Small scale hay production almost always needs to be done by the land owner. With the narrow weather windows, equipment cost, help availability and other issues has made custom baling a thing of the past in my area. Tractor Tools Direct provides some great options.

Brad, it's a good thing you go step by step. All implements are not as easy as the factory thinks it is to put together or to use.

We love our set up. The Baler was a nightmare to lift and assemble. Our JD 10 series simply wasn't big enough to lift it to put on the tires. Tractor tools direct has always been helpful.

BUILD A BIGGGER TINY HOUSE! WHAT??? READ ON...
Hello Brad & Deb; The last time I watched Piney Grove was the Building and finished build of Brad's parents house. I can understand the mindset of Brad's Father concern of living in a mobile home. He did not want to live in a mobile home.
HOWEVER Brad and Deb you both have more of an inner strength than I do. From the stand point that you went to the county with your entire building layout with the county. It's not like you did it piece meal, one building at a time submitted in front of the county planning /zoning. PLUS I understand the factor of 10 acre parcels especially in Florida because I would not want a development (aka residential zoning) next to my 10 acre parcel in an agricultural area of properties. But the factor that you had laid out the entire parcel with ALL BUILDINGS and showed the County people would be my MAJOR argument. The argument would be I showed you my entire plan for the property but NOT ONCE did you ever say that can not be done.
The key factor would have been Brad's parents house would have been down sized if the 50% rule for another house to be built would have been told to you. Maybe 1000 SF or 1200 SF Again the county reps NEVER told you this little rule especially when you had the entire plan in front of them.
However that all being said It sounds like you both have it resolved. First house is 1600 sf the 2nd house 3200 sf. The one benefit of an attached garage is that rainy days will be nice taking groceries into the house from the attached garage.
Now my wife and I have lived in an 800 Square foot house in the Florida Keys it was ok. Yeah we are still married. The way it was laid out we called it our BIG tiny house. MAYBE consider building the 800 Square foot house with the auxiliary building that you plan to build place it behind the 800 square foot house. Using the Auxiliary building as your two car garage. Just a thought...
IF a pad works as part of the house then add a 400 square foot back porch pad or parking pad to your parents house, Total 2000SF parents house. Then this will give you a 1,000SF house for your house.
THEN your costs will not be so major with the change to the smaller house, 50% less rule.
TWO can play this game County...

I’ve just watched a couple videos of your dilemma on the house and this is kind of a short story hopefully because my hairdresser had a couple horses and she wanted to build a barn. Now this was Kansas and they told her she couldn’t because of the so-called outbuilding thing. This is probably been 20 years ago now and she was of course distraught and then she found the loophole that as long as it was attached it would be considered part of the house so she ended up building her horse barn and she attached a long breezeway I guess you could call it from the house to the new barn. I don’t know if it was an enclosed breezeway or an open breezeway but it was attached from the house to the barn. She now has a barn, it cost more but it did the job. Of course her neighbors were surprised that she was OK and they’ve been denied on their own property. Never get in a woman’s way when she wants something, she’ll figure it out.

If you can get chicken litter or Turkey litter or heck even cow or horse manure it will make your hay grow really thick. I live in the south and tried to get away with a tedder. I could not. Get a tedder it will save your in a pinch. Cain equipment has 2 star sitrex tedders that would be perfect for you.
