

I hope that they either cut the ability to grind, or balance it far better than they did in Engage, because who in their right mind thought "Skirmishes should level scale to match your best unit" wasn't a fundamental failure?
It ends up double ruining the game, because by scaling on based on your best units, only your best units can be fielded in skirmishes, and end up getting the lion's share of the experience. Meaning you end up outlevelling the main story, but still leaving your weak units in the dust.
A game like that you wouldn't be able to Iron Man without perfect luck, because there is zero ability to catch up a replacement unit if you lose someone critical.

23:59 Maybe it's because I haven't played this game since it came out, but I do not remember Peri saying anything after Xander's death in Birthright.

What i want from a new fire emblem game is a more ensemble cast. like i get its about THIS person and the one to four people close to them, but thats NO EXCUSE to introduce so many characters and establish next to nothing outside of supports. by all means make the GOOD stuff be behind supports but give me a reason to care about them after i recruit them besides "i was a proud knight now i'm retired" or "if it wasnt for (character) id be in an alley or dead".
conversely, if i could be more ambitious, maybe another warriors game that is not only BETTER (i didnt play three hopes) and have TRIPLE THE CAST. since we get so many characters per game. Dynasty Warriors does it all the time and the CAST KEEPS GROWING.
and with ambition comes bias: blazing sword remaster with FULL VOICE casting! ( i know it wont i can dream tho...)

    Let's see...
    FE1: Shadow Dragon
    FE2: Gaiden
    FE3: Mystery of the Emblem
FE4: Genealogy of the Holy War
    FE5: Thracia 776
    FE6: Binding Blade
    FE7: Blazing Sword
    FE8: Sacred Stones
FE9: Path of Radiance (almost done with that game myself, BTW)
    FE10: Radiant Dawn
    FE11: Shadow Dragon DS
FE12: Mystery of the Emblem DS
    FE13: Awakening
    FE14: Fates
    FE15: Shadows of Valentia
    FE16: Three Houses
    FE17: Engage
Sakurai considered Heroes the actual FE15, but that's a spin off, not a main title, so i don't count it.
As for what i want for the next FE game, which would be Fire Emblem 18... I want either an FE4 remake or a straightforward game like Oscar said... Also, Radiant Dawn? A straightforward FE game?... How?...

I'd like another infinitely farmable postgame with randomized enemies like Lagdou Ruins, along with the buyable stat boosters and unlockable characters. Hell, give it randomized maps and make it a SRPG/Roguelike fusion.

The story of engage is not perfect however the reason I like it compare to fates is that it knows what it is and it does not Take it self to seriously for me the a Major problems of the story are the villians. While I like the four hounds and I line that ever fight is unique in how the use the emblem rings they apear in to many back to back chapters and I feel if there were less and had a stronger énfasis in there backstory there encounters would had been better. That being said for sombrom I like that he is a Straigt up villian with no denying nor defending his actions. In adition that in alear conversation during the final battle and with the confermation made because of the dlc is Sombrom would had won and went to another world even if he find what he was looking for we would have not change and still do the same actions and mistakes. To conclude the story is not great, yet I can see its value and the ideas they were going for though I agree that the supports and side aventures are better and if they would have in those directions that story would improve.

I hope the next Fire Emblem game doesn't have an Avatar character, cause frankly I'm sick of them.
Also I hope the next protagonist brings something unique to the table, like make them a Laguz (but not a dragon) or a thief.

22:00 I'm scared of continuing TH because of that, they gave me too much stuff to work with and as usual with how I feel about FE, I fear that I will screw up in stat with all my characters.
