This is exactly the video I was looking for! I have a 2008 4runner with the same ARB bumper and it's starting to oxidize all over. Thank you!! Great video.
Great job wish I had a big shed ,with or with out a pit wouldn’t mind but they come in handy as had one in our family home shed remember dad digging it with the pick and shovel lol I was about knee high then ,look forward to more thanks
Great video dude! Well shot, good audio quality, and super well presented useful information. Looking forward to watching more of your vids! You've inspired me to pick up a used steel Opposite Lock bullbar for my 2008 Pajero - I'm doing a build on a budget and this is an important element to allow me to fit a large all terrain without scrubbing. Instant subscription!
Great job mate, you did well. It's not exactly an ARB powder coat finish, but who can do that? My bar looks similar to yours and I will be using Raptor, as it is hard wearing and very forgiving, and my painting skills aren't that good, but it was good to see someone go thru the steps before me. You must be pleased with the result, and that grill was a good find! Cheers mate.
Cheers for the kind words mate! Very happy with the final result, if I did it again I would have done a second or third coat like I did on my towbar though. Good luck with the raptor coat! Seems to be the way to go with bar work these days
Hey Will, Awesome vid! Just wanted to know how’s the paint holding up, I’m wanting to do this myself but also being talked into getting my bullbar two pack painted professionally $$$ Cheers
If I had my time again I’d put 2 or 3 top coats on. 1 wasn’t enough. Painted my towbar a couple months after this with 3 top coats and it’s holding up like a champ
The troopy was my donor car (engine, sold the gearbox to refurbish mine) and unfortunately the body is too far gone to restore. Very deep rust through most panels. As much as I’d love to bring it back to life, I don’t think it’s going to happen
The old cooper discovery’s are actually pretty good! Theyre 265/75. I’ve got my eyes set on the 285/75 KM3s though. These ones are definitely decent though!
Cheers for that! I know they’re expensive, but they’re the most efficient discs I’ve used for this kind of thing. You’ll probably go through 3 or 4 depending on the shape of the bullbar and level of surface rust
It was a PPD industrial semi-gloss black. Looking back, I wish I applied at least 2 coats, 3 or 4 would have been good even. I did 3 coats on my towbar and it’s held up great
Cheers for that! It's actually Seether covering Pearl Jam's "Immortality". Shame the RUclips algorithm flogs published songs because I'd much prefer to have them in all my videos! Just easier to use royalty free and you'll notice I switched to this in later videos
Depends on the paint a bit. I think I waited until it was dry enough to apply another coat so it wasn’t impressionable enough to be marked by handprints and what not. So maybe 12 hours? Or 24 hours if that’s fully cured?
Replies to comments isn't coming up 🤔 what primer and paint did you use? I'm planning on changing the colour of my ARB lc120 bar I just got from the wreckers
Oh really?? Hopefully RUclips fixes that soon. I used a gold killrust metal primer and an industrial semi-gloss black paint from PPG paints. Great stuff!
I think it was maybe 2 or 3 days? Probably one day to take the bar off and strip it right back. Another day to get the undercoat on, 12h later one topcoat, then I put it back on. Honestly I’d recommend putting a second if not third topcoat on though! Wish I had done the same
It’s parts live on in many other cars! The body was rusted beyond repair so we salvaged the motor, gearbox, panels in decent condition and some of the interior!
How do you not love Ausies. Every man has a 4x4 and a skill. What America used to be.

Great Job Will the difference is night and day heaps better !
Gasket stripper works a treat for removing powder coating and saves working with all the dust from disks
Fantastic work!

Solid video bud! I been thinking about doing this so I’m stoked to have found this. Nailed it 👊🏽
Great Job looks great

Top job, goods tunes as well
Solid video there Will, looks like you give most things a crack and is inspiring to see. Nice job on the bar mate
Awesome job dude. Great video ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Great video mate, nice music too.
Is there going to be a video about the other vehicles on the farm? (troopy and other cruisers)
@@WillsLandcruiser Thank you for your positive response!

What paint did you use for the finish coat

..... When will you work on the Cruiser Trooper in the background?

Well i guess cruisers never die, they simply become donors. Keep up the inspiring work on the 105 build. 👍
@@triple-a-1645 Sad to see the body rust away but it lives on forever in at least 3 vehicles 😂 Thank you very much, I will!
Nice vid mate. Repainting the bullbar on my 75 series troopy
So much cheaper than buying a new one and they come up great!
Alex Bowman I’ll be repainting my HZJ75 soon as well, how did the troops come up?
Good video mate, bar came up a treat!
Off subject a bit, but what do you think about the Wildpeak tyres you’re running & are they 285 or 265?
Cheers

Can I use filler primer instead of undercoat?
Nice job. Love the pit. How many discs did you go through using the sander? I'm getting ready to tackle a rusty old steel rear bumper off my 86 K10.
Cheers for that! I know they’re expensive, but they’re the most efficient discs I’ve used for this kind of thing. You’ll probably go through 3 or 4 depending on the shape of the bullbar and level of surface rust

looks mint
How long between applying the top coat of paint to reinstalling back onto the car?

Bay Games it was an industrial semi-gloss black paint
