Never did I think you'd compare Fire Emblem games to food.

I don't think Fates is an overdone bon-bon, at least not in the sense that it was left in the oven too long; I think they tried to cook the bon-bon too quickly and set the temperature really high.
Also, as someone who has recruited Xavier, yeah he's definitely at the top of the hard recruitment list lol.

24:45 It's also the restaurant thinking that they're about to go out of business, so they're putting their heart into this final meal.

The discussion of Three Houses and it's good and bad aspects reminds me of my thoughts on Regalia : Of Men And Monarchs. It's a good game, but definitely has issues. For example, I didn't feel like dealing with the dungeon exploration gameplay unless I had to. It's like a sizable part of the game was just too fiddly for me to enjoy it. The characters and social interactions are fun, and some of them even have fun battle mechanics (example, there's a fire wielding sorceress who can summon a fire monster and heal it with her fire attacks to keep it around, that's fun), the diplomacy mechanics make for interesting choices, and the social bonds act like a combination of Fire Emblem support conversations and Persona Social Links/Confidants. I just couldn't bring myself to do the exploration and combat unless I had to, because it felt like wasting time I could use to build up my little town and hang with my companions.

Okay...I am glad I was already eating when you made the food comparisons because that would've made me hungry. Also, kinda ironic given that Weird History Food did a vid recently on the history of bagels/donuts with your Engage comparisons.
Also...the burger comparison. Nearly lost it at the "mascot" comparison. (Hi, Chrom!)

17:50 IDK if the problem is the route system itself, it's more that you are pretty much required multiple playtroughs in order to understand what is going on and TH is a long game with the monastery structure included. Even other games in the series have route splits but they are shorter + they aren't required in order to understand most of the story, like this game or FE7.

Shadow Dragon on the DS, I think is like tofu, very bland on its own but can be quite nice if you add some extra flavor to it. New Mystery of the Emblem is definitely like a meatball surprise that's sometimes good and sometimes has something you really don't like, or it's really spicy out of nowhere (ambush reinforcements). Echoes is like a cocktail, pretty bitter but it does have some good qualities to enjoy. Sacred Stones is kinda like chicken tenders that you can dip in any sauce you want or without any at all if you want. If Blazing Blade is a turkey, then Binding Blade is like fried chicken; which is to say it's a guilty pleasure and that the bones are pretty annoying unless you're just into them. Mystery of the Emblem on the super famicom is like a a really hard baguette, it's literally rough around the edges and a struggle to bite into it, but I could eat that shit up all day.
Lobster is actually perfect for Thracia btw

I guess that puts Tokyo Mirage Sessions as fine French Cuisine, served in a Japanese restaurant.
Doesn't matter how good it is, nobody's giving it a chance because you don't go to a Japanese Restaurant to eat French Food.

On the topic of units that are difficult to recruit; outside of FE, I’d nominate Yuffie in Final Fantasy VII (at least if you’re doing a blind playthrough).
Also, those food metaphors managed to be so on point despite being rattled off rapid fire that if I didn’t know better, I’d think they were scripted.

Oscar, have you seen the video of someone hitting Reinhardt with Berserk in that map? It's beautiful.

Forgive my moment of dumb, but I keep hearing you two talk about how similar Silver Snow is to Verdant Wind, but you always label Snow being the mimicker, now Wind. How come it feels Wind gets by with it as if Snow is the one doing every wrong move and not the other way around, or more aspects that would be more fitting from Snow?

How would you feel if Veyle was a main lord in an Engage sequel? With Alear being Robin to her Chrom, but more familial.

Dude, the Xavier chapter (that's the prison chapter in FE5 Oscar was talking about BTW) can go fuck itself
It is a constant cycle of fucking up & resetting to get those stupid green units to talk to the right enemies all the while getting bombarded by Spellcasters with long-range Magic Spells... & All for what? To get a unit that's GOOD?
I can pretend that Xavier is bad, but he's not... But all of that bullshit just for you to get a unit that's good? With how demanding Xavier's recruitment is, he should be able to solo the game by himself, THEN it'd be worth the effort
Edit: Douglas is not so bad if you have one of the Dancers since Douglas can't attack them, so my strategy is luring Douglas into one of the treasure rooms & block the door with one of the dancers
Also, I'm surprised Hannibal isn't on that list Comic brought up, cause recruiring Hannibal is a bit of a pain too

From what I heard the Church’s route was made before the Golden Deer’s route and they probably just ran out of time to finish the game
